343 is "evolving" Halo for the worst...

Let me start off by saying I would like to see an actual natural progression in Halo’s evolution. From Halo 3 to Halo: Reach and Reach to Halo 4 were both jarring, especially the latter. I’m not sure what made you guys follow Reach’s suit to utilize it as a foundation for evolution and change so to speak, but it’s been one of the worst things you’ve done to make Halo change and “evolve”. As a result of all of this we’ve ended up with a largely forgettable and appalling multiplayer experience, and hemorrhages in the Halo population that lead to a dead and inactive community that have happened since Reach.

There’s a reason why during the classic era of Halo that Halo 2 and Halo 3 were titans in the industry during the year they released and the years following. They changed, but no so much where it was jarring beginning with Reach, and not too little where CoD is popularly known by the Halo fans for virtually not changing at all. The classic Halo experience respected the fundamental elements including the gameplay and mechanics that lead to the series’ multiplayer only getting better and better, whereas now 343’s vision of Halo falls flat.

343, modern FPS gamers—you guys need to realize that none of what’s been done to this new trilogy of Halo is innovative or fresh. Change for the sake of change, change to appease to the modern and casual gamer, change to make Halo modern and twitch-based like CoD and the other shooters of today—none of that is good for the Halo franchise and you will only be digging your own grave as you did when you released Halo 4.

Additionally, I am a person of 2nd chances. With Halo 4, you dropped the ball and with the MCC, you screwed the pooch. I preordered the MCC thinking you learned from your mistakes. I admit, I fell for the hype train. However, Halo has been Xbox’s flagship for over a decade. It seems that you guys are going to be the ones who destroy Halo’s status as its console flagship. I will not fall for Halo 5’s hype train and set myself for total and utter disappointment a 3rd time in a row.

In conclusion, I want to see change that embraces and respects the history of Halo’s classic elements and the amount of change we experienced from Halo: CE to Halo 2 and Halo 2 to Halo 3. 343, you guys need to listen to the Halo classic fans and need to take notes on all the successes of the classic Halo era and why all those successes occurred. If you keep trying to change Halo to appease to today’s unloyal and short-attentive modern and casual gamer, alienate the hundreds of thousands of Halo fans that have been here since the classic era, and try to beat all the other modern FPS’ers by trying to be CoD with a Halo skin on it, Halo will never be as successful as it once was.

TL;DR

Another COD thread. Nothing to see here.

Haha No.

TL;DR: H5 is not H3.

Thank god. Because H3 was awful.

If Halo doesn’t change it will stagnate. This is a time were games are constantly growing and becoming better, if Halo just delivers the same experience over and over again it won’t progress. You also have to consider the developers. They don’t want to make the same game, they want to be able to expand and implement new ideas. Also you talk about the changes in the classic era, but you need to specify what these changes are. What was your perception of change that led to the multiplayer getting better and how did it falter after 3?

I disagree, I think 343 hates casual gamers. For the most part I agree with you but no pve and forcing warzone down our throats and limiting customization…I don’t find it appealing to casuals at all. Even odst on mcc didn’t even have firefight, h4 no firefight. 343 hates casual gamers

LOVE IT

thank you, come again

im glad halo changes and adds new abilities with each title. if i wanted to play the same thing each time id play cod.
Halo evolved linearly this time, not sideways like it did with reach and h4.

this is the first game in a while that actually promotes hardcore gaming through Esport.

343 “hated” pro players with halo 4

I.could.not.agree.with.you.more! But unfortunately we will probably never see a Halo game be as successful as H2/H3. (Halo 3 being the best imo). 343 is attempting the make this game casual and to make it appeal to the younger crowds and other gaming crowds. You don’t fix what’s not broken. Nothing is wrong with the original Halo formula (Cs:go is a good example. Most popular shooter and hasn’t changed one bit) Halo is a unique title that don’t need to change to be successful. 343 is tired of living in the shadow of bungie and wants to leave their own mark even if it hurts the franchise. If haven’t noticed they are slowly getting rid of anything that relates to bungie. From art style, weapons, gameplay, and even characters. It’s the sad truth.

Hahahaaaaa… No

Another one of these…get with the times bro.

What have they gotten rid of that you consider to be 343 burning their ties with Bungie?

It’s sad that we get angry with developers for not wanting to copy and paste a game over and over. Building the same game 3+ times in a row with better graphics is something that many other franchises have succumbed to, and I couldn’t bear it if halo did the same. And besides, what developer wants to recreate the same forumula every year? Kinda seems like wasted potential.

It looks like they’re headed back in that direction, actually. For all the new mechanics they’ve added, like Ground Pound, they’ve still scaled back heavily on the Reachiest aspects. Armor Abilities are gone, we’re back to equal starts, and they’ve found a nerf for sprint that specifically and directly makes it less useful in combat situations.

I have to say the changes while certainly unexpected, are more than welcome for me. it follows the lore of the game incredibly well. it shows that technology is advancing faster and spartan 4’s are being cranked out constantly and it’s just insanity and i love it. It shows that while somethings get stronger other things get weaker, it shows that times change and sometimes you just have to adapt. expecting a subtle climb to me just seems unrealistic with the unused potential sitting in the pockets of the creators. i understand that people were upset by halo 4 people don’t like change but i don’t see any reason for that to ruin a franchise that we’ve all loved for a very long time.
but that’s just me.
