I guess this is my little fanboy moment lol, but i keep feeling like 343 is going to make Locke and Osiris on par or better than Chief and Blue team. I guess its dumb to worry about but i have always played halo because of the fun gameplay but also because i love Master Chief. He is def my fav character and after all he has done and 40 yrs of military i feel like Locke and his crew shouldnt be put on the same level. Not yet Chief has always been really epic and i feel like he is getting his HERO status kicked back a few notches in Halo 5. Does anyone else feel this way or am i just crazy?
I think it’s great that everyone is jumping to conclusions about what 343i is doing with Locke, how they’re making him appear, and that they want to frame Chief as the villain.
As for me, I still have no clue as to what’s really going on, so I’ll just wait and find out on launch day.
Although, I really want to see Chief pummel Locke into nothingness, and then the two of them team up. EDIT: And it’s not because I dislike Locke. I just like seeing Chief wreck stuff.
Nothing 343 could do would make Chief any less of a hero. And I don’t think that’s their goal, Chief is likely being painted in a controversial light right now because that’s how Osiris might see things but you’ll find out he had good reasons in the end and it won’t tarnish his character at all.
… that’s the point? Osiris is going to come into conflict with Blue Team. It’d be a hell of a boring plot device if Osiris got its -Yoink- pushed in the moment they came into contact, wouldn’t you say?

Good point but naw not really lol. They are the kids and blue team are the teachers. Hopefully blue team shows them some tricks.

I have a feeling that no matter how justified his actions, Chief isn’t going to come out the other side with his reputation fully intact
Chief went AWOL for unknown reasons and seemingly is activating giant Forerunner machines capable causing massive destruction that may or may not be linked with destruction spanning multiple human colony worlds. I doubt he is responsible for all of it and has good reasons, but acting mysterious hardly helps his case.
What makes you think that?

By the basic regularities of the Halo Canon Osiris wouldn’t even have a chance against Team Blue since all Spartan II are much stronger-according to Frank’ O Connor- than Spartan IV without armor. Now that Team Blue has also Gen 2 equipment like Osiris Team Blue has still the advantage, however, I don’t know what 343 has planned after all. Nevertheless, a Spartan II which is considered as a one-man-army is better trained than any Spartan IV.
I suppose Locke could not have formulated some tactics based on his research on the Master Chief to deal with Spartan-IIs due to their advantages?
I am just going to wait and see before I jump to things.
I could see locke being a noob combo kinda of guy lol. Like he could be very cheap when fighting master chief but then again what is cheap if your able to beat someone… right?
I like the idea of the hero’s loyalty being brought into question. Chief is a smart guy, he can fight his own battles and make his own choices. The only question is: What could make the Chief abandon humanity?
The mystery is what makes the story interesting instead of it just being Master Chief and friends save the galaxy after the UNSC orders them to. Halo 4 was interesting because the Chief was emotionally invested in his objective and everything was personal.
Hopefully this mystery about what is happening about the story carries through at least the first half of the campaign. Fps campaigns with shallow stories tend to be predictable, with plot twists that lose their impact due to being cliched and the opposite of unexpected.
It’s a good thing that 343i is bringing the dynamic of Blue Team being pursued by Osiris, instead of using a straight-forward story of a bad guy showing up and they have to find a way to kill him. It makes things more interesting, e.g. I am much more curious about what would lead to the fight between MC and Locke, compared to a fight between MC and a bunch of Covanent.
Of ci love chiefs character as much as the next halo fan, but at the same time this is what is making me hyped about halo 5. You dont really know whats going on in the story of halo 5 , its so vague that its really intriguing and i feel the need to know because i care about halos main charcters i need to know everything will be ok with chief ect and blue team lol. So ofc 343i planned that from the get go to make people want to play the game.
Its actually quite refreshing to have a new halo game where the story is still very much in the dark, all we really know is so vague its great. I hope they dont reveal anymore story wise. And im sure chief and blue team will get there fair share of the spotlight and 343i will probably string that idea along in the game to the point where blue team finaly get a big moment it will feel all the more better.
I believe Halo: Nightfall was made to show that Locke isn’t evil. If anything, he’s just been brainwashed by ONI to take out Chief.
Blue Team are Spartan 2s, god-like. Spartan 4’s aren’t. I’m sure there are no illusions as to who is still the boss.

i see halo Nightfall and i do not see Locke brainwashed by ONI/ONI gave bad info on Chief maybe and Locke no fool he knows that oni is not to be trust
If people listened to HuntTheTruth season 1 then they would know that MC was framed, that’s probably why Locke is after him but it’s unclear why he was framed. Basically the plot sounds similar to the first Judge Dredd movie…I wouldn’t be surprised if in H5 that they try to make a 2nd clone of John.
I think you people give Osiris too little credit. For example look at Buck. He’s gone through Reach and Earth and much more just like chief but he didn’t have armor and super strength to aid him. He went through fiery hell without a hazmat suit.

you need to re-watch HuntTheTruth it was the UEG the civilian government who framed Chief to hide incompetence. it was ONI who set the record strait.
