To all 343 map developers. I’m not sure if you do this sort of stuff anyway, but I suspect not.
When testing your maps, you really need to get some games in vs some ruthless and efficient teams rather than just fun games vs fellow casuals. Encourage them to try their best, to spawn trap you, to humiliate you, to not give a hoot whether you have fun or not, to exploit power positions you never even imagined were there.
Because this sort of stuff WILL happen in matchmaking!

Thank me for THANKING him lol !!!

I stopped thanking people for a specific reason…
OP I feel the same way. 343 is probably having a blast driving off cliffs in Warthogs and enjoying the casual side of things. I do remember Josh Holmes(sp?) talking about how spawn trapping was really easy on Warhouse I believe. I’m not positive if that was the exact topic though… That leads me to believe that they are actually doing something right.
Thanks for the thanks
at SHABUTIE: You don’t happen to have a link to that discussion or maybe point me in the right direction do you?
OP I agree completely.
343 just needs to bring in people from the community to play-test the maps. Maybe get some of the HLG community to try to break the maps. Then bring in other people who are known for abusing the maps.
I can imagine that 343i will be doing this as they seem much more professional in their approach towards giving us what we want.

You really think they’re going to do that when they aren’t even going to have a Beta?

Beta only worked for a limited number of maps and is more to get rid of bugs and test matchmaking pairing up system to make sure it doesn’t crash on day 1, not to test every single map for player exploits

They also work for balance and testing too. They’re basically wasting an opportunity to have thousands, potentially millions of people QA and balance their game. No good game is hurt by having a Beta; they’re only helped.
And besides, it really needs it. From all we can gather, pretty much everyone working on Halo 4 is garbage at video games, which isn’t a good thing. While being good at video games isn’t a per-requisite to making them obviously, have people who are good at video games play them is needed to ensure they’re good and fun at all levels of play.

most people that play during the beta use it more for seeing if they like the game then actually testing it so really they don’t get very good feedback when only a handful report something but the majority doesn’t. they would get better feedback from guys who they know can break the map and put the map through its paces.

Agree. Much better to discover the exploits before the game/maps are released and who better to do it than the ultra-competitives and the HLGs?
Thousands of people all trying their own different ways to potentially break the game is better than just a select few.
But you’re right about why 343 isn’t having a Beta; they don’t trust their changes to Halo 4 enough to have a Beta and see if the people like it enough to buy it. They want us to buy it as blind as possible and hope we don’t notice it sucks until after they have our money.
Just like a certain other company…coughcough
