343 listened to the community. Good job

It looks like we can all trust 343 to give the community what they ask for. After months of badgering, we are finally getting a dlc playlist. Good job 343, you actually care

A shame that after all of the noise and shouts of fraud no one will play it anyways.

I do hope I am wrong.

Nah. Historically-speaking, DLC playlists in Halo 4 have always had very low population compared to other playlists. The DLC rotational playlists will be no different after a couple weeks.

I wouldn’t call this “listening to the fans”, but more like “here you go so you can shut up for a while”.

343 saw the demand for a DLC playlist, and then they saw the rotational playlists actually worked, and decided that they can shove 2 DLC playlists in the rotational playlists so we can shut up. It is sorta like how Bungie forced everyone to a single thread to discuss BR vs. AR weapon starts in Halo 3 so they would not have to hear it anymore.

343 is using the rotational playlists as a way of saying “If your favorite playlist isn’t in MM, don’t worry. It could end up us a 2-week long playlist.” They did it for Dominion, and they’re doing it for the DLC playlists. If they actually listened to the fans, the DLC playlist would be permanent.

ROFL, I remember that when they made only one thread for BR complaints cuz the BR in H3 was broken. I couldn’t believe how low Bungie was.

And what’s the alternative? Make a separate playlist for DLC, Dominion, Oddball, KotH, Race, etc.? You’d have about 25-30 playlists, which means that excluding BTB and TS, each playlist would have an average of fewer than 500 players during peak times.

The rotational playlists are the best way to make sure everyone gets to play what they want in matchmaking without horrible connection and skill matches.

DLC should still have always been permanent. 343 shot themselves in the foot because they restricted how many people bought their own content.

It made no business sense at all. These maps cost time and money at the developer’s cost.

Gamers have a right to access all content they paid for.

It’s pretty simple.

Dominion, Extraction, Oddball, King of the Hill, CTF, Ricochet, and Team Regicide can all be in one uniform 5v5 objective playlist. You cut out the unnecessary fat (CTF and Ricochet) and you add in more playlists that can be permanent (DLC, for example).

Now that’s not to say that’s where these objective gametypes will only.

 • Dominion can be added to BTB very easily , as well as 2-plot Extraction (So that would be 2 playlists, including Team Objective).
 • Oddball is already in Rumble Pit, can also be added to Team Doubles (3 including Team Objective).
 • KotH is already in BTB and Rumble Pit, and will soon be added to Team Doubles (4 including Team Objective).
 • CTF is in BTB and Team Throwdown (3 including Team Objective), and Ricochet is already in Team Throwdown (so 2 including Team Objective).

There wouldn’t need to be 25-30 though. If you give players more options to play what they want, than everyone is happier.

In fact, I’d say Dedicated One-gametype playlists (CTF and Ricochet) ruin Matchmaking, as they hog population from other playlists.

> The rotational playlists are the best way to make sure everyone gets to play what they want in matchmaking without horrible connection and skill matches.

The rotational playlists are the best way to test new gametype ideas or community forge maps.

If 343 actually gave players options, this wouldn’t be an issue.

Why should Dominion and Casual Extraction players (since Extraction is only in TTD) wait MONTHS just to play their gametype for 2 weeks?

I want new maps in matchmaking, so give us some Community Forge maps to test. I want to try new, zany gametypes that could end up in Action Sack. Race and Rocket Race would be perfect for 2 weeks of fun.

What I don’t want is gametypes and playlists to be shoved to the wayside just because 343 doesn’t know how to manage playlists.

We could easily have a dedicated DLC playlist. If Team Throwdown is allowed 100-200 co-current players, then so should DLC. We could easily have Dominion in MM, and we can still keep the Rotational Playlists, but for some reason, 343 just doesn’t want to do it.

They haven’t listened to the community in regards to playlist structure, and shoving Dominion, Extraction, and 2 DLC playlists into rotational playlists shows this.

Don’t you need to have all the DLC maps to play in this DLC playlist? I have the Season Pass which means that I don’t have all the map packs. But, i will not fall for buying map packs again only to be able to play on those maps for a couple of weeks, then, when 343 decides that Rocket Race is the next big thing, they will remove the DLC playlist and give us that instead.

Listening to the community would be giving us the option to play using the DLC maps content when we want, not every 6 - 8 weeks. I typed up a solution that would probably work for a DLC playlist that doesn’t require 30+ playlists. I’m not going to retype it because for one, it will not do any good to do so. Let’s just say that when you have Team Throwdown as a permanent playlist when it only has what, 200 players on a good day, yet you neglect the DLC owners and deny them a playlist, that looks bad.

A 2 week playlist just doesn’t cut it. I’m not going to buy more DLC simply because I need all the DLC maps to only be able to play on those maps for 2 weeks, then after that, things go back to playing Ragnarok, Longbow, Exile, etc… over and over and over again.

And I take back what i said in my topic post. I just played three hours of the dlc playlist, and I’ve only played dlc 2 maps. I think I played daybreak once or twice. Where are the rest of the maps? Is that it? Four maps??

Why is dlc 2 being shoved down our throats? Don’t get me wrong, I like the maps, and it’s dlc, but you might as well just call the playlist “Team Majestic pack”

> Why is dlc 2 being shoved down our throats? Don’t get me wrong, I like the maps, and it’s dlc, but you might as well just call the playlist “Team Majestic pack”

Because those are the proper maps for the given team size? Don’t tell me you expected to play Shatter in regular team slayer.

The following maps are available in the playlist:

Skyline, Monolith, Landfall, Daybreak, Harvest, Vertigo, Pitfall

You can see all available maps and game types for each playlist here: https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/intel/playlists

Majestic DLC is required, as it has the largest core maps that cater to team sizes of 4 players each. Maps from the Crimson, Castle, and Bullseye Map Packs are also available, but these are not required.

In future DLC playlists, the requirements, map availability, and selection will of course vary.

Thank you for posting this. This has been a concern voiced in the Team DLC Feedback thread. It is good to know that only one playlist is required. I will try to help get the word out about this.

I absolutely want a DLC playlist to be a permanent addition to matchmaking.

I would suggest though that they rotate this playlist, with a another playlist but it would be big team. So for 2 weeks we get 4v4 games on the smaller maps, then it switches to 6v6 or 8v8 on the larger ones. This will help keep it fresh and interesting so we will keep coming back to it for some more.

Then they could add and subtract game types in the playlist as needed, or wanted.

The other rotational playlist can then proceed as normal. Then we would have our DLC cake and eat it too.
