I agree. I think most players have a problem with the cost and uniqueness of items for sale. I’m sure if the cost was lower and the rarity of items was increased, there would be less complaining and more purchasing.
Preach it Rohkeg.
Halo 4 ( I did enjoy the campaign a lot) multiplayer was severely lacking, MCC was a broken joke. Halo 5 single player was awful but had fantastic multiplayer.
This battle pass is about as motivating as a blind date with a 400 lb 5 foot tall woman.
This guy gets what I’m angry about. Also, all the time they spent working out their monetization schemes could have been used to, oh I don’t know, create more content for the game.
And I know you believe this point I’m about to bring up, but if anyone else wants to believe it or not; they still will turn a profit; they’ll still make actual money from the general release of the game. All these monetization schemes they pulled do nothing but harbor resentment from the fanbase. Oh, and the fact that these monetization schemes should have never been done in the first place because like I’ve said numerous times on other topics in this forum, THEY STILL TURN A PROFIT FROM SELLING THE GAME.
The monetization scheme is pointless and just a general slap in the face to the players and fans of the series.
P.S. I’m actually agreeing with your point 100%. This is for all the people in the back who want to stay ignorant & play dumb about the whole situation.
On top of that many of us OG Halo players don’t give a -Yoink!- about the battle pass.
I would love to have a reward system like MCC where I get XP based on my performance. Get a double kill, triple kill, a killing frenzy, here’s some XP. I don’t even need it to go to the battle pass. Let me rank up via the military ranks on the side and I’d be happy.
Have you? Because I definitely write software when I’m on my PC, creating mods for certain games, patch work for emulated games and creating more content on mugen and the like than 343i has done for this travesty.
The fact of the matter is that it’s complete bullpucky what they did to this game. They had no need to create a grifty, grindy game that incentivizes a profit first monetization scheme that tricks impressionable people with dark patterns into spending they’re hard-earned cash on solution-selling.
The fact still stands that while this is a f2p game, it doesn’t absolve them from what they have done & that they still will turn a profit from the general release and sale of Halo Infinite. The whole “this game is f2p” is a dead argument and needs to stop.
The people who are angry have every right to be angry. Especially for the reasons I have listed above.
Not really falling for it:/ I saw this coming. Going to dangle the carrot and toss a scrap to make it look like they’re doing us a favor. They -Yoink!- well knew this challenge xp b.s. wouldn’t fly. I’ll check out the campaign next week but the mp isn’t going back on my machine until it’s properly fixed.
Btw, I find it hilarious that some who are complaining about the prices on BP are STILL throwing money at it. Amazing!
You do know the store is completely unnecessary and whether you believe this or not; they’ll still turn a profit from the general release & sale of Halo Infinite, right?
It’s good that they are at least trying to fix (or at least for what they’re letting on) their mistakes which I do give credit for because not a lot of companies would do that, but it still doesn’t excuse all the shady and stupid stuff they’re trying to pull like the whole microtransaction system that’s put in place
I’m saying it’s not realistic to think they’ll do away with the store entirely. It has a large chance of boosting profits. They could compromise by tweaking the system, but I doubt it will ever cease to exist.
Another good step going up the escalators stairs that goes down.
I don’t think those that are spending money on this used “hard-earned cash”. I don’t see responsible, hard-earning, players spending a dime on this game, past the battle pass. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Unless you’re POTUS, then fool me once, pancakes. Fool me twice, butterflies. Wait, who are we fooling?
I agree. This ENTIRE forum is literally just people crying and crying and crying and crying. I use to enjoy coming here to see what’s up and it’s just the same thing over and over.
What everyone has wanted since the early Halo days is great Halo GAMEPLAY again. Gameplay. 343 delivered. The game plays amazingly.
I’m not saying the progression/levelling system is great- yes it is apparent it needs work… but aren’t we all here to enjoy this gameplay. All the other stuff is just fluff. You don’t need to look cool to be able to play the game and have fun.
Come on guys.
