343 Layoffs WOW

Literally the only people to blame are the higher ups

And Microsoft is to blame for letting them get away with it for this long

You mean the people who have no say in the matter and are only following the orders of the leadership?

Please say sike.

Like unless all the higher ups were on that list you’re dead wrong PL

Exactly, he was brought in to bring halo infinite on track and to make us happy and then he gets removed ??? 343 should make a vlog or blog and talk about how this affects everything. Season 3 will probably get pushed to august or September knowing them

Looks like all the layoffs are coming from the campaign/single player side of the studio, which doesn’t make me very confident about the future of Halo. Feels like they’re restructuring to turn Halo strictly into a F2P multiplayer game without any campaign elements.

I hope I’m wrong but after multiple bungled projects since they took over the property, it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if they decide to break away from Master Chief and just become a generic sci-fi shooter based around Spartans.

-Yoink!-. I’ve been an Xbox fan since the launch of the first console and the controller you could use to pummel someone with (The Duke!). I’ve watched Microsoft screw up so many studios over the last 20 years, it boggles the mind and is no wonder why they are in a position where they need to buy big publishers like Bethesda/Zenimax and ABK. Sigh.

And he did a pretty good job even when 343 tried using him to save face whenever they had him read out the bad news

You hit it in the head with your first paragraph, you aren’t wrong about a lot of the layoffs on 343s side being from the single player/campaign side. I just wanted the halo story to go on and halo is what made me love Xbox and the story. I hate this whole cash grab F2P formula, we all love chiefs story and the multiplayer was a way we could all come together and play and have fun. 343 blew it and Microsoft blew it by letting it get this and and this far.

You said a lot of stuff I agreed with and liked in this thread , hopefully we get some news on what’s going on. This sucks and blows.

Patrick Wren (Ex-343 dev) is popping off. He had some choice words for the management at 343.

I mean I do feel bad for the people that lost their jobs but that is how the world works. If you do bad at your job you get fired so it is what it is

The CEO of Microsoft gave himself a 10% increase in salary despite the fumbling of Halo. Why isn’t he affected? Besides, this wasn’t even a performance based firing.

They were firing people who’ve been there for a decade.

It looks like you guys were.

I was iffy on who was at fault because I wasn’t really sure what was going down behind the scenes but it’s pretty much been confirmed.

Management is where criticism should be directed.

Wow this quote from him here is crazy “ The people I worked every day with were passionate about Halo and wanted to make something great for the fans. They helped push for a better Halo and got laid off for it.” They pushed for a better halo but got laid off. So Microsoft basically said screw 343 and screw the fans that made us ? I hope the deal with activizion and blizzard falls through so they know how failure feels

Alrighty then. Just don’t go all evolvedhalo on them.

Isn’t that the person who attacks people just because he doesn’t like them?

This is entirely correct. Bungie wanted independence from Microsoft to do more than Halo, but to do this, the contracted demanded two things.

1: Two more Halo games.
2: Selling the IP to Microsoft.

People here do NOT remember Bungie’s LITERAL formal Declaration of Independence they wrote, do they?

Just saw this. I feel REALLY bad for the team.

Always have been, but that’s kind of just the thing. We knew -Yoink!- well that 343i’s management wasn’t good - but that even worse? Microsoft’s directives given to 343i, were just as terrible.

Developers over there have been suffering for a long time.

I’ve been tellin’ y’all for a year, Microsoft has been screwing 343i.

I have literally been saying this to everyone on this forum for the entirety of Infinite’s, increasingly short, lifespan.

Uhh. Well sorta. He’s kinda the Bungie era fan except he’s, well, extremely toxic.

People like him give bungie era fans a bad name

I kind of knew it when they forced infinite to come out when it wasn’t ready but I didn’t want to believe it, but today just made it clear Microsoft just wanted to milk as much as it could from halo even if the final product wasn’t ready/bad.

It’s just devastating.

:frowning:

Hopefully there is still enough talent and drive left to fix things.

But you got to imagine the morale there is plummeting.
