Bro we want you to have work/life balance but you brought this upon yourselves by releasing a game that is unfinished. You should have just delayed it until it was in a good, maintainable spot.
Releasing 2 maps after what will have been 6 months of this game being out is not enough. Before Halo was a live service, map packs were 3 maps and came out a few months after release not half a year. Not really sure how the live service model is serving us content better. Especially when you consider the fact that Arena players hardly play BTB and BTB players hardly play Arena. So we’re essentially getting 1 map. At least forge is around the corner… jfc.
Hard to get excited for territories and KotH gametypes when they should have been in the game at launch.
No mention of desync or the update that made it worse somehow. No mention of increased PC crashes. No mention of poor optimization. Public facing issue board coming soon though. How did you not just use learnings from MCC and carry them over to Infinite. It’s mind boggling that the same stuff that was added to MCC wasn’t just included in Infinite from the design beginnings.
Man, I really feel bad for you guys. I’m sure it’s impossible to be in between this community and the greed of Microsoft but someone at 343i leadership needs to step up and push back on the corporate greed. At least until you can catch your breath. This game might be good in a year, but you’ve squandered the biggest hype train that Halo has had since the H3 days.
In fairness we don’t know how much work they’re putting in to sort out all the bugs and quality of life stuff. It probably is taking them a lot more time than in Halo 5 when they were churning out pizza skins and what not. I don’t fully understand how it can be possible for Co-Op to be delayed again.
But yeah it’s the worst of both worlds. You have less content than Halo 5 did and they’re still overworked trying to fix the games engine.
I am more concerned that sorting out Co-Op might be pushing back Campaign DLC. Surely that’s the Campaign team that would be working on that side of things?
Thankfully we should be getting some story content with the multiplayer trailers. I am not expecting too much lore wise. Probably just Agryna assembling the team. But it would be nice to know: are we still Battlestar Galactica or is this Covenant 2.0 war with the Banished. If the Banished are cutting up a disabled Guardian that would be telling quite a lot.
I am just glad they’ve put something new out and given us some insight into what’s next.
To be honest, I don’t really care. Co-op should have been ready at launch. King of the hill should have been in at launch. It should not have taken nearly as long as it did to fix BTB which broke for whatever reason. They still have no clue what’s causing desync or how to fix it. Still no acknowledgements of increased crashes on PC after their last update. No crossplay toggle?
They want me to care that cutting corners with cheap contract workers resulted in them having to deal with dog doody code but in the same breath want me to buy their next battle pass and lone wolf cosmetics…
Not exactly. Work life balance is important. I’m saying their leadership is responsible for the crunch, not the community. This game should have been delayed again. Since it wasn’t, 343i can’t blame the community for crunch when they set the release date themselves. Blaming a toxic community is not a good look.
Of course you don’t, because you have no idea what you’re talking about.
So delay the entire game for another full year for a non-critical path feature? I mean, sure… I guess if you were the one calling the shots then we would wait until 2022 to play Infinite so we could have co-op. But it wasn’t up to you. It was up to Microsoft.
They had people working through Christmas trying to fix it. What would you have done differently to have expedited the fix?
Oh yeah? Gimme the proof where they say “We have no clue what’s causing desync and we have no idea how to fix it.”
Are you saying that they shouldn’t be able to use the work/life balance excuse in response to the update revealing that co-op was delayed?
Well you should yell at Microsoft then. They’re the ones that set deadlines.
You’ve never worked a day in QA in your entire life, have you? If you did, you’d know that everything could work absolutely perfect internally and then the moment you launch to prod a bug reveals itself. You could test a live service game for a million years in an internal environment and you’d still discover issues the moment you launch.
HAHAHAHAHA. You have to know where the problem is for telemetry to work. They could have identified that it’s a race condition, which could be impossible to isolate with repro steps. This has nothing to do with incompetence.
Wait, where did they blame the community? I didn’t get that vibe at all from the update. They thanked the community for its patience while they maintain a healthy work/life balance.
I take it you don’t actually have the receipts I asked for, huh?
You know I’ve read this about a million times on this forum. And I still keep seeing those same people reposting the same topics over and over again. Best of luck in breaking the cycle!
I’m not going to complain cause I have my work/life balance down to a capital T… although they had more time off at Christmas than I did. But Only just!
If you don’t screw up for 5 years and have to essentially put together a game in 12 months, you don’t have to crunch to deliver a good product. It’s called good management:)
Stop defending their bad leadership over and over afain with poor excuses.
edit:
lack of content didn’t pop up because of going largescale
lack of server selection didn’t pop up
desync didnt pop up
the bad UI didnt pop up
the lack of playlists didn’t pop up
the bad progression system didn’t pop up
armor cores didn’t pop up
But yeah, I know… the game was great internally, it just doesn’t work on large scale.
If YOU would know anything about QA, you would know these things scale over time. But for that you need a closed beta at some point… and 343 never had one. At least not a scale where desync was detectable.
And why? Because the game never was in a state to do this. And why that was the case we probably never know for sure. But bad leadership is a pretty good guess if you have some insight in tge industry… or a comparable one.
Territories and King of The Hill should’ve definitely been included in the game launch. A missed opportunity there for sure.
I look forward to the day when Forge is added into the game because community content is such a high driving force behind the recent Halo games. Our community is so creative and incredible at the little details.
We’ll all get there eventually. <3
Can you pass along to your crowd that 152’s are unhappy with the watchdog armor, and while their fixing things to make it like they promoted please, and thx.
Not sure if it is more people lagging on purpose, or the code - someone who actually plays the game is disappointed how the game has devolved over the past 6 months.
Well looks like to me the more people that complain ( including myself ) about this game the less we see fixes. So maybe we are not complaining enough eh?
