So Halo 5 has been out for about three months and after days and nights of playing the game I think it is quite clear that 343 industries have made Halo 5: Guardians to appease a new player base, at least the gameplay is appeasing the new generation, that is fine but that doesn’t give them an excuse to give the long-time fans a half–Yoinked!- attempt of a compelling story. I’ve been buying the Halo games for it’s story more than it’s multiplayer because I don’t need to pay another $20 to play with a bunch of four year olds who don’t notice that the kinetic is picking up the game audio. Halo 4 was the grave that 343i dug for the halo franchise, the shovel they used was Microsoft which assisted them with assets to dig the grave, but Halo 4 itself wasn’t the coffin because there were a few things that were great in the game, one of which would be the commendations, spartan ops & the story.
Although Halo 4’s gameplay felt like a futuristic Call of Duty with a Halo re-skin it had some things that defined it as Halo, that being the fact that one had to work their fingers to the very bones to complete a commendation that would award them with a spanking new set of armour, something that I enjoyed and something that gave the armour you wore a sort of renown, when people see your spartan wearing something like the venator armour they will instantly recognize you as someone who went through hell to earn it. Spartan Ops made your spartan feel individual, you were apart of a fireteam and you would take on tasks to establish a presence on Requiem, it was a fun experience and it gave a little insight on how the people who aren’t the master chief work. The story of Halo 4 was a touching story, drifting in space for four years to learn that your A.I best friend and companion Cortana is going to die unless you get off Requiem and find Halsey, then things change to stopping the diadact then finding Halsey.
What does Halo 5 give us, replacing these amazing aspects from the previous installment? Commendations that give you nothing but stupid req packs and 100 xp which at my level is utterly useless. No spartan ops at all, fireteam crimson and majestic just crawled into the latrines of Infinity and are never heard from again. A story that says -Yoink- off to the tears you shed over Cortana’s “death” and a cliffhanger ending.
Although don’t get me wrong, Halo 5: Guardians has done a few things right in terms of gameplay, something Halo 4 was lacking but everything they did right last time just went out the window as they tried their hardest to appease the fans by being the biggest, stingest -Yoinks!- by slowly reeling us into micro transactions. You can hate me all you want, you can call me a fake Halo fan because I think Halo 5 is like looking at a toilet after diarrhea compared to Halo: CE, I think that 343 tried to bury the grave but Microsoft refused to put the dirt back on and showed them a way to be more stingy by forgetting all the good aspects of their previous work and do things to appease the fans while they sneak in micro transactions.
Yes, I am aware that the money used in these ‘harmless’ micro transactions pays for the free dlc we’re getting and it goes towards the HCS prize pool but that doesn’t excuse the fact that there’s micro transactions in a game that I payed $300 for. Do it, replay with words that will make me sit in the corner crying to my mother as I get shouted at by keyboard warriors but the fact is 343i is driving Halo into the ground, at least they are for us veteran Halo players (That being Halo 2-3)
I agree with you because probably with in the next few games they probably will kill chief and completely replace him with Locke since only 3 of 15 missions you played as chief

Halo 5 is a great game. As a long term CE halo player I can say that this game Ties Halo 3 for 3rd Place

The story is a joke. I’ve replayed every Halo campaign at least 5+ times and Halo 5 I’ve played once, because the story is so damn ridiculous. Everything they worked for in extended media and Halo 4… straight down the crapper.
Oh, and the gamemode options is a flat out embarrassment. Ive been supportive and confident with 343i in the past, but I’m done with it.

They must get something since a good portion of us aren’t so upset as to claim everything is the final nail or a flat out embarrassment.
