youre telling everyone to be happy about price gouging, to be happy that the game is exactly like halo 5 minus a thruster. I was lied to.
“the most classic halo since halo 3” yeah right dude. Half the game, easy shooting, bad map design. As a whole this game stinks of people who hated halo and never played it.
he means youre a parrot with no opinion other than what people say on reddit. From what i see, i doubt youre even a real player but are a forum shill for 343. There are a lot of them
It means your only reason for being here is to shame and ridicule those that dare oppose your unfounded assertions, as indicated by your willingness to claim I’d do something that I just said I wouldn’t all for the sake of saving or gaining face. This isn’t about Halo for you, it’s about being popular.
That was meant as a joke but it didn’t quite make it’s mark. Bad joke. But not surprised you brought it back up to further shame me. Snake.

I brought up your own words and replied to them… and it makes me a snake… Man who isn’t a snake to you?

I don’t know if you noticed this, but my opinion isn’t actually very popular on the forum right now. Seems to be that most people just want to crap on 343 for no reason.

Because 343 made a 100% positive change and you dismissed it because you openly admitted that you consider them to be snakes whose monetization scheme is worse than exploiting people with gambling addictions. I think you’re biased and disingenuous.
Today I leveled up 5 tiers in the Battle Pass in just six matches, thanks to the new system AND popping an XP boost at the beginning of my play session. I managed to complete a fair amount of weekly challenges while the boost was still on – the first ones tend to be easier, probably I won’t have the same luck tomorrow.

Yup I’m looking forward to popping the free boost that I got from the free event. My current challenges are “Get assists, do quick play, win a match, play oddball.” Seems like a good change to me despite all the wailing going on in the forums.
Oh, boy, I’m still burned out on those challenges like “play oddball”. Whenever I get one of those, it’s guaranteed that I won’t see any hint of oddball for hours on end
Disingenuity. Intentionally disregarding my reasoning to further slander and shame.
You can think I’m biased and disingenuous all you want, but you’d be ignoring a lot of what I said to come to that conclusion. The irony is you’re lying to yourself, and that’s the saddest part.
my real issue currently is that things that should be in the game already(playlists) aren’t yet and could possibly just be LTE modes.I could honestly care less about Xp because if I’m playing a mode i love the xp will just be extra.

Did I miss a post where you praised something 343 did? All I’ve seen if you call them snakes and said their monetization scheme is more harmful than actual gambling exploitation (that’s why I call you disingenuous because I refuse to believe anyone would come to that conclusion logically). Then you got embarrassed that I saw you delete an insult that you aimed at me, so you called me a snake.
Either way, you’re muted.
I’m okay with that. I’m not expecting good discourse from a guy that said to me: “343 isn’t going to -Yoink- you man, she’s not into you.”
Alright, more than Bungie? Bungie has a weekly TWAB for Destiny and a lot more feedback. Not sure what else you want from them. (And tbh not all of Destiny stuff is that bad right now.)
343 also has had 3 chances in getting the multiplayer right, I would say this is more disaster then Halo 4’s mp. 343 knew what it was doing, and knew it would be bad. Let’s face that fact. 343 has lied to us about this multiplayer.
As long as they understand that this is a band-aid fix and nothing more. The challenge system is still suboptimal, and performance/victories should always be rewarded. We also need a genuine ranking system outside of the battle pass, and we need to be able to unlock store items without spending real money.
If we can’t appreciate the good changes they make, why should they make them? If all we do is -Yoink!- about what’s broken, we don’t deserve the good things. We need to be constructive, so props to 343 for listening to us, acknowledging that the current system is flawed, and responding by significantly increasing the per-match XP payout.
They have a long way to go, but this is certainly a start.
As long as they understand that this is a band-aid fix and nothing more.
I’m inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt. This is the second week in a row that they gave a bump to progression, this one seems much more substantive than last week, and they specifically mention that they’re making more changes to the challenge system.

