343 is trying to kill BTB

343’s Halo 5 has been a very fun game to play but what is extremely annoying is 343 complete neglect of the BTB playlist. They did not make one map that is big enough for vehicles in any arena playlist. What made halo revolutionary was how vehicles played such a big part in the game play. 343 has left it to the community to make all of the BTB maps and this is hurting BTB playlist. Every single halo had their Big team Battle map that had the memories on it. HaloCE Blood Glutch Halo 2 had Zanzbar( could be used in 4v4 as well) Halo 3 SandTrap,Standoff Halo Reach Spire Halo 4 Exlie,Complex. The forge maps are fun but they are messing the effort of a million dollar company. Instead it has to be made by the community in their living room No matter how good a forge map 343 would make them better because they are a million dollar company. Also the game types in BTB is shallow if you get a game type it is strongholds, Slayer, CTF, where is assault, One Bomb, One Flag. Big Team Battle was one of the most popular gametypes in the Halo Franchise and now the developer does not even add to it. I know majority of the community has now turned to Warzone for their large scale halo needs but this is not BTB and many people do not like it. 343 is trying to kill BTB so they can get more money from Warzone. 343 did make a great game type in Warzone and majority of the community should like it but BTB still needs attention and Maps made by the 343 could be used for many other things the forgers can add to it their own variation (343 Does love varation) also they could be used for team snipers, infection playlists , Multi Team or what ever the community can think of. I know forge maps are just enough for the community but BTB still needs so love from the Developers not just the community.

Lastly I wouldn’t mind if they just cut down the Warzone Maps and used them as the Big team Battle maps with both armories being the main bases. Skirmish of Deathstar (I forget the name) could be a great BTB map all it needs is weapon spawns. All I want is 343 to give BTB a chance and add some of 343’s content and resources into the game type

if they are such n integral part then shouldnt the community be making vehicle friendly maps?

The Big Team Battle is already dead. 343 wants you to play Warzone rather than the Big Team Battle.

The problem is that 343 can’t outsource these projects for BTB to anyone else to work on. In Halo 2,3,4, Reach,Anniversary, and MCC all multiplayer components were made by Certain Affinity. Certain Affinity is now working on making the multiplayer component in DOOM. So that means 343 has to create everything in-house with a very small team… So 343 has to regulate and make compromises by shifting their priorities and focus around. That’s why we have these monthly content drops, so they can focus specifically on one thing to try and get it to us quickly.

But, I’ve speculated we might be getting full on BTB support in the “Hog Wild” update along with the race gametype. It just makes the most sense. So here’s hoping. And the community has made some very very great maps.

Except for a few of the launch ones… Deadlock, Antifreeze, Basin, and Recurve still give me nightmares. And some new ones like Eagle Square and Boulevard are okay but are way too overcluttered and visually messy. It suffers from the “Antifreeze” effect as I like to call it. Those maps are visually noisy, and are made as BTB maps but small with too much emphasis on Spartan Abilities. So the maps are small but suffer from having to perform too many actions or running a lot to get to the action… And the spawning is off.

Hope BTB returns to its glory. And Hog Wild is a BTB update. But knowing 343 it may just be in-house Forge maps or 1 or 2 maps real maps like every DLC soo far…

Certain Affinity helped with parts of those games multiplayers, not the entire thing. Bungie did a lot of the work for their games, and 343 did most for their own.

trying to? OP they already did kill it. They released it and then put it on community life support.

it shouldn’t be completely the community’s job to support a playlist in 343’s game.

Yeah its dead which is a shame it was may favourite game type in previous halo’s

BTB died when they had the community make the maps.

But back then they didn’t have to manage warzone, which has maps that are 4x bigger than any halo map. If BTB was dead, 343 wouldn’t have added double the maps made by the community.

I still have hope that they will make at least 1 or 2 maps

Some one is bound to of made some classic heavy BTB maps

I hope 343 takes an update off of focusing on Warzone and give Big Team so maps hopefully it will be Hog Wild

So it’s up to the community to keep a popular game mode alive, instead of 343 properly supporting it?

I see what you’re saying, but many devs have let or allowed their communities to take part in supporting game modes. I have no issue with 343 letting the community work with btb so long as 343 can do decent work on other parts of the game while also making sure these forge btb maps aren’t exploitable and such.

It’s fairly self evident that they want you to switch from BTB to warzone full time, and while you’re at it you might consider buying a req pack.

u wot m8?

Their contributions to Halo prior to 4 were Tombstone, Desolation, and the Defiant map pack (which, if I’m not mistaken, wasn’t release until well into 343’s tenure as the new Halo developers).

I have to disagree with the btb and warzone thing. I think btb has more options than warzone and is much more enjoyable. Warzone is -Yoinking!- boring now so I just can’t see how 343 are pushing for warzone over btb. If they were, I would’ve figured it’d have much more to offer 6 months in by now. I don’t see the reqs as a reason to help support how they’re pushing warzone either, especially when I can get everything by playing arena. Warzone just speeds it up, which it should being how it’s more time consuming.