Hahaha man go back to your Ouija Board in your basement
they did not deliver, infinite is nothing more than halo 5 with a lower skill gap
That is a perfect example of the problem with people sometimes they read what they want to read. I think your post was great and I completely agree. The fact that the game has such solid gameplay and it JUST released , i can live with an in progress cosmetic system. They have done so much and they have taken this Halo game seriously and people will still complain. And as far as calling a company “predatory” when the game is free and there is no pay to win , is quite a stretch. Either way, great post and you brought up good points! So far 343 has proved that taking action on fan feedback even if it’s small steps at a time is better than a company just saying they listen but not fix anything. Like you said, give credit where it is due and be happy we actually have a solid Halo game again.
I’m not entirely awake enough to articulate complete thoughts, but I will say this as I’ve seen it so much, and it’s just so… audacious.
Stop speaking for “We OG Fans” like we’re some Monolith Council in full agreement. I’m not crazy about the prices, but I can accept the economic need of a Battle Pass to support a free game. And yes, I’ve been a Halo Fan since the very beginning; that means nothing for me nor anyone in regards to this.
Yes I’m a CE and I’ve interned as a developer in a game studio and develop compilers now.
If you read my comment it’s clearly in response to people saying they heard the feedback since the flight and therefore the issue should already be fixed. They are basing that off 0 software development experience. Just the QA and testing of that feature alone will take a while, let alone design iteration - will also take a while to land on the right xp #s and design the new progression pathway and figuring out how it fits into the monetizing picture in a way that still makes sense. Then they also have to turn it on at a reasonable time (like maybe the start of season 2). Enabling it now that it’s live is a while new problem now since they essentially have to be backwards compatible with the current system (unless they release with the new season, which makes sense)
Honestly the Battlepass isn’t grindy at all anymore after yesterday’s updates. I literally gained 3 levels in an hour (actually it was only 40 minutes) without even focusing on the challenges.
BTW do you have actually proof or data that suggests this or did you just pull it out of your butt?
Is there any f2p game that doesnt have a store front in one form or the other? Honestly there is nothing wrong with the multiplayer having a store front.
Absolutely this! I’m not against paying money for some awesome skins, but I’ve always liked being able to “earn” other, also awesome cosmetic elements. The H3 Katana being a great example… sure, some people thought it was ridiculous, but you couldn’t buy it… you had to earn it through gameplay. I’m not that great of a player, and there are certainly armour elements that I wasn’t able to earn in previous Halo titles purely because of my lack of skill… and I’m ok with that.
To keep this reply on topic, I’m disappointed in 343i/Microsoft for going the FTP/Battlepass/Storefront route, but I accept that that’s just how the game development climate is right now. COD/Destiny/Fortnite/etc all have that structure, to varying degrees of success. I don’t like it, and I definitely feel that the implementation in HI is a poor example of the system, but I’m relieved that they are willing to make changes for the better. They don’t get a pass, and regardless of how much control they actually had over those decisions, I’m still very disappointed, but I’ll take the win where I can.
At the end of the day, I feel the gameplay is solid, and enjoyable. While I’m sad that I’ll probably never rock the exact “look” I want for my SPARTAN, and my FOMO meter will probably be redlined for years to come, this is a game that I enjoy playing, and am looking forward to playing for a long time.
Here’s my problem with this take.
Yes, they are trying. But they’re trying is actually reacting to foreseeable backlash. It’s that newish but all to familiar move devs are using these days where they mess up at first and then drip feed us the content/changes we ask for (which should’ve been part of the final product in the first place" and then say “Look how good we’re listening to you guys!”
No.
You’re not listening. You’re trying to save your product from premature failure. Trying to turn the negative press/feedback into a positive frame.
I mean, sure. I prefer a dev that actually does something with feedback over a dev that stubbornly refuses to make changes. But my point is they could’ve known this would be the reaction to their design decisions. Not just 343i. But also MS. They shouldn’t be in this position in the first place.
It was a very positive change to reward people to play daily. I 100% can stand behind this system as a matter of leveling the battle pass. It still allows us to get atleast a level daily without too much effort and even more if we want to by playing more or using the boosts earned in the battle pass which is cheap on it’s own.
The only thing I’m waiting for is an overall leveling system like a profile level seperate from rank or battle pass.
If they add that I’ll be 100% statisfied;
