343 is treating you like a toddler. Now eat your mush

Tried that a few times in the tech preview… only kills you 50% of the time. but yeah it is annoying.

I’m so against hitmarkers, it’s not funny. Like sprint, hitmarkers are left over from the chasing-the-trends days. The difference is, 343i put a lot of work into ensuring sprint no longer completely took away from what Halo was. They never did the same with hitmarkers. If hitmarkers had to be left in Halo (which they shouldn’t be) they should be smaller, more transparent, with no audio beeps, and most importantly, they shouldn’t be used as an excuse to take away vibrant blood splatter, wild enemy animations, the wailing or groans of enemies and flaring electric-like energy shields! Halo had a brilliantly dynamic and diegetic manner of displaying when enemies took damage. The very first Halo title from 2001 still does this better than most other FPSs today. But with obnoxious hitmarkers distracting the player, less work is put into the artistry of these other areas. It’s a real shame. Fingers crossed there’s an option to disable them. We’d like to see the damage we’re dealing ourselves rather than a big X in the middle of our HUD.

Yeah this kind of trend started back in H4 and has just kind of snowballed to a point that the game now tells you the location of enemy players so map awareness is no longer necessary…
Not a fan, but here we are

I believe making the game as inclusive as possible to bring in a larger audience is always positive. Absolutely certain things should be enabled or disabled in that area though, with the feedback from fans being implemented as quick as possible. Competitive should go back to strict high risk high reward gameplay with the chance of killing teammates or them bumping in your way. Hitmarks have been a staple for a while now by clarifying if a kill is fair or not due to something like latency or lag for example. Times have changed since we were young and accessibility has brought in so many players that never had a chance to play these games.

The answer is simple.
343 have moved to a new business model.
Give the game for free = more people download it
Make the game easier = pick up and blast with good results
= casuals more likely to stick around and spend money on micro transactions to enhance their character etc

Eh, I’ll have my share of complaints, but after all the years, I still enjoy the game. Pros will outweight the cons for me. If I don’t like it, then I can play something else… but, I like it! So, I’ll keep playing!

don’t forget that to progress in the battle pass you can only do it through challenges, and if you do too many in one day you will be penalized.

Many of the things you are complaining about are also accessibility needs/wants.

I will take allowing more people to play and enjoy Halo over some people being upset that it’s not 2001 again.
