343 Listen: TAKE GRIFBALL BOOT OPTION OUT NOW!

just got a wonderful 5 hour ban for accidental betrayal. It was only 3 times I betrayed the person. I dont know what got into your heads putting a betrayal option into Grifball but I have hit the last nerve with it.
heres an idea for you guys: if you dont want betrayals to exist, THEN TAKE OUT FRIENDLY FIRE! You do it in warzone so why not in a gamemode where it is bound to happen?

I know. It’s ridiculous. They didn’t loosen the kick restrictions for Grifball at all, which is a game hugely prone to accidental betrayals. I can think of only one game I’ve ever played where I was intentionally betrayed, and that was just once. Being kicked from games and then subjected to the unbelievably strict bans is stupid and unnecessary. Pay attention to this, 343.

Thank you! I once got a 24 hour ban and that was last sunday for betraying some guy twice in a game. If they want it so badly to be avoided then take out friendly fire completely from the game! They do it for warzone so why not for Arena and especially Grifball!!!

Well for Grifball, you kind of have to leave friendly fire in, otherwise the teams would just playerlaunch the entire game.

Not to be rude but… get better aim bro.

Grifball:

Betrayals ON
Booting OFF

Problem solved. I really don’t understand why this wasn’t and still hasn’t been done.

Totally agree

I don’t play GB, but I see this type of thread a lot. It seems obvious to me that accidental betrayals will always happen in this game. Easy to say get a better aim, but we all start somewhere.

What does my head in is I have been betrayed a few times in arena by complete morons doing it deliberately for whatever reason and I don’t get options to boot them.

Or you could just pay attention and not betray everyone.

Dude.

Have you ever Grifballed? It’s bound to happen, its been happening since Halo 3. Just why is 343i acting like they don’t understand the game mode they have been in charge of since Reach?

No thanks, I’ve had team mates many times spawn kill their own team far too many times. Learn to aim with the gravity hammer, I hardly ever betray people by accident.

Yep, I play Grifball and I generally don’t betray anyone in-game, if I do its once in a blue moon and certainly not enough to get myself booted for betraying. Watching your radar and using your sword when people are to close goes a long way, if you’re just blindly swinging a hammer the entire match you DESERVE to be kicked for your stupidity. If you see six guys running for the ball, don’t dash in and hammer them all to death. If you see an enemy ball carrier running for your goal, switch to your sword and take him out, don’t bludgeon your teammates and get yourself booted.

Common sense people, situational awareness, its a thing. Stupid people get booted, the system is working as intended.

Unfortunately it’s not that simple. If there was no booting, someone could decide they want to have a good laugh and screw with everyone else. Humanity isn’t so noble as we’d love to think. The booting protects us.

The problem lies with the execution of the booting itself. The frequency, the way it’s done, and the punishments that follow afterwards are all great topics to talk about. Lets focus on how to better those rather than the “tempting” proposition of removing banning entirely.

people whined and complained so hard they’ve been grifballed and wanted a kick option so badly. They even criticized the game developer if they didn’t hurry up and have it installed. I don’t think 343 is going to rush to the rescue on this one.

project cars community begged for a kick option to get rid of rammers in lobbies, I tried to tell them it was a bad idea because many times the kick may be abused; they thought i was looney and continued to push for host kick options. well Project Cars finally gave them what they asked for. Now, guess what? you guessed it, we have rammers hosting lobbies and abusing the kick button, they randomly kick players who are too fast for them to wreck. The same posters that begged to have host kick options, posted complaints about having it.

playing grifball, a teammate constantly jumped in front of me as i was going hammer the opponent, i managed to kill the opponent and accidentally killed my teammate with a single strike. preparing to attack an opponent then Wham! a team mate run in front of me to attack the opponent also, three time this happened accidentally, seriously and more than once=, i was booted. since then i kind of stopped playing grifball as much which is one of my favorite game modes. when i do play griffball I stay far away from teammates.

Remove the ban please! I accidentally killed my team mate and I didn’t even see him, so I was kicked out, banned for 20 minutes and Wolla! Played the game with him again and the guy betrayed me, where’s his punishment? Lol

I think they are getting in front of the hammer swing on purpose so they kick an unwanted teammate. and region lock keeps you playing the same turds over again, maybe?

That’s why a lot of my friends don’t even play Grifball we stick to any other game mode

Yeah this has put me off Grifball. I played one game yesterday and my game was interrupted when I was greeted with the option to boot a teammate, needless to say I didn’t do so. Bravo mentioned in today’s community update that they’re ‘tracking down issues with…Grifball betrayal thresholds’ so hopefully it’ll be solved sooner rather than later

This is why I don’t play Halo 5 griffball, I love griffball I really do but it’s a joke, I got booted from my first even match off it and it was like a slap to the face. Please remove this

Never been booted from Grifball. Do you want to know why? Awareness of where my team mates are and the knowledge that it is safer and easier to kill the ball carrier with the sword.

You get booted, you deserve it in my book. Does not need changing.
