Well. That’s because Halo’s core mechanics are competitive. But if you actually talk to comp players…
They are not getting what they want. Comp players are not boogeymen you can’t talk to.
You’re talking to one right now.
I’m not happy with the following.
1: Repetetive, lacking in aesthetic or gameplay variety maps, based around three lanes (we want way more options than that.)
2: The AR still being busted. (I want it to be good. I have a fix. A GOOD fix. One that keeps it about where it is but makes it more rewarding to use at close range.)
3: Them still never understanding what makes a good comp map. (Argyle and Detachment are sad examples of this. I like Argyle but 2 snipers is awful and there should be a federal restriction on AR starts on that map - it’s too big for it.)
4: The radar was excellent during the first flight and that’s what we want. Appear-when-sprint/shoot. It was a great idea, it wasn’t free information, and it made doing any of those things a tactical decision while still keeping the game fast paced.
There are all major things that need addressing - and more than anything else, comp needs maps that play well and aren’t just the same three lane crap.
Constant Disconnect Mid Game Lossing XP and De-Ranking PLEASE FIX ASAP***
How is that i pay for a game in 2022 for 60$ and the game cant even play … Constant disconnect during match making and de-ranking , because there is not a simple RE-connect button to allow me to continue the game. ALso when someone disconnects you have to play out the game or you lose points… It should be automatic surrender and no points should be taken for the players remaining.
Rambo, they know about those maps, but they probably aren’t coming back - especially when we can make nearly perfect replicas in Forge. That guardian and lockout remake are good examples of this - need extra polishing but they do great jobs.
I’d very much rather they make new maps with pro input, because we NEED good map flow… and BTB deserves good maps too.
It’s always fun to read these and watch the likes/upvotes depending where it’s posted.
Psst, I’ll let you in on a secret…competitive community…hates argyle and detachment. Those maps, while nice to have something new, still suck, no one wants to see them featured. No one wants to play with 2 sniper, 2 shotty, 2 fusion coil, 2 grapple, os, 4 commando (its better online now - guess what - it was already the best weapon on lan before the update). Pretty sure it also has 2 pp, 2 mangler and 2 needler too. It’s meta weapon heaven, almost zero reason to use the br. Most of those are on short timers, all weapons are very great in infinite - so other weapons are always available for pick up and with there being soooo many of them - it’s hard to use map control to deny using those weapons/equipment. Multiple pros already dreading the certain ctf on argyle in their standard best of 5 series.
Aquarius is the only decent ctf map in the game right now. Recharge and live fire are the other decent maps, but even then, multiple pros questioning whether they are actually good for infinite’s gameplay or if it’s just the best we got so far.
You mentioned launch site and behemoth - both those maps are pure pain to play in this game. Launch site rarely gets to 50 kills for slayer. Behemoth is a win for whoever has the better ping 90% of the time. That said - hopefully we get some good BTB maps…high power is one of the worst in the whole series.
I agree the amount of joy I have had in Halo Reach with maps for Heavies and just all around warfare is the moments I remember the most, and that’s the type of experience you want players to have so they keep returning back for more. Countless times I have said again and again, listen to your feedback from the community, slowly I feel like there is some hope. But you can only back step so many times after releasing something very good.
For the love of the community, please add forge map submissions to be reviewed and added into matchmaking map pools
Again, just another thing they are sleeping on, the community wants to provide maps for you, it’s ** F r e e ** so why not use that as well to appeal to the wider community. One thing I will add is please add back Map Voting/Skipping, I do not want to play Breaker 85% of the time!
The big difference between two snipers on the pit and two snipers on argyle is that the two snipers on argyle can shoot across the entire map from each other and still cover the side areas as well. The pit could only cover their half of the map as well as the back mid to the other sniper tower. On Argyle you can basically cover the entire map, but on the pit you can only cover about 70%.
The difference is really come down to map design and layout and what kind of weapons will work on those layouts. It’s about how strong each weapon is on the map and how much the map flow and weapon placement encourages fights and control the map. I believe in a previous thread “What is your least favorite map” I had a conversation with someone in that thread about why Highpower isn’t that bad if a map. It just has bad weapon and vehicle placements and choices. I’ll go looking for it and edit it in.
It was here. The least favorite map thread was a different conversation apparently. This thread was really short so I thought it was part of the map conversation.
I mean the maps aren’t going to play like they used to since the weapon sandbox is different, movement is different and all the rest, so of course people won’t like them
That too. Folks don’t seem to understand the innate differences. Clamber? Clamber changes Lockout completely. You’d have to untoggle clamber and slide for it to feel “right”.
But that’s silly.
I for one am turbo excited for The Pit coming soon.
Clamber, slide, and sprint are all 100% worth dropping if it means we can have maps that are of comparable quality to lockout, guardian, midship, ivory tower, etc.
