343 is Lost in a Fog

We can moan & groan all day & night. Not much will change. It is what it is… Halo 343 is a flop despite the record sales. When you assume 343 has listened to the Halo community, they always do the opposite which is two steps backward. They never seem to get it. For example, the recent video on YouTube of 343 talking about how they understand how the Halo Community works. They talk a big game, but when it comes to doing it, they are lost in a fog.

Bungie spoiled us when it came to community involvement. Bungie understood how it worked. 343 tends to push the map packs, toys & other means to make a quick buck. Well, that infuriates the community… 343. You won’t address the major problems or get involved with the community, but yet, you want us to shell out more money for an inferior game. Don’t you read & get involved in the forums, the gaming communities, the clans, the pro-circuit? They represent a large portion of your customer base that is loyal to Halo & cares about it’s future.

As a diehard Halo fan since the beginning, like many others, we have a right to voice our opinion. We aren’t bashing the Halo series. We are upset that Microsoft hired 343, who has by the way, never has had a successful game. Microsoft gambled with 343 rather than Bungie which has proven to be a bad business decision for the long term. It is like acquiring McDonald’s & replacing it’s food with an inferior type to try something different, but yet calling it McDonald’s when in fact it is not. Of course, there would be an public outrage.

We, meaning the gamers enjoyed Halo because it was different, competitive, fun unlike the other games on the market. Why in the world would you add COD features to Halo? It ruined the game.

For your information 343, Halo will ALWAYS be a Bungie game. It will NEVER be a 343 game no matter what you do to it. 343, you made your money on us “beta testers” for Halo 343, but you won’t come close to it for Halo 5. Why, because it is NOT a Bungie game. One of the things that made Halo great was the fact that Bungie are masters of the community. They listened & applied what they learned from the community to make the game better. They sincerely cared which is why they became very successful. The only thing that seems to echo from 343 is to buy Map Packs, so that they can fund the next Halo disaster.

It’s choice… not chance that determines our “Destiny”. Bungie will soon be on top again while 343 will be pushing Map Packs to keep the Halo fans from leaving by the droves.

For all of the 343 suck ups that will slam me for this post… the declining population sums it up in a nutshell.

Ok, to start things off:

  1. Microsoft didn’t ‘gamble’ with 343. Bungie’s 10 year contract with Microsoft ran out so they moved on to work on other projects. 343 are a internal company made by Microsoft to work exclusively on Halo. True, they have never shipped a full game together before, but that’s why Halo 4 is important; Because it’s their first real game and from this, they can learn their mistakes.

  2. There is NO word from you in this very post suggesting how to fix Halo 4. This is basically another pointless rant about why you don’t like Halo 4. Congratulations! You just made a totally original thread here.

  3. Judging by what you’re saying about Bungie, you think they are the best ever! But you forget the early days of Halo 2, a horrible, bug filled experience. Halo 3’s flawed ranking system which promoted boosting, defeating the purpose of a SKILL based system in the first place. But most of all… Remember Reach?

  4. I’m not surprised that the argument of population decline is there. Just an FYI: Nearly every game is on the decline right now. Compare the numbers from 2007 to right now. There are not nearly as many players playing any game as there were back in 2007. IMO, If Halo wants a high population: Release it for PC.

  5. Destiny isn’t going to be anything like Halo. In fact, it’s geared up to be a late 2013/early 2014 release. So it won’t even be a direct competitor to Halo 4.

All I see his is a wall of text saying: “I don’t like 343, I love Bungie. Why can’t we Have Bungie back?”

To answer that question; Because they are done with Halo. We have 343 now. Deal. With. It.

^ Well said.

Personally, I love 343. They had the courage to actually continue a story that was unfinished, while Bungie, your so called halo heroes, were going to let the Master Chief and Cortana float out in space. Besides, Halo 4 was and is (IMO) a great game. Sure, its flawed but what game isnt. This is 343s first game and they are the Masters of Halo now. Get over it.

I like Halo toys…

It’s not that Halo 4 is a bad game.
It’s just that it’s not as good as Halo 3.
But it’s better than all the other Halo games.
Think about that…

It’s not as good as Halo 2 either

Glad to see reason hasn’t completely fled this "fan"base.

Now you’re just being a fanboy. As a huge CE fan, and Halo fan in general, I can say that CE isn’t a better game. For it’s time, sure. But 11 years into the future, Halo 4 is a much bigger, complex and better game. CE will always give that different, AMAZING, feel because it’s the first. It’s WAS a completely different experience, but Jesus Christ… You’re being extremely subjective.

