I am a big Halo fan, the story has had my attention from the very beginning. Bungie brought us this story, and made it not only fun but a cult classic as well. The music is ICONIC, and the characters are amazing. They continued to do great things until they left Halo behind…
Now we are here at Halo 4… I am not here to flame this game, but I am here to say that I feel disheartened by this game. The campaign was fun, I enjoyed the story, but the feeling of Halo wasn’t there. Mainly dude to the poor score. In previous Halo’s Marty’s score was so perfect for what was going on in the game. It gave it an awesome feel and really added to the experience. Halo 4’s score felt like background noise. Almost like being in an elevator, you didn’t even notice it was there.
The multiplayer for Halo 4 is another topic of discussion. I could complain about it, or I could praise it, but instead I will say this; it was inevitable. I knew eventually Halo would be changed to join the bandwagon of the COD style of game play, but I didn’t think it would follow it so closely. Although I do believe that this should be see as a trial run. I hope as 343 continues their Halo games, they revert back to the ROOTS of Halo, and realize that making a game a mimic of another is not what sells. COD will outsell Halo 4 because Halo 4 doesn’t feel unique, it feels like a clone. I will continue to play for awhile, but even just after a few days I feel my interest waning…
I do enjoy this game, but I must say I am disappointed. I think Bungie’s shoes were just too big to fill. I miss Bungie and I look forward to what they have in store next. 343 thus far has been a disappointment.
My biggest suggestion to 343 after the failed launch(server issues and such)… Beta’s are done for a reason. Yet another reason Bungie will be missed in the Halo series.
I hope 343 learns from this game, and takes a closer look at what makes Halo what it is. Maybe next time. Until then… I look forward… See you starside.
I have to mostly agree with you about the campaign score. I wouldn’t say it’s poor, but I just kept wanting to hear the chants or the piano theme from Halo 3. I know that the chant was there just for a second in the campaign, but still.
Let me put it this way: Even though there have been many James Bond movies depicting different scenarios in different era’s, they all share the same main theme. Same goes for Star Wars, or Batman, or Superman. They all have one unifying theme song that lets you know what you are going to experience.
You wanna know why CoD is so successful? Because it changes developers but keeps the same game play which means new ideas to revamp the game but the same meta (well almost).
Bungie started to do this with AA’s which annoyed a lot of people, but also got the attention of a lot more
343 now added their own personality which once again, annoyed a few people but attracted a lot more.
If Halo didn’t switch developers, it would die out.
> If Halo didn’t switch developers, it would die out.
That makes no sense whatsoever.
Sure Halo needed a change, but perks and kill streaks? Hell no.
They should have gone with original ideas that promoted balanced game play, instead of forcing everyone to use dexterity.
The roots of Halo have grown deep under Bungies careful tending. Where there is life, the wisdom of their countless generations has saturated the soil. Their strength is a luminous sun, towards which all intelligence blossoms… And the impervious shelter beneath which it has prospered.
Halo is an awesome saga, but when reaach came out it started to die, then 343 came and pushed it over the edge, with halo 4 and all of it’s changes halo DIED
the campaign is worthless, the story might be okay but your playing the same thing over and over again its nothing compared to former halo campaigns, the multiplayer has too much overpowered weapons, maps are to big for real intense games, there is no ranked system so its not competitive anymore, the only rank there is you get just by playing alot, c’mon 343 what where you guys thinking???
You guys raped the game soooo much people loved to play, i havent even played a full day and i already lost my interest in it, limited edition doens’t have anything extra that makes it cool, it’s just… i don’t know,
microsoft and 343 really disappointed me with the coming of halo 4, the only people who like it now are the kids that play COD and that game sucks, so you made some people happy with it by making it a really playable game for all the noobs that normally couldn’t match with the real halo fans, you destroyed the game we all loved and im real sad about this, how could you guys make this happen???
> I thought Halo was getting stale, it needed a revamp.

> That’s exactly what has happened. It’s stayed true to what I consider “Halo” and I’m happy for it.
I can understand your perspective on that, and actually agree to an extent.
Do you think that the multiplayer style is too much like COD though? Like it could use some tweaks to make it be some sort of a hybrid? Along with that, are also a COD player?

You hit the nail on the head. The score is honestly what killed it for me more than anything. Halo 2 and 3 had amazing sound. Hell, look at the awards Marty won for them. I also just cant buy into the whole Cortana became physical thing… but that’s another topic…
but the reason reach was worse then its former games was because bungie allready knew it was going to 343, so i can’t blame them for just making a game with a little less interst cause it wasn’t theirs anymore, but halo 4 isn’t halo like halo should be, halo 4 is just a random shooter and my opinion is that bungie is the best and we really need them!!!

I will agree and disagree. Yes I do believe a change of developer MAY help a franchise such a Halo, but I dont think this change brought MORE fans. Once COD comes out you will see a giant fall of users playing halo 4 and I believe we will continue to see a steady decline. COD will also Outsell Halo4. This is simply because this new Halo I dont think has the staying power. Much like some other COD games have not.
I think this is a stepping stone to what will hopefully be a better game next time around.
If there’s one thing 343 should try and do… is contract Marty from Bungie to do the score if at all possible.
The Campaign was the most invested I have ever found myself in the series, and the MP is great fun. It doesn’t play like COD, that’s for sure. I think 343 have done a stellar job, and I look forward to the future of Halo. Bungie will always be respected, but I feel they were diminishing and the franchise needed a revamp.
As a lore fan first and foremost, I appreciate 343’s greater emphasis on story-telling. he music was also fantastic, and played at the right moments. Sometimes I didn’t mind dying because I just loved the music, and how it got me so pumped during an engagement.
and everyone that posted in the poll, yes they did better then expected needs to get that -Yoink- out of his ear and look what the game became it’s a waste of time and money

This. Games takes ideas from other companies all the time, fine tune them, and put them in their game. Halo drastically needed a revamp and it got a really good one. I love loadouts and the perk system. Most importantly though I’m really glad they kept the integrity of Halo CE, Halo 2, and 3’s fast gameplay to give it that true Halo feel.
Just because things aren’t exactly like Halo 2 doesn’t mean it doesn’t mimic the gameplay. Halo 4, IMO, is on par with Halo 3 and a little below than Halo 2.

Bungie will not ever be back for a Halo game. 343 will do 3 halos games and go from there. If all else fails Microsoft will push what money they can from the Halo name until it fades away.
It does feel like another Random shooter, I agree.
I personally look forward to what Bungie is doing next, because I don’t feel that 343 as a developer will or can do this series justice.

Not to sound rude, but what soundtrack were you listening to? lol I cant recall one part of the game from memory based off the score. Halo 2 and 3 for example if I hear pieces of music from it I could tell you exactly what part of the game it’s from.
You are the first person I have heard who wasn’t disappointed by the score. Keep in mind I’m not trying to attack you, I’m just very surprised.
