I’ve been a Halo fan since Halo 1 came to the PC and have tried to look on the plus sides of Halo 4 but the past 4 games I had in matchmaking have completely soured my views towards the game now. The first game was so laggy it got to the point where I died with no enemy even in sight and the other 3 I was put into a game in progress right at the end where the enemy team was dominating. Join in progress simply does not work in Halo in my opinion. I know that my connection shouldn’t of been the problem. Speedtest I know the upload is disproportionate to the download but my ISP only offers a 10/1 ratio >.> So here it is, a list of what I think is wrong with Halo 4.
As stated before I think join in progress is a joke in Halo. Yes you can argue the point that it can be good to have a teammate who quit replaced by another but in my experience those instances are few and far between. Mostly it is being put into a game where either the other team is farming you for kills or the game is a minute away from ending.
The changes to CTF. Now I’m not going to completely bash the changes as they do provide some pretty fun gameplay, especially when playing with friends, but to not include the classic gametype even after you said that you could in a previous bulletin is a kick in the teeth. If you didn’t include it because you wanted people to try your twist on it in MM then why not just include it as a gametype for customs? Which brings me to my next point.
Custom game options. You removed assault, juggernaut and race and didn’t provide a way to play the classic style CTF. The inability to disable sprint, change the infected’s weapons, removed the custom power-up and didn’t bring back VIP despite it being asked for by many of the forging community. A lack of a fileshare system is also terrible and I accept you are working on getting it up and running but as it’s been a part of Halo since Halo 3 I don’t see why it wasn’t available from the start considering you even took over Reach’s fileshare systems as well.
The removal of Firefight. I know you added Spartan Ops but I’m sorry, I really don’t care for it. I loved digging into a defensive position on a map and taking on wave after wave of covenant until they finally bested me. I’m liking the story of Spartan Ops but just find the gameplay a bit stale in comparison, especially when I die and respawn in amongst the entire enemy squad over and over. I appreciate that did occasionally happen in Firefight but it was generally pretty good at keeping spawns clear of enemies.
Ordinance. This has littered every game of Infinity Slayer with countless power weapons and makes the game far too random. Part of Halo’s multiplayer has always been controlling the power weapons and making the best use of them. With ordinance players can just camp back and keep dropping weapons in next to them. Also joining a game in progress to face an entire team of snipers, rocket launchers and incineration cannons is frustrating to say the least.
Custom loadouts. Now I’m not against these perse but spawning with a plasma pistol and 2 sticky’s renders a fair few vehicles such as the warthog and ghost a bit powerless and I know because I’ve done it! I have no problem with any of the rifles except the fact that the DMR needs a little toning down as does the boltshot. In my opinion no spawn weapon should act as a pocket shotgun. I was quite surprised with how well the AA’s compliment eachother though, no complaints there.
DLC integration. I’m not sure if I’m the only one but I’m sick of not being able to play the maps I’ve payed for in my favourite gametypes. I think they should start merging them into playlists in a month or two. Let’s face it this game has a 16 age rating, by that age you should be able to pay for a 800MSP map pack after a few months of it being released. I’m not saying make all playlists DLC required but it would be nice to play on them outside the nearly dead DLC playlist.
Emblems. I know this is a very minor issue but not being able to use the emblem I’ve used since Halo 2 does make me a little sad. I’d be glad to even pay a couple of 100 MSP’s to have all the left out emblems from past games put in.
The specializations fiasco. Not one that affected me personally but that doesn’t mean it isn’t an issue. I’m not sure why they would lock players out of content and level progression.
A visible skill ranking system ingame. Again, not one that I care for personally but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t like trying to increase my trueskill back in Halo 3. It was a challenge that rewarded you for persistence to get better at the game. I know people abused it but you found out who did when you got ingame and either stomped on them or got stomped by them. I know their working on putting a ranking system in and I’m actually quite looking forward to it.
That’s all I can think of right now. Please remember that anything written in this post is my opinion based on personal preference before you reply and try to keep it civil

dude all i can say is that the community has grown rotten and disagree for no reason. look games have come a long way from pong man. their is not reason to complain so hard all this negative stuff might be just but it makes the community look like 3 year olds who didn’t get to stay up late on new years. all hate breeds is more hate learn to accepted what they mad it’s all you get for three years. pluse why change the one we got make sure you say to not do it again . but some things can’t be changed it’s in the code and they would have to replace all of the game disk’s like that will happen. every time halo come out the community gets more like a wild mob and less like a fun place to be part of.

Stop defending this game man , it’s a massive fail and 343 dont care they are only init for the cash. They are doing to little to late. No the people complaining are not trolls they are long term halo fans who have been around since Halo CE who love Halo and hate where it is going. They have a right to after this game changed so much . They deserve a opinion after how bad this game is . If they didnt care about Halo they wouldn’t be complaining on the forums.
i especially want my evergreen tree emblem back and i want firefight limited again. i loved being the last one alive and killing like 100 enemies to bring everyone back for the next round

I agree the community does whine somewhat nowadays but that doesn’t invalidate some of the points made.
J.I.P and the customs options are perfect examples of 343 just not listening to the community and I will agree that most of the other points I made are 100% opinion but that doesn’t mean 343 shouldn’t listen to those who take the time to make a constructive criticism about the game.
I appreciate that a game should try new things to keep it fresh but some changes were just unnecessary.

Yet it has about 8,000,000 copies sold. And this is after everybody started saying its bad. And by the way, you have barely played the game. You just gave up on it probably because you suck, your just a mindless hater. And before you call me a fanboy, there are many things I don’t like about this game, like no classic playlist or good custom game and forge options. Just stop posting your opinion is invalidated.

Didn’t have to hold the tongue at all bro. Great points! Never have gotten THE full custom games experience so I sincerely hope 343i is working on that now! Never have been as unlucky as you with the ordinance problem, I just get pissed and shoot from afar with a LightRifle(yeah, sometimes I steal the power weapons from their corpse.). Some points were uncertain as I felt you weren’t with them 100%. Great post overall OP!

You are incredibly ignorant. No kidding the game sold 8,000,000 copies, it was a highly hyped HALO game that didn’t run a beta to let people know what it truly was. Copies sold doesn’t not necessarily have any correlation to the quality of the game. The online population is a much better gauge of that. You are a fanboy. You proved that with your ad hominem remarks that have no grounds to stand on. Saying ones opinions are invalidated because they have different opinions of you is immature and irrational. Youre opinions are not invalidated, however, I will know you are incredibly narrow-minded and have little quality input to offer any conversation.