Thank you… I’ve started to feel alone thinking that only I liked Halo 4. It’s getting really depressing constantly reading negative stuff about H4.

CE had no aim assist, very little magnetism, and the weapons were all unique from one another.

In many ways it was actually better, though in some ways it was worse.

Halo 4 has more content and better graphics, but that doesn’t automatically make it the better game.

A Fanboy? No, CE is definitely better than Halo 4.

Just to make it clear, CE had significant aim assist and it would be even stronger when you had low shields to give you a chance to fight, not many know that. But it had a much smaller hitbox, so if your crosshair was just half on your opponent you’d be much more likely to miss half of your shots, thus rewarding the better player almost at all times.

An example of a large hitbox is the Halo 4 Beam Rifle when no scoping. That thing doesn’t even have to be close to the head and you’re still likely to get an headshot. In Halo 1 would your aim have to be perfectly on to do that.

That’s not exactly a fair comparison. Halo CE, speaking from a purely multiplayer perspective, is the best Halo game. In addendum, that was almost entirely true because it was created and balanced around LAN play, not online play.

Speaking of the single player campaign though, none of the Halo campaigns have been much different from one another. It’s all just been about how well designed the levels were, and continuing the story. Halo 4 is on par with the original in that respect - Halo CE had some abysmal levels like the Library, while H4 has some like the forced-vehicle levels. CE’s story was great because it was the first installment, so everything was just being introduced. H4’s is great because of the character development. Overall, CE had much better level design, H4 had a better story.

H2 and H3 were abysmal on both of those points - terrible single player level design and uninteresting story progression. ODST and Reach were both passable, but nothing out of the ordinary. I’d honestly say aside from CE, Reach had the best level design, it just messed with the story. Plus it didn’t have those -Yoinking!- beam rifle jackals.

It’s actually a little depressing to see how little advancement has been made in the single player design and experience since the original Halo. Playing the anniversary edition made me realize that. The graphics are on par with Reach, and everything else is the same, so it lets you directly compare then to now without as much nostalgia factor/rose tinted glasses. It’s like going back and playing Half-Life 2 and then lamenting on how far gaming has fallen in the years following.

Reported because offensive. On to your post.

  1. 343 does listen. There is plenty of proof. We got a boltshot nerf. We get exploited areas fixed. for “competitives” we have team throw down. We’ve gotten glitches and bugs pointed out by the community fixed. we are getting a 1-50. I could go on. Purely denying that 343 never listens only shows your own ignorance.

  2. Bungie sold toys books and clothes. Bungie was no where near as perfect. glaring issues in halo 2 and 3 got fixed and some didn’t. Also stop speaking for the community even if everyone on the forums voted to make you master spokesperson there is still a large pert of the community that isn’t vocal that doesn’t come here. Also they do reply. or i guess you happen to miss when next to the forum 343 is labeled on it? The competitive fanbase is not the bigger part. its the smaller but more vocal. As stated before your getting your own map pack with the “small arena style” 1-50 and your own playlist. Your hardly being ignored.

  3. Bungie wanted to move on from halo. Fact. But keep thinking corperate greed. Your still wrong. 343 has members from bungie and members from other talented sucessfull games. Bungie also had to start somewhere. But they already had games under their belt when halo came to. And even then they never got everything perfect. Lastly using mcdonalds as an example? their food is poor premade crap. If your going to use a resturant as an example maybe pick one that isn’t totally bad for you.

  4. halo is a 343 game now. no discussion needed. As for your population argument it only shows how week this post is. Its been argued to death and proven very wrong. The numbers you see are how many players on at any given time. Not number of UU’s a day. More to the point we have far more sucessful game franchises out now. halo 4 has bigger and more giants to compete with then back in the day. Lastly its honestly just halo itself. Its been around for a decade and most people just don’t get excited now adays. We can never achieve the old days so i don’t know why people keep hiding in nostalgia.

Its trash threads like this that truly make me hurt on the inside. Halo has always had this kind of hate and bashing but not to this extent. Halo 4 isn’t bad. its a decent halo game. The only glaring issues i can see are lack of theatre for campaign and a few lacking custom game options. You are blowing it up to something thats simply not true. halo 1-3 was not perfect. And they only achieved that spot after TU’s over time. halo 2 the “best” halo to date had massive aim assist to the left side and constant people abusing the button combo glitches.

343 is here. They listen. And those of us fans who actually keep an open mind will be here when halo 6 ends. If you want to spend your time flaming and trolling the forums go right ahead. Its sad that people just can’t enjoy the game. Especially when 343 is trying to accomidate everyone and people still complain. ungreatful punks.