I’d be both surprised and actually shocked/miffed if they didn’t make this change. The biggest problem with the challenge system, imo, is that it doesn’t encourage players to play objectives and win matches. In many cases, it actively discourages players from playing optimally (why should I worry about Sentinel Beam kills in a CTF match?).
If we can’t appreciate the good changes they make, why should they make them?
This is at the heart of a lot of the comments I’ve made today. This seems like a quick fix that was implemented prior to them making a big overhaul that would undoubtedly take weeks of design/prototype/implementation/testing. Now if they don’t make bigger changes, I’ll be a bit annoyed. But I’m cool with the current fix while waiting.
I think a fair compromise could look something like this:
Allow certain cosmetics to be bought in store only. Make them exclusive and make them look really cool so people feel like their money is well spent. 343 makes money, since those with the disposable income to pay for this stuff will most certainly buy it. Rocket League does this really well, and I myself have spent $10 for a cool skin in that game every now and then.
Make separate cosmetics that are also super cool, that can be achieved through in game performance in an XP system that is reflective of skill / what you do in game in relation to playing the objective. These CANNOT be bought in store. Every in-game action should add up in this system, from flag cap to running riot, much like how Battlefield does it. The cosmetics here reward merit, not wallet.
Layer the existing challenge system on top of this the way the MCC did it, in a way that makes completing challenges a secondary priority for players. You can level it up quicker by buying boosts to get cosmetics, but players are primarily incentivized to play their best / play the objective based on the skill-based XP system suggested in point #2 above.
Basically, these are three ways of obtaining cool cosmetics / accolades / rewards. And…two out of three of them would make 343 money, while a F2P merit-based progression system at the core of this keeps people focused on playing the objective rather than completing challenges. It would also make all your “Pancake” / “Quigley” / Spree feats add up to something you can show off.
Either way, whatever skill-based progression system they come up with for F2P should be reflected on your nameplate in game, so people can see just how hard you’re playing the game and where your skill is at. I’ve personally never liked the “time vs. money” angle on games since games are primarily about achievement, and I think the system suggested above helps solve this.
All that to say, in this system:
every action you make goes toward something that cannot be achieved through money . . .
. . . and you can spend money to get a completely different thing that cannot be obtained by time.
Has anyone complaining that “they’ve known since the flights about the customization/progression issues” actually ever written a piece of software in their life? Ever? No?
How can you say this on the same day that they put Halo Reach armour in the store which costs the same amount as the battlepass which was advertised as “Heroes of Reach”. In a few days Emile’s shoulder knife is going up too, as well as a huge range of other Reach armour which requires you to buy the battlepass for the Mark V core as well as the armour from the shop. Totalling you at least $20 in credits for a simple pair of shoulders or a knife. This is not the time to be giving them praise.
If it were just Halo Infinite I would be right there with you. Except we dealt with this already…with Halo MCC. Remember how terrible that was? Took them 4 years to fix what they knew was broke when it was released. Only to sit and do the exact same thing for Halo Infinite, and then act like they are working with us.
Honestly, I would have preferred paying $60 for the whole game (campaign and multiplayer), and avoided all this F2P garbage they released 3 weeks ahead of release date. What we were promised is not what we were given, and players have a right to be upset about it.
Personally, I love Halo. Always have, and just like MCC, this version of Infinite is extremely unrewarding. Honestly I’ve played for two weeks and am about to turn to any other game because it is just monotonous grinding (which they promised it wouldn’t be). The store is an absolute joke with their prices, and the hard lock of items to armor cores completely devalues any armor you might be tempted to buy.
As many have said, previously we’ve paid for the game and gotten all the armors available to us just by playing the game (as they promised it would be in Infinite - which we have yet to see happen). The Yoroi event was a huge disappointment. The weekly challenge rewards are hidden behind yet another challenge (last week’s was near impossible for most to complete). I am honestly surprised anyone gave this the green light to go live.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions on this, I just don’t think they should be let off with the laundry list of crap they have to fix (that they should have learned from with Halo MCC).
I agree with all of this and I’d go one step further: Remove purchasing levels of the battle pass. If that means they want to beef up the price of purchasing a battle pass by an extra $5, I wouldn’t mind paying that. Right now I see people running around with level 100 cosmetics and I can’t tell if they’re so insanely dedicated that they managed to complete all their challenges AND played a thousand or so matches in the last few weeks, or if they just opened their wallet.
I’d prefer that also – I very much want it to be clear who has worked for things in game and who hasn’t. I personally am not impressed by anyone wearing armor that came from their ability to enter credit card info. However, I AM impressed by / would love to work toward unique sets of armor that are awarded once someone reaches incredible mile markers in alignment with the objective, that are actually reflective of good performance in game.
Realistically, I could see 343 being hesitant to remove the challenge based progression system in order to honor existing purchases to boost it (and to make money). But my hope is the challenge system will become secondary, and a new system will be front and center that will have unique sets of rewards that cannot be bought / obtained via wallet.
