343, It's Time, Things Need To Change.

First off, I’d like to start this thread by linking Halo 4’s Daily Peak Population which has been collected since Halo 4’s release date brought to you by HaloCharts and GoBeyondEnt’s Halo 4 | Round Table Discussion [GDC Panel] Youtube Video.

I’ve been playing Halo since the days of Halo CE.

I’ve played through each Halo campaign and multiplayer experience.

I’ve beaten the Halo 1, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3 ODST, Halo Reach, Halo 4, and Halo Anniversary’s campaigns all on solo legendary.

I play many of Halo 4’s playlists consistently including Infinity Slayer, SWAT, Team Throwdown, Team Actionsack, Griffball, Regicide, Forge FFA, Team Forge, Team Objective, and Big Team Battle(not so much anymore).

I’m currently an SR130.

I’ve completed Spartan Ops, what’s been released.

Halo 4 is not a bad game but it has many flaws that create a multiplayer experience that alienates both the casual and competitive gamer, I consider myself to be in between both categories.

People who reach SR130 no longer have any game element that excites and pushes them to play except for working on their K/D ratio, waiting for DLC or downloading forged maps, waiting for new Spartan Ops episodes, or replaying the Campaign.

The Spartan Rank does not reset and won’t reset simply because of the money we all put into earning XP and the specializations we earned/unlocked.

Now back to the population charts, Halo 4 is steady at a Daily Peak Population of 35-40,000 after 6 months of its release date which started out at a Daily Peak Population of 400,000.

Things need to change.

Players do not need to have their hands held.

Players need to always feel like their advancing when they play good and they need to be punished for when they play bad.

Failure promotes determination to become better, to learn from mistakes.

Giving someone a metal or XP just because they participate or got a kill is not enough to allow players to feel that advancement.

Too much randomness creates confusion and frustration for both casual and competitive gamers.

Before you reach out to a new audience, you need to stick to the core audience you already have because in the end, those are the players who will play your game and stick with it as long as you give them that feeling of advancement, determination, and that there’s always something more.

Most new audiences play the game to play through it but then they sell it back to get newer games(which could be the very explanation of why Halo 4’s Daily Peaks are so low)

Story is not everything for a game, the players gameplay experience matters above all.

The gameplay mechanics carry the greatest weight for the player’s experience because if you’re being fed a story but you can’t move your feet or something is in your way, that story won’t hold that players attention forever.

Halo 4 has the capability to have the most balanced and amazing multiplayer experiences of all Halo games, many custom games show this such as when you play on an accurate remake from an older Halo game with 4 shot BRs, no instant respawn, and no sprint.

It’s 343’s turn to open their eyes and to make the necessary changes before they lose their true fan base.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, feel free to express your thoughts and opinions.

I hope the majority of you feel the same as I do.

I will end this thread with links of other threads.

Please, listen to your fan base 343.

Completely agree.

If 343 just admits they messed up, put their noses to the grindstone, and change a lot of core things about Halo 4… I think that’d go a long way to saying “We have heard you. We won’t go wrong with Halo 5.”

Get rid of Flinch.

Fix Custom Games.

Option to toggle sprint.

Fix the DMR’s bullet magnetism.

Remove the damn Boltshot.

Scrap the Loadout and Ordinance systems.

AAs and Power Weapons on-map.

In-game ranks (You can do it, I believe in you).

Ranked/Social playlist structure.

That’s just a small list to get you started, 343. Listen to your community. Prove that you aren’t just going to keep going on without us. Fix Halo 4, and you’ll have earned our trust for Halo 5 and beyond.
