343 overlooks the soundtrack.

Honestly that video perfectly sums up what’s wrong with halo’s OST. He remixed a part in the campaign, and added a twist to the song playing, it fit perfectly, and made it feel SO much better.

343, PLEASE listen to this guy, halos music was SO iconic, almost any gamer could recognize the original sounding music, but with this new stuff it just doesn’t work.

And before someone says “halos original music doesn’t fit in this” please, watch the video I linked and tell me that doesn’t sound 100x better when he shows the scene where he replaced the song.

If you don’t want to watch the entire video, edited music starts here.

The new Halo OSTs just don’t honor the classics. I wish that 343 would really make more Halo 2-3 like music. So good.

Lazy link.

It has nothing to do with overlooking the soundtrack. 343’s music is very good, but a few more warthog themes and other classic songs wouldn’t hurt. Honestly, there’s nothing “wrong” with halo’s OST.

I really do not think there is a better soundtrack in Halo. In my opinion all soundtracks are amazing.
But I got your point. Sometimes the soundtrack does not complement the action/ moment in Halo 5, it is just a problem of “blending it together”.

The music is fine. I adore the music in Halo 5 and would argue that it does honor the originals. However, the amazing soundtrack is not well used. Listen to Osiris Suite Act II and tell me that the middle of the song doesn’t sound like something out of a flood mission. It is amazing but never utilized. That is what is wrong with the music in Halo 5, it is just not used right.

I agree, 343’s music is good but it’s not Halo. I can’t believe they don’t use the old soundtracks, they’re so ignorant. There were only two OSTs from Halo 4 that I actually enjoyed, the rest were all forgetful in my opinion. They changed the gameplay (drastically), art-style, and TTK, which is hard to stomach but when they changed the OST my friends and I were all left wondering why?!?! Change for the sake of change I’m guessing, which is super unfortunate. If only they knew that a lot of Halo fans do not like the direction this series is headed.

For me, it’s not that the music doesn’t sound like Halo because in a lot of the tracks (i.e Mantis/Walk Softly, Rock and Ice, and Kamchatka) I do get a Halo vibe. It is rather faint, but I still get it. What bogs it down for me liking the new music is just how repetitive it is. I hate hearing that same stupid track over and over and especially in areas where it doesn’t fit. For example, the Warzone intro scene. There are a total of 3 different tracks that could play there. For one, that’s too little variety, and two, IMO there’s one traks that feels out-of-place. If 343 can rectify those issues, I would be fine with the soundtrack.

The main problem with 343’s music is that they hardly ever incorporate the music in the game very well. I don’t buy arguments that the music doesn’t “feel” like Halo. Halo’s style of music shifts depending on the situation. When you fight, you can have rocking kinds of music, when the Flood shows up you’ve got that eerie music that sounds like an alarm going off, when the Didact awakens you’ve got chanting, there is not definitive sound as far as I’m concerned.

100% this. The soundtracks are all very good, but in halo 5, the placement wasn’t the best.

> I agree, 343’s music is good but it’s not Halo. What is the definition of “halo” music? Is it the jazzy music with the saxophone from ODST? Is it the flood music on the level 343 Guilty Spark? It is Arrival on the mission Midnight from halo 4? Is it monks chanting? Or is it just warthog themes? You see, you can’t define it. The music is whatever fits the tone. I can’t believe they don’t use the old soundtracks, They do. Just listen to the Trials. However, I agree that we need more. they’re so ignorant. **Why? You somehow made a topic about music into a topic about how "a lot of players don’t like the direction halo’s taking."

Responded in bold.

Edit: I wish I could make it into paragraphs, but when I do, it always deletes them when I submit it.

Definitely. I mean, Covenant Prayers is a cool song, but I don’t recall hearing it at all in the game for example.

They need more music like Incubus made for the Halo 2 OST. That is stuff that I still regularly listen to because of how amazing it is.

If I ever somehow got into a band with my mediocre guitar skills, I’d wanna play that kind of music.

Yah I think part of Covenant Prayers is just used in warzone. I vaguely remember hearing some grunts chanting like in the song in the Battle of Sunaion though.

One example is the song “Dominion”, it is simply AMAZING, but the way is was utilized into the game is a huge letdown.

basically with dome songs made by 343i its just remixes of older songs which just sounds wrong and some others are like “yes, lets just add more guitar riffs” which sound absolutely horrible if i put it nicely.

i know its not easy to make proper Halo soundtrack, but you can just hear when its done right.

nah, kindly disagree. Really amazing sound tracks. I mean even marty likes the composers. There is a lot of halo in it as well. Just not used properly for the game.

Halo 5 had some good songs, crypt and trials were both AMAZING, but we need more like them

One thing that 343 got right was the implementation of “Arrival” in the Halo 4 campaign. That was near perfect.
