343 Nailing The Beta or Nailing Their Coffin?

For me, 343 absolutely nailed Halo 5 so far. And here is my evidence. I expect to see fair amounts of proof behind some of the arguments in this thread, at least to back someone else’s opinion.

Halo 5 is Balanced
•Thruster pack is effective but not over powered.
•Smart Link is aesthetic, and if it does effect gameplay, it isn’t over powering or taking away from Halo’s vibe.
•Clamber is quick and not too hampering of a player’s speed. It doesn’t out date trick jumps. There are some cases where even Clamber just isn’t good enough.
•Ground pound is very hard to master and can only be executed in very few situations.
•Charge is the same as melee in the sense of one hit takes shields unless from behind. Charge simply allows it to happen a little quicker. And like Ground Pound, it is situational and is only performed at terminal velocity.
•No more grenade indicators.
•Sprint is tied to shields.
•Movement is smooth, but not fast. Titanfall is a lot faster paced than Halo 5. Halo 5 just targets in increasing player efficiency, but across the board.

Winning is Earned
•No lone wolves. Your team has to perform consistently and together. AI callouts make this far easier in the case of ally lack of communication.
•Power weapons and map control are a must. They lead to victory.
•Just because you have all these abilities doesn’t mean everyone can use them effectively. Only the true ninjas can really use these to their max potential.

The Game is Fun
•In the words of Calhoun. “In the end, it’s all about the game.” Cheesy, I know. But Halo 5 is a kind act of service to Halo, and adding these functions with vehicles, BTB, and Campaign, I can’t be excited enough. These are good evolutionary advances and make the game utterly addictive.

For those who haven’t played, it’s like this. You can watch an action movie, but being in one is a completely different experience. It’s not about watching the game as much as clasping your hands on the controller and developing beads of sweat on your forehead. Thinking of each move, and swinging your arms after dying. The feeling of joy after each headshot and sick stunt. Each flinch or yearn to make that shot follow through. And to be honest, I have experienced all this in the Beta.

I dare to say that Halo 5 is the best Halo multiplayer I have ever played, coming from the dude who was there since 2’s day one.

For those who don’t want change, stay in MCC or look for another game. Halo isn’t getting corrupted, just improved. But if you want to keep buying the same game year after year, go to Call of Duty. (No offense to you CoD-ers.) Halo isn’t milking, it is refining.

Great minds think alike, and if two FPS franchises look similar maybe it’s because they are both slowly headed towards the ideal FPS. But Halo is once again ahead of its time for most FPS’s.

So, agree, disagree, on the fence? For whatever side you’re on, all I ask is for stuff to back your claim.

I’d argue against that but so many others already have voiced it.

Looking forward to it regardless. And hopefully we can shape the game to be the next best Halo.

I haven’t played it, so I can’t judge it either. I think it looks like a lot of fun though and I’m looking forward to the beta.

um no just no this game is terrible

Halo 5 is Generic, and by that I mean…Do you remember Gears Of War Judgment? Probably not. It was over before it began just like Halo 5 probably will be.
That is how the player models feel in this game, hollow, clunky, too bruuh, too many so called “inovations” that are in the latest COD, and also not thought out just copy pasted from Advanced Warfare i.e. same call-outs, movement, ADS, et cetera. Denying the similarities makes said person seem uneducated.

BUT the gameplay is EXACTLY like Advanced Warfare no steaks or class load-outs. THAT is why they did not carry over load-out systems from Halo 4, is because it would have been to obvious it were a copy/paste/pc mod job… Like Battlefield Hardline being a PC mod of BF4.

Halo 5 seems to run on a VERSION OF THE SAME BASE ENGINE AS ADVANCED WARFARE…

Halo 5 will be the trailer park game of choice. Generic.

I thought I was the only one who got ripped on GOWJ. Game was garbage. I guess we could change it to Halo 5:Generics. Beta is similar to AW, I will not be buying.

zOMG u totes caught the video game conspiracy! Every game is really a lie and just COD running w/ different skins! Illumanati is realz!
OT: I think Halo 5 is taking a step in the right direction. It’s taking successes that have been implemented in previous Halo games (ex: Thruster pack, which is easily the most used AA from Halo 4) and adapting it into a core feature rather than an accessory (Spartan Abilities.) They’re bringing back old weapons (I’ve been waiting for so long for the SMG to come back) as well as adding new weapons, which I like because instead of having a few weapons to try and fill a lot of different roles, you can have a lot of weapons that each fill only a certain role (Instead of the AR being CQB and mid-range combat like in Halo 4, you have the SMG for CQB and the AR for mid-range.) Spartans look and move a lot more like armorer supersoldiers and less like a guy in paintball gear, but I’m not sure how I feel about the automatic call outs yet. I’ll just have to wait to play the beta though to really get an initial impression!

People comparing this to AW only succeed in indicating that they actually purchased AW. Meaning they like generic garbage in the first place.

Time will tell. I am really looking forward to the beta. That will speak volumes. But I think they will nail it.

I look forward to the beta

@ OP

Almost every new game there is the feeling of this is amazing!!

Play it for a month then tell me what you think. Not saying you wont like it or anything, but you’ll get a much clearer idea of things that are good and bad once that “new game” feeling wears off.

There’s a reason why this beta is a year before the game is released.

I loved the beta preview over the weekend. I thought the game played great! The new Midship is awesome. I’m looking forward to the 5 other maps and seeing what other weapons they have for us.

This is one of the most ignorant posts I have ever had the misfortune of reading. I bolded a few particular portions from your “post” that made my IQ drop a few points. You’re quite obviously a destructive troll, who knows little to nothing about what goes in to video game production. It makes you seem… “uneducated”.

Ignorance from SuicideBlowPop aside, I have a few suggestions of my own that I am working on from watching several hours of the Beta so far. I’m waiting though to get my hands on it on December 29th before I send in my feedback. Initial thoughts though is it looks visually fantastic, and the game play looks really engaging to me. I couldn’t stop watching streams over the weekend from the Beta Preview, and I haven’t done that in a very long time.

I wholeheartedly agree with everything. No other Halo multiplayer ever got me as hooked as this one has. I love it.

If you actually watched The Sprint, you would see how the multiplayer abilities and the Smart-Scope and all that jazz was completed before 2014. No copying there.

And how dare you compare Halo 5’s engine to Advanced Warfare’s. CoD has had the same engine (albeit modified) for every game. It is old, and nothing feels solid. It feels like models can go through each other, and bullets don’t actually hit people but go through them. Halo has always had the engine that felt secure and solid.

This beta has been amazing. It is one of the most team-based shooters I’ve played in a LONG time. Great communication and tactics are very important to a victory. The combat aligns and improves the Halo style, modernizing it yet it still feels like its roots are in Halo 2.

And for everyone claiming they “copied” AW. Think about that. That’s some pretty fast development from the CoD reveal to the Halo reveal to make all of the new mechanics utilized in Halo 5. Not to mention the “Sprint” videos showing the time they were actually working on this stuff.

Great minds think alike. Only problem with AW is that CoD recycles so much and come out with a new game every year that no one gave a damn. Plus the TTK makes having any ability pretty much negligible.

Why do you guys think this is okay? Are any of you playing H2A? I literally can’t stop dying by grenades and now they’re getting rid of the detector. -_-
