People keep referring to “Whales”. This game stuff costs $20. Ain’t no whales here.
You ever Play Lineage ll Revolution? All the bundles are $75-$200 and you gotta pay like $1000/mo to compete. $20 skins once a week is basically nothing lmao.

Lol maybe they could make a good game with all features released at launch and remove all toxic monetisation. That might get them a “win”
Yeah you’re not getting those days back because video games are massively more expensive now and people generally won’t pay more than $60 for a new game. Sorry bro.
If they are a terrible company get off the forum and stop complaining.
Nothing you have said diminishes good gameplay. Its a fricken free game. How poorly can you create a bad argument?
I don’t get why you all think you are owed something by game developers especially when you can play for free.
If it gets boeing to you after a week and you don’t want to spend money, move the heck on. Its not the only game on the planet.
I just want to make it clear, I am most certainly not complaining. In my eyes, they aren’t a bad company. I’m just saying that other people say that. And in some ways, they aren’t the best, but they’re not bad either. 343 is a good company in my opinion.
Somehow you both took my exact thoughts and put it into writing. The game is very much playable. Some minor fixes are required, but those will be worked in due time. A multi-approach to the progression/customization system is a very smart idea that caters to everyone. Both players and 343i. IMO, some big changes will come towards Season 2. This gives them time to work on customer based feedback, while also implementing fixes for the various bugs. It appears they came a long way, in the one year delay, and I would expect there won’t be as much holding them back now as when they were mid development.
They knew about the backlash over their incredibly predatory progression system, we told them we don’t want challenges, we want an actual progression system, with levels, with exp gain, just like in previous Halo’s.
They’ve known that for months, since before the Flights they’ve known it. YET, They give us exactly what we didn’t want, and are now trying to adjust their own aggressive system to lessen the blow, It’s two steps forward, one step back, they’ve given us the worst possible version, expecting backlash, so dialed it back as a way of “listening” the community, they’ve adjusted it to look better, and sound better than the previous version.
BUT NOW, they’ve introduced a 7 game progression system where you gain enough exp over the course of 7 games, to make it look and feel like we’re making progress… cool? Yeah but it’s still not what we wanted from the beginning.
They won’t give us something that’ll earn them less money, they’ve got a vice-like grip over monetisation and won’t discard it for our benefit, they’ll adjust it to still suit their needs and make it look flashy to try and pull the wool over our eyes.
Yeah, they’re trying, they’re trying to keep their aggressive monetisation, trying to keep the grind, and keep the pressure on you to buy EXP Boosters and Challenge Swap Tokens, because all they’ve adjusted is the EXP gain, and even then, when you crunch the numbers it probably isn’t all that great or different anyways, so it’s all artificial changes that are only surface deep.
They won’t be making a step in the right direction until we get what we wanted from the beginning, a proper EXP progression system, not a predatory, aggressively monetised challenge based progression system, all the challenges have done is just ruin the core gameplay by incentivising not playing the game and running solo.
Yeah id love to access the wealth of cosmetics the game has locked behind arbitrary paywalls, is that such a terrible thing?
First, the paywall isn’t arbitrary. The company budgeted for those cosmetics and their method of recouping their investment is through MTX.
Second, I’m not saying that you shouldn’t be able to earn credits in some way. I’m just loling at the phrasing “a good start would be offering credits for wins,” which is hilarious that you think that’s “a good start.”
I bet you don’t do challenges much or do double xp wisely, I’m at lvl 50 on my battle pass and I always prioritised Challenges with the double xp and I only play every 4 or 5 hours a day if that
“on my battle pass” and you’re part of the problem. Point is there’s VERY little incentive to even want to level up. I could careless about the challenges. You put them behind the most basic things behind a paywall. Color? Really?
I did not read through this topic. I just wanted to say that I read the first sentence of the title very differently at first. Like “343 is trying folks”–as in trying their patience. Not “343 is trying, folks.” Heh.
Anyway, anti-consumer businesses shouldn’t be defended by consumers.
What an interesting take. So after bringing out 6 Halo’s (Halo 4, 5, MCC, Halo Wars 2, Two mobile Titles and Infinite) 343i is really trying? At least half of those games came out without the most basic modes or ranked playlists, it’s always coming months later when population is thinned out. There really is no excuse for all the things that happened to Halo 4, 5, MCC and now Infinite in the first months.
Too many times I try to tell people that it will soon be fixed (to defend 343i), and then it still took months (even years with MCC) before changes went the right way. It really killed the opportunities to keep people playing those games, while some of them were heavily catered to players of other games (like COD and now F2p-shooters). They are not even the people that would stay and play the game and the games are so changed that they won’t keep big Halo fans.
Microsoft and 343i should be ashamed that they keep on releasing unfinished Halo games.
Right now I care more about them nerfing the AR and buffing the Ravager and a few other guns over cosmetic stuff.
Considering you can gain a level every day over the course of doing 6 matches for 100 days you get to lvl 100 ironic init
I don’t want a sea for microtransactions, is that too much to ask?
Microsoft are the people to lambast for that grievance, and microtransactions as a whole. Granted, our complaints for the microtransactions will make it up the ladder eventually, but too many people have gotten too comfortable blaming 343 Industries for everything including an overcast, rainy day.
I couldn’t agree more. 343 has been doing this long enough to know how this system would play out. don’t COD Halo. I don’t play much in one setting and this progression dose nothing for me. team game are ruined because of the challenge system. the pay wall makes us the customer think that 343 doesn’t care about us only money.
update: my frustrations should be aimed at Microsoft. they have finale say on these matters are most likely steaming from the top
All this! 343 fouled this game up in ways never thought possible and we should be grateful? Take a hike!
