I don’t like seeing people lose their job BUT is it really that surprising? Infinite just isn’t performing and I bet probably not generating the money it needs. Hopefully they are cleaning house and can get some new people in who will make better decisions for the franchise. Halo is probably in it’s worse place ever right now. A very sub par live service game (which Halo should have never been) with probably the most boring open world campaign (which Halo should have never been either)… And this is supposed to make Halo last ten more years or whatever? I want Halo to survive but it’s barely clinging to life financially I bet.
This is probably true. You can only sell a player the same cosmetic once. And without attracting new players or making new purchasable content, that well goes dry fast.
343 IS Microsoft. It’s their own people.
Seeing Joseph Staten go was sad to hear as well, he had high hopes for the game i’m sure, and personally I feel like 343i should keep him around. ODST was always his baby though, a very underrated one at that.
Ok by that logic why did they lie to themselves?
Why are they not listening to fans until backlash but also listening to other fans of other franchises?
It sounds like he’s still sticking around at microsoft, which feels more like he left rather than was removed.
Because rare and sea of thieves doesn’t have a issue with its playerbase or staffing
Forza doesn’t have any issue’s
Which i don’t blame him he was put into the screen whenever 343 decided to do something to piss everyone off because they knew we liked joe
We can only guess how much influence Microsoft has on Halo… I kinda bet not much. Sure Microsoft owns 343 but once people are in place they probably are free to make the game as they see fit. I don’t see Microsoft looking over their shoulder to hard as surly they are probably pretty busy doing Microsoft stuff. In fact with as many mistakes and blunders that happened over the years with the game and the same person getting to stay in charge kinda shows they didn’t look to much at what was going on in 343. Hopefully they can find people with a true passion for Halo and will make Halo…well HALO, and stop looking at other games for inspiration and direction. Had they kept Halo a buy only game, where they could concentrate on making great maps for multiplayer, a linear campaign with fun missions on diverse landscapes… With a lot of features like co-op, being able to replay missions… Heck just a game that shines out the box like the first three Halo games when Halo was at its peak.
Now we can forget about rumored campaign dlc for sure.
This like if Microsoft was so hands on over 343 they wouldn’t have managed to lie to Microsoft for a bit
I just hope this isn’t the end. I only ever come back for halo. This one could be good it’s quite unfortunate. Better content and better servers. Seems to be cods formula. Just say this isn’t it
Microsoft’s 10,000 employee layoffs include Bethesda and 343 Industries devs.

343 was built from the ground up. They’re the people that Microsoft themselves chose to make Halo on their own. Bungie leaving just exposed them for being mismanaged, oblivious, and unorganized.
The only people they picked was the higher ups the rest was in 343’s hands and you know the first thing they did they thought it was a good idea to hire people who hated halo for halo 4
You’re acting like 343 was hand crafted by Microsoft
News flash it wasn’t they just gave Bonnie the tools to create the studio herself
Microsoft was willing to let halo rest
No they were not. They practically forced Bungie to make reach. Bungie originally wanted Halo to end at 3.
Seems to be a Microsoft wide thing. I knew there was a hiring freeze. But it’s worrying when Starfields staff are being cut and the Gears team which presumably are working on their next title as well.
We’re probably going to get a news piece on the site in a week or so hyping season 3. Stay calm and carry on. Etc etc.
Definitely feels like the breaks being slammed down on game development across Microsoft which is worrying.
You know Bonnie worked for microsoft right?
Microsoft is not a hivemind.
Technically they wanted halo to end at 1.
The people who blame Microsoft for most of 343’s boneheaded decisions tend to act like they are
