343, Microsoft. Who's in charge here?!

Firstly I’m sorry, but this is another moan.

I have the standard edition. I am a massive Halo fan and have been since day one, but I couldn’t justify the cost of the limited edition. I recently just achieved level 70, but noticed that I couldn’t enlist in a new specialisation nor gain experience. I looked on the internet to find out why and to my disgust I discovered that the only way I could achieve higher ranks is to wait till I get a code (whenever that will be), have purchased the limited edition or live in the United States and play Halo online before November 20th 2012.

I’m sorry, but who the hell decided this? It is a pitiful treatment for fans and gamers alike. I can only imagine the conflab at the boardroom table went something like this:

343: We will give players access to all specialisations from the start right up to level 130.

Microsoft: No wait, we can really fleece the players here. If they buy the standard edition we could make them pay for a code in 2013 that will cost extra so they would have spent the same amount as the limited edition anyway!

343: I don’t know I think this might piss a lot of people off, especially Europeans, your second biggest market.

Microsoft: Nah, balls to them. Lets make more money, because we made a loss for the first time in 20 years last year.

All: Yay!

I love Halo and I love playing it online, so I will be buying the code or whatever it is regardless. I just cannot believe this is the way that online games are going now. Halo 5 a pay as you play? Don’t bet against it! I just feel sorry for those who have got to level 70 before I did. I won’t be playing it again till I can go further seeing as I’ve done everything else the game has to offer.

PS: Don’t wish to offend other continents. I am jealous you guys (in the US) get access. It isn’t your fault and you didn’t make the game.

Regards

You are supposed to get the code for free. I got mine on dec 2 at 230 am. They should give every person like yourself a code.

Lol

But what you said would be annoying. I haven’t played online yet, so I can’t go crazy. I see no big deal with how Halo 4 turned out it MP. Seems fairly normal to me. Apart from buying a code to achieve a higher rank…too stupid.

That was for those who played by a certain date. They’re supposedly going to be released to all players at some point but I don’t think they’ve indicated when that will be.

As you said OP, Microsoft has really stopped trying to hide their greed. Their screwing over 343 and forcing them to take part in screwing over the fans.

Having said all that, later the same day I read the bulletin and hey-ho we’re getting specialisations for free, just 2 at a time.

Not bad I guess!
