343 Listen to this yoink! if you want to bring halo to life again

YES! YES YES YES! LISTEN TO THIS 343i!!!

Yeah, he makes good points.

343 needs to take Ninja’s advice.

He makes good points, but 343 doesn’t NEED to listen to him, nor has an obligation to catering to the competitive community.

I love this post and completely support it. <3

343, Bring the competitiveness back to Halo!

Ninja makes valid claims and they make sense. Ranks need to come back, if not for Reach then for Halo 4.

Of course, it’s just one voice. There’s more to Halo than just ranks, the settings have to be good too. Then you have to make sure not to have zero casual playlists (which in the video Ninja says is a good thing).

With Reach, it just pairs you up randomly. It’s no excuse why I should go against players outside/below my skill level. Not only does not provide a challenge to the opposing the team, my stats get ruined in the process. Opposite applies too, being matched up with terrible team mates who betray and quit out or the other team isn’t that good. I am not the greatest of player, i never claimed to be this MM god tier warrior and I’ll be the first one to tell you that. I can hold my own, i got thumbs but really sucks being matched with .90s and below who are nowhere near me. It’s why we need something to measure that with and why it shouldn’t be hidden/being absent. Many start caring about Halo again just because of ranks, incentive to play that goes behind MMO like grinding that is the Reach ranking system.

I agree Rank System for Halo 4

343 needs to AT LEAST take this into account

No offense, but I really can’t listen to that guy’s voice. Anyone want to sum it up for me?

EDIT: Tried to watch the video, but he keeps twitching. He also keeps making the same points over and over again.

Fantastic vid with excellent points. 343i, pleeeease look at this.

back this guy 100%

Agreed! Watch this 343! And keep in mind to not putting Achievements to getting to high ranks like Halo Wars did. That is the only Achievement I can’t get!

For H4 it’s probably going to happen but for Reach 343 needs to stop making changes. It’s like trying to revive a dead person thats been cut in half…not going to happen.

Time and time again: no.

Halo 3’s system was horrible, and you don’t need skill-based rank to have good matchmaking. Halo Reach doesn’t use skill based-matchmaking which is why a skilled player can be paired with a bunch of noobs.

I wouldn’t mind if a skill-based rank returned, but on two conditions:

  1. Keep it a secondary rank to a Reach-like experience based rank.

  2. Do not make the skill-rank and the experience-rank interdependent like Halo 3.

  1. It promoted boosting, cheating, deranking, and started a dedicated black-market.

  2. Anyone could get a 50 if they really tried. In a real skill-based ranking system, only a few should be at the top, while most should stay between 45 and 25.

  3. Elitism. Now, this may have been a symptom of the Bungie forums, but if you didn’t have at least a 49, your opinion didn’t matter. I realize that a removal of skill-based rank won’t get rid of elitism all together, but it does cut it down quite a bit.
