343 is holding back content

Im typing this before the “ANVILS LEGACY” update is out just to clear things up.
So, I’m pretty sure we all know who WyvernZu, in case you don’t, she’s a very talented forger.
She played forge on windows 10 a little early and I installed one of her new maps, ad guess what? It has the new REQs on the map already, I’m talking about the new hunter canons and magnums, she’s also placed the prophets bane too. If you want proof, Go to my bookmarks (gamertag: Kyle Stepback) and download my newest bookmarked map. All of this means these weapons were already in the game, they have all the textures, they preform correctly, but how long ago did 343 finish the content? I hate that 343 is pulling a modern-Bungie with Halo 5, I bet that they’ve had infection finished a month after the game’s release.

The test campaign may not be completed.
Or the marketing department old this content because capitalism …

You do realise that when you have a batch of content to release, some content is going to be completed before other?

You also do realise that content is not released as soon as it is done, but given a release date when all the batched content is released?

PS, as far as I’m concerned, the Prophet’s Bane was a release Req item, not an anvil update item. So I don’t see the relevance.

So the PC Forge has the Anvil’s Legacy content pre-installed?

What’s the problem here?

Yes, but the fact is that it IS already in the game, it was released, but it was locked. And I brought up the prophets bane because you currently can’t place it in Forge Mode.

This is new news to who…? Seriously…not trying to be mean, but this ship has already sailed and sunk several times over.

That’s not the problem, the problem is that all of the new REQs were already on the console version. Which means they must’ve added them in a previous update, but kept them locked away from us. Same happened with the Memories of Reach (mightve been an earlier update), all of the Plasma Rifles were in the REQ menu for a few hours. But they ended up coming in a different update

so much ugh… what ever

Yeah, but we thought they were holding stuff back for reasons like balancing, textures, etc. But this proved that they’re just holding content back just to make the span of the monthly updates stretch out, which isn’t right, who knows, they might have had Race finished since Febuary

of course the prohets bane is in the game, you can use it in warzone, they then decided to add req items in forge and in this update they are adding them all so what’s the problem ? the hunter cannon is new and wasn’t in the game before, the Odst pistol is new and wasn’t in the game before, so how is that holding them back if they are brand new ?

Again, whats the problem?

The majority of companies that do things like DLC weapons tend to pre-install them in advance. People datamine games all the time and find locked content.

343 aren’t in a contract with you to make content available to you as soon as its ready, or if its in the game files. They could change their minds and just decide they don’t want to add it to the game, or want to change it.

Alternative theory could be that the weapons are in to stop the whole cross-platform thing breaking.

Just don’t see what the problem is here. They want to bundle and deliver their DLC like this. Destiny and GTA use similar systems; bunch of different DLC projects being worked on, stuff gets moved and and re-prioritised, then when they have an update they’re happy with they release the content.

You’re aware all finished content needs to be tested and then approved, right? -_-

I don’t see the issue here. We already all know that the content has been ready for a while, most likely a couple of weeks now. But the thing is, that doesn’t give 343i the ability to release it early, they have to go through a whole process to get the patch accepted by Microsoft, and then pick a release date ahead of time. In any case, access to REQs is something that’s server-side, not local, which is why the Hog Wild REQ dump did not require downloading any sort of patch.

Plus, many of these REQs have been in the game for a long time now, just not available in Forge. We know that Halo 5 : Forge for PC would have access to them, so it only makes sense that people who got early access to that have access to all of the REQs.

Those items were suppose to be released in Forge in the update and Windows 10 Forge is being released with the update so it will have those items. I don’t get what is confusing about this. It isn’t holding back content. It makes perfect sense.

The first thing I did was download the map and try out the new weapons, and THEY’RE AWESOME!

EDIT: They’re not really holding back content since it was able to be used about 2 days before release, it was already done, just the final touches were needed. Look at Destiny, you could glitch into most of the DLC areas since day one.

I’m going to be the rational optimist here and assume that since forge requires an internet connection, some of if not most of the content can be streamed if not installed on the hardware its loaded too, I don’t believe they hold back that much, each update has to have a fair amount of content, so sometimes finished content from one update (think of it as overflow) gets pushed to the next.

That’s just my two cents. :stuck_out_tongue:

How are the new magnums?

Everything has to be play tested too. I don’t see an issue here. Besides, I think 343 has been more than generous with all the free content they’ve been providing to everyone for nearly a year now

While they do hold back content, this is not really a good example of it

It’s their game. They don’t owe us anything. If they want to hold stuff back for a year that’s their prerogative. It’s a marketing strategy that they developed. It doesn’t matter if we like it or not. If it’s that big of a deal people can play something else. This is a non issue.
