343 may have just shot themselves in the foot by trying to please Halo Fans

In the 2nd mission where you go through the walkway with the floating cylixes with different species on them, in the room with the elevator to the boss fight, there is another corridor that takes you to a room with a flood cylix protected by small superheated-shields.

This canonically makes no sense as the Forerunners wanted the Flood gone forever. They wouldn’t have captured ANY parts of their species in Cylix’s, especially an Infector Form. So while it may be awesome and great on the devs for implementing it. This form makes no sense.

My only reasoning here would be if the Forerunners knew Tik-Tok was going to be a thing. So they captured an Infection Form to wipe out Humanity.

The librarian contained the flood for a number of reasons. To further study its life form, to not completely wipe it from existence etc.

But that was on a shield planet. Not a ring designed specifically for the intents and purposes of destroying the flood.

Idk I haven’t read any of the books so I’m not exactly an expert on these things.

No, it’s been stored on rings. Look at Installation 04 in Halo CE, there was flood on that ring being studied. And it’s know in the extended lore from the books that Zeta Halo in particular was used for testing various methods of Flood resistance on Humans.

the forerunners kept specimen of the flood on each ring for study, which is why there is a gravemind on delta halo and a medium infection on alpha halo in 2 and CE respectively. why the forerunners would do this is beyond me, but as far as I know they had specimen on every instillation except the ark. until halo 3 anyway.

And look at how wrong that went. Surely Despondent Pyre was made aware of 04’s downfall.

I never said it was a smart idea, just that it’s what was done. Forerunner technology and A.I. are also highly compartmentalized to minimize information leakage in case of corruption, so there isn’t a guarantee that Despondent Pyre was aware of the issue at Installation 4.

But why would they maintain the practice? It has never worked and is always the downfall of the Rings and even the ARK

wrong each halo ring had a sample of flood to study to find ways to prevent a future outbreak in case the flood return which they did

Yes but thats the point isnt it? Some of the monitors dont seem aware of the world but some seem to know the status of the Rings. Surely Despondent Pyre could see that, 04, Delta Halo, The Ark, and the Ark AGAIN were getting overrun because of their flawed security practices

delta halo was the result of penitent tangent being lazy, or rampant, or whatever counts for rampancy for the monitors. alpha halo was contained until the covenant arrived. it seems that the other 5 halos including zeta have no flood infestations, or if they do I dont remember them being mentioned. and the ark outbreak was due to delta halos outbreak. in the games we play it seems to never work out, but 2/7 rings isnt so bad, especially considering the forerunners likely didnt intend for anyone to go there. the covenant were drawn there by religion, and the humans by necessity or accident. im not sayings its a good idea, but 343 definitely wasnt the ones shooting halo in the foot this time. bungie never really had a great explanation for it either. the forerunners were not the brightest when it came to common sense.
