I’ve been having this really annoying issue lately, and even my xbox friends encounter this, where I will summon a tank or power weapon, spend a good minute or two blasting away at a boss in firefight, just to have it get killed by another teammate and to not give me the boss take down as well. This is extremely frustrating since boss take downs and points are tied to the amount of req points you get after match, and it also are tied to the boost Gambit: AI kills, and with the game not giving the points or take downs, it makes those boosts feel a bit wasted and the amount I could get in req points lower. This needs to be fix as it really doesn’t help enjoyment for me and my friends and will also help our boosts not feel a bit wasted and not make us lose out on req points we work towards and now are not getting cause the game decided to not work on distributing points and boss take downs.
That’s to be expected in Warzone Firefight; a lone player may sit back and watch everyone else do the work, and scoop in for the final blow. When it comes to racking up those kills for the A.I. Gambit, the Ghost, Wraith, Scorpion, and Wasp are excellent choices. I once racked up 125+ kills with the Hannibal Wasp before.

The problem is if your all suppose to work together on the boss, they should give it to everyone that worked on it, not just glitch out and not give it to people that spent time killing bosses. And I know hot to rack up kills with vehicles for the boosts, but also getting boss take downs help a lot with the boost so it’d be better if it worked properly.
You’re asking a lot this far into the game’s lifespan.

To be fair, we asked for this the moment we realized kill steals were a thing.
343 even made a joke video on youtube about it. See vid here.

Considering the game has to last almost two more years I think it’s quite reasonable…
I hate when that happens. The other day I was shooting a Banshee for a good 10 seconds before it blew up and it didn’t give me credit for the kill.

Yeah, I think the idea that a game’s lifespan has to be so short needs to go away. Here’s an example: Nintendo released their latest Animal Crossing game in 2013. Then, in late 2016, they released a big update that added a bunch of stuff to improve its replay value and fix glitches. I was very happy to see them give support to a game that, by Halo standards, would be considered old. Others may not share this opinion, but I would be happy if 343 improved Halo 5 as much as they could, before focusing on Halo 6.
Anyway, regarding the topic of this thread, I agree it’s very frustrating to damage a boss to within an inch of its life, only for some -Yoink- to kill me and make it so I get zero credit for my effort. How about this: if any player deals a certain amount of damage to a boss, say 10 or 20% of its health or something, then that player will be guaranteed a takedown, no matter when it dies or who gets the killing shot. That’s just my idea

That happens to much as well, especially for a boss.
Another thing I noticed is: at the end of a round in FF, say you been shooting a knight or banshee but haven’t yet killed it. Then someone else starts shooting it as well, even if it’s only one shot before the round ends, they get the kill not you.
What they should really fix is the bosses themselves. I’m tired of the repetition. There’s never any new bosses, it’s always the same ones and gets old really fast. That’s why I can only take one or two games of Warzone.
Agree 100% It’s frustrating to say the least when you do all the damage but don’t get the kill because you don’t get the kill shot. As long as your team kills the boss everyone who significantly damaged it should get credit

That’s hilarious
I’ve had this happen so much, it happened yesterday on a Wraith boss in-fact that I must have done at least 50% of the damage to with a Mantis. Come the end of the kill and I didn’t get the medal or any points show up, whether I got anything added to my score I’m not sure about.
I think since the start of Warzone Firefight I’ve got the medal for a Phaeton boss kill about 2 times, for some reason it never awards it to me.
I disagree… The window to get credit for the boss take down is pretty big. You don’t have to do to much damage at the end of their life to get a medal for the takedown.

Most of the community full well knows 343’s time is going to HW2 and H6 so you really are asking a lot. If by whatever magic they change this “problem” then I’ll gladly eat my words.
Besides, as LethalQ pointed out the window to get credit is pretty huge already. 343 did increase that once already.

They are hardly touching Halo Wars 2. They have a separate studio for that. We have never had this problem for previous Halos. They should have plenty of time for more updates like fixing Warzone bosses.

I swear that change didn’t carry over into WZ:Firefight, and it was standard only. There’s just… No way that it applies to Firefight too. It just can’t.
The number of times where I’ve been denied credit - even assist credit - because I had to duck behind cover or got shot down and the boss dies seconds later is unbelievable. Most recent example: It’s the ghost bosses on Apex 7. I have a splinter turret and bring the boss down to critical health, on my own. Both the boss and a regular ghost are firing at me and I duck behind cover. During the time it takes my shields to reach the point that they’ll start recovering, someone else shoots it a few times and it dies with me getting no points for it.
Though that right there is a big part of the problem: It’s not how much you contributed to the boss takedown, just that you get the last few shots in on it. You can AFK the whole battle for all the game cares, you just need the last few shots. Doesn’t matter if you nearly solo a legendary but died three seconds before it goes down, you still don’t get the credit but the guy that got there late and sprayed it a little bit with his Assault Rifle does.
As for WZFF getting stale… Yeah, it’s definitely stale at times. Especially since Rounds 3 ~ 5 are just “Get in a vehicle, don’t use Power Weapons” for the most part (The gavel’s pretty good on even some Round 5 bosses though!), and many PW’s really aren’t worth using at all. Really, I’d like to see some new bosses or wave compositions, but most of all there’s two things I’d adore to see: Offense objectives where you have to CAPTURE a base or DESTROY a target, but most of all I’d like an honest “Survive” type mode. Just last as long as is humanly possible (Though it’d still just devolve into “Everyone get into a tank!” after a bit, it’d still be nice.)

But it still needs to be address if they hope people can still find enjoyment, because if it keeps frustrating people to halo 6, people just won’t play it much since pvp matchmaking is already terrible at is, so if they don’t fix it, it can cause an issues for the game

also it sure doesn’t seem like they make the window big, because i’ll have spent all four shots of a spartan laser and yet nothing, I have had this so many times it’s unbelievable that it doesn’t even work most of the time on properly giving kill credit.
For legendary/mythic, I think a simple solution would be to give a kill to the 2 players who did the most damage and the one who delivers the finishing blow. That way your typical split between a powerful boss would be 2-3 awards. Everyone else could get a team take down assist.
Honestly, that’s how I thought it worked already lol I usually sit back and shoot with lame guns, then go in with a hammer/sword when the boss’ life hits about 20% thanks to focus fire.
