343 needs to redesign some of the maps

The Team Slayer/Stronghold maps in Halo 5 are too cluttered and need to be simplified. With too cluttered I mean that there are too many routes and entry points to certain areas making it very hard to control certain areas. The Breakout maps however are a lot simpler and even have more details than the normal maps. Because they are simplet they just feel and play better and bring a classic Halo feel even with the new abilities. The maps need to get more flow by doing this and need to become more unique so each map stands out and feels unique to create a possibility to become a classic.

Maps need to feel tighter and need to become smaller and more close quaters with fewer longrange opportunities. This will create a much better Halo feel since we always had small and tight maps in Halo but it feels like they are becoming larger which is a very bad thing. Even with sprint, the maps don’t have to be this big and should be reduced in size to make the gameplay more close quarters and tighter. This is a key component in making a map so good it will become a classic map.

Thoughts?

I would like them to see how small of a map they could make, and still have it work well. halo 4 was pretty fast, it had skyline. a tiny map , but it still played well. because the smaller the map is the less you use sprint. if you use sprit a lot it puts you at a disadvantage. but if its to small many people will get spawn killed. so I would like to see if they could pull off a awesome remade map without increasing the size to much. Ivorytower, lockout. gaurdian, or some other good remake, or just a new small map.

They need to make sure there are as few advantages off-spawn as possible. Red Team’s spawn on Pegagus gives them the high ground from the start. Maybe they should take the Breakout approach and have the Spartans get launched into the map at the first spawn and it reverts to regular spawns afterward.

The problem with the maps is that they are either too large (Truth) or too cluttered, meaning there are too many entry points and routers on a map (Empire, Eden)

I think that’s what they were trying to go for. Maps with multiple entry points/routes can stop a team from camping in a location and just chucking grenades down a hall way all the time. That’s something that annoyed me. Truth’s size isn’t even that big.

One thing I like about these large, sprint-scaled maps is secure spawns. In Halo 2, as much as I liked it, I could get spawn killed by a eandom grenade across the map. In fact, in the Halo 2A killcams, I can even see myself spawn and die. In Halos 5 and 4, while the maps themselves were boring, the spawns were secure.
