i don’t know if you remember but the banning system in halo reach was great.
it actually told you that if you quit one more match you would get banned not like halo 5 where its just pops up and says your banned.
also, the banning system needs to know the difference from losing connection and quiting because i have been banned from that before and i know many others have been banned the same way.
343 please fix the banning system for the sake of halo

It can and does, but there’s not much that can be done about those that actually get kicked by the server vs. those that turn off their wifi, remove their ethernet cable or turn off their xbox. It’s not always the servers fault for someone disconnection and it’s all to easy for people to dashboard and cry disconnects

Yes this is true. Many times I have been kicked off the server (not booted) or genuinely disconnected. Also, we had a blackout today, while my brother was playing. Fortunately though, he wasn’t banned. My best advice, is, if you get disconnected once, just go play another game for a while then get back on halo, just to avoid 2 disconnects in a row (likely to ban). I do agree the ban hammer is somewhat unjustified considering the server issues present, especially for regional players.

i did not think of that i guess some hardcore people would do that not to get the ban hammer
Any news on if 343 knows how broken the ban system is?
I was playing griffball today and every time I got friendly killed it threw up a would you like to boot player option then I accidently killed him and he booted me
but my issue is not that its the fact that we can get banned for getting booted out of griffball despite the fact that it is a game type where team kills will happen because everybody is close and has gravity hammers or ban hammers if you will
my disconnects happen most in warzone, i managed to get to a 8 hour ban at one point. since then ive been playing a few games of arena before going back to wz when the warzone dc problem starts.
this seems to reset my ban timer for that session as well as reset the problem for warzone dc for a few more games atleast.

unfortunately, no they have not made any comments on it…

They made it stricter this Hammerstorm update, I believe the idle timer has been shortened for faster booting as well as stricter punishments.
I think they should remove bans in social playlists, so I won’t get banned because of bad connection. I have been banned twice so far because of bad connection, but both were just two minute bans

I got kicked from a game because I idled just to send a quick message to someone.

Completely agree. And not make K:D count either. It’s social a.k.a. for fun.
A fairly simple solution would be if the game sends you a message that you disconnected from a game and you press “A” to accept said message then it wouldn’t count towards a ban, if the game can acknowledge that you lagged out of a game by sending you a message, it should also be able to take that same information and determine whether or not you deserve a ban or not. This would make it challenging for people to fake a lag out of a match, they wouldn’t be able to dashboard or unplug your ethernet cable, because if they did dashboard or unplug the cable or disconnect from their Wi-Fi they wouldn’t get the message and then that would count towards a ban. You’re welcome.

The banhammer for DNF in social wouldn’t really affect me, but a removal of all stat tracking from social would make me cry tears of joy. A place where I could finally just not worry about my stats!
why ban someone that needs to leave for a good reason like life problems or someone might be having bad wifi trouble it seems more like we are banning people for needing to take care of something. and I understand that people leave cus they are mad at the game but it goes both ways if we stay and we aren’t having a good match we may not touch PVP for a while and may not go back in it again. why not ban people for the real things like T bagging others the hole game, or cheating. or saying messed up things in the chat but for leaving a match cuz I need to party with a friend or I want to get away from a toxic team
Please don’t revive old topics thanks
With Halo 5’s system it tracks over time and looks for patterns of quitting/disconnecting. You’re only going to get banned if you are doing it frequently enough. If you have really bad WiFi or need to constantly leaving to take care of things, you should really start thinking about prioritizing better. Look into stabilizing your connection / using wired where possible. Finish one match early if you have places to go or things to do so you’re not quitting out as much. If a friend invites you, finish the match you’re in and then join them. At max you’ll be 10 minutes, less if you’re mid-match.
