BEFORE PEOPLE COME AT ME GUNS BLAZING. I LOVE HALO 5. I PREORDERD THE LIMITED EDITION AND PLAN TOO PLAY THE HELL OUT OF THIS GAME
343 needs to be more honest with there fans. They seemed to have tried to blind us from the truth too many times. Need examples? They removed the population counter in halo 5. Why? Because people showed how fast the population dropped in halo 4. Splitscreen (the mother of all controversies right now) has been removed. I kinda understand why they removed it, but the way they hid it was dodgy. I bet you we wouldn’t of found out if someone didn’t point out that the download version of halo 5 said “1 player locally.” Even josh Holmes response seemed to dodge the bullet. MCC. They knew it was broken but they hid it from us ever since E3 2014 until it dropped.
343 needs to be honest with us. Otherwise people will distrust everything they say, and might even flat out leave halo because they can’t trust them. Be honest and trust us, so we can trust you
Yeah, they do need to be more honest. The back-and-forth dialogue I’ve had with some of 343i’s “opponents” has opened my mind to that a bit more. Also, the slow matchmaking times in MCC tonight were rather discouraging.
However, I also fully support what they’re doing with Halo 5. It’s going to be amazing.
We all have secrets, things you don’t want to be found out, either because people won’t like you for it, or there’s nothing you can do about it. Whether we reveal those secrets is our choice. Not other’s.
And on the subject of MCC being launched broken, 343 knew they needed more time, Microsoft forced them to release it. Same thing happened to Destiny, Lead Story Designer left, Bungie had to make a new story, they didn’t have time, and Activision made them release an unfinished game.

I’m unsure as to the chronology of events as it relates to Destiny, but I was under the impression that Activision gutting Destiny’s story was probably why Joseph left Bungie.
On topic, I feel like they’ve been as honest as they can in most cases, though it may require some reading between the lines at times. It’s important to remember that they are entirely subordinate to a larger corporate entity and as such may not be at liberty to say certain things or throw their bosses under the bus when questioned about what resources and timelines they were given.
They’ve also seemed to taken the Halo 2 Vista servers offline just now and didn’t make any announcement or warning of it.
If they don’t respect us, why should we trust them?
If they show the player count we would know how long or how populated a game type is don’t know what’s wrong with that unless 343i believes the player count will repeat Halo 4 and no one will play. I mean if that’s how they are going to treat us, people will have to wait longer matches, bad mismatches, and eventually play another game. This will help us know certain game types will either take longer without needing to wait and how popular it is.

Are you comparing personal secrets and product secrets ? 343i proposes a product and has the responsibility to provide all the information a customer needs to make his decision. What would your reaction be if the resolution of a TV wasn’t stated on the box ? Or if there was no way of knowing of many Ghz on the CPU of your laptop ?

I’m not stirring conspiracy or lies. Even if you take out my examples, all I want of them is to be more honest instead of keeping us in the dark about a lot of things
I think 343i have been pretty open and honest since and during MCC. They’ve learned alot of harsh lessons and to me, they’ve shown they’ve learned and are learning from them. I have no concerns
343 are honest about their mistakes but they need to own up earlier. Also they need to announce stuff like no split screen much earlier than August while replying to a tweet. As many people pre-ordered the game expecting split screen just to learn 3 months before the launch it wouldn’t be in the game.

They announced they were going to do that months ago in at least one bulletin but kept them up as some of the community asked then to. If they’re gone now, they lasted a considerable length longer than they were originally going to.

Or maybe they removed the population counter so people pick playlists by what they want to play, rather than how high the population is?
Seeing a playlist younlove with only a couple hundred players is discouraging and you usually would go somewhere else. Without a counter, maybe you’ll simply play what you want to play, regardless.

They didn’t hide it. Up until they started answering questions about it, splitscreen was planned. It wasn’t until a few months ago that they had to make the decision and realize that splitscreen couldn’t be supported.

Games don’t always react the same way in internal testing as in the open. Sure, more time was probably desired. But to say they knew this would happen and just lied to everyone? That’s utterly absurd.
343i is being honest. There are some things they can’t talk about until a certain time, or don’t want to talk about until more is known, such as splitscreen. That’s not lying, and don’t try to find issues where there are none.

Thank you for making this post so I didn’t have to.
This thread is just another example of people grasping at straws, desperately trying to find reasons to distrust 343 and call them liars. I have never once felt flat out lied to by 343, or even felt that they were purposefully misleading me or dodging questions.
