There are so many different things that are wrong with Halo 4 match making… where to begin.
Bolt shot is the dumbest thing they have introduced. A player should not have a one shot kill weapon as there secondary. Halo 3 had the mauler, which as pretty powerful, but you could not kill with one shot and you had tp pick it up on the map; it had a great balance. The mauler could only beat a sword and shotgun if the other player was very bad. The bolt shot beats the shotgun half the time when you go up against it… wtf? That should not Happen. If you are not limited, the bolt shot will beat the sword most the time… wtf? The bolt shot makes people camp around corners so much more, it rewards them to do so. Halo has never been a game to camp like that, and if you think it was that type of game, then you are a scrub and probably played against scrubs in the past Halo games.
Active camo. There was a reason why it was a power up and only useful for 30 seconds, 4 times a game. Reach brought in A.C as an AA, which was the dumbest part of the game. It encourages people to camp and hide around corners because they would other wise get mucked in a 1v1 dmr or br fight. This is one of the main reasons why I stopped playing reach very early on. It ruins so many parts of great gameplay that made halo what it is. But for some reason 343 thought it was a good idea to bring it back. There is nothing worse than sniper camped in the rocks behind the Valhalla base with the rock wall behind it with cloak. It is impossible to see, even with P.V unless you are close. Camo ruins a large part of the flow of the game.
The DMR. I hated the DMR in reach, and now they made it even worse now. It is a mini sniper that can kill at any range. BTB has turned into a bunch of pot shots. In halo 3, it took a lot of skill to be able to lead your shots properly and kill from a distance. This allowed a lot more map movement; the dmr has pretty much eliminated this. Which ever team has the best map position will win…
Wait, I lied in that last line. Map position and control means nothing when power weapons come to you. There is absolutely no real reason to push out of defensive postions like the bases on VAHALLA, because half of your team can possibly have a sniper rifle within minutes (I have played a team where 5+ players on a team had some sort of sniper rifle). There are no real reasons to leave, sure the occasional random power weapon will spawn on the map, but there is no battle for it because it can spawn anywhere; meaning, which ever team is closer to said random weapon spawn takes it. Halo has been about controlling the power weapons and their spawn timings on the map. This is no more, other than the initial spawns. In levels like Vahalla, when you do push up the map to get control over the middle, the enemy spwans behind you. So why would you ever even want to hold the middle. Im guesing that they changed this because the bad kids would complain that they could never get the weapons on the map. Which leads me to there my next point.
The bad kids who couldn’t get or control the power weapons got deranked, and played -Yoink- kids. They kept deranking until they got matched up with people of their skill level, and the good kids moved up. This got broken in reach with the stupid exp system. Halo used to take skill to get good ranks. Now it is just who ever plays the most. Winning games means nothing in Halo 4 because losing doesn’t derank you. You used to have to WIN games in order to go up levels and quitting penalized you by taking away exp point. This was a big thing that set Halo and COD apart. Now they operate the say way… except COD has way more servers and playlists.
Halo has -Yoink- playlists. Regicide is the dumbest playlist that has ever been on a halo game. Why can we fracking have a simple ffa slayer game type without all of the added bs. FFA throwback is -Yoink-. Infinity slayer is -Yoink- because of ordinance. Why is ctf and oddball in one playlist? Why was snipers only in for one week?(although, snipers was -Yoink- due to radar and flinching; snipers was my favorite in halo 3 and 2)
Flinching is absolutely stupid; why was descoping taken out. When in sniper battles, the first person to hit a body shot wins. Flinching rewards bad shooting. In past halo, you still had a chance (could no scope after you are descoped very quickly, and if you would good, you would have had the reticule all ready on the players head when this happened, or you could zoom back in quick)
Why remove the red x that appears when you die? That is just stupid.
Ordinance… cod killstreaks ring a bell? Heres a good idea, lets reward some bad kids with an incineration cannon because they got a bunch of distraction medals with the occasional comeback kill with a weapon that gives you a generic kill medal. So many stupid medals to reward bad players. You shouldnt be able to randomly get an incarnation cannon or binary rifle… you should have to work as team to pick up these weapons on the map when they spawn. AKA map control.
Why is the binary rifle in the fracking game. Lets introduce a long range rifle… you mean like a sniper rifle?.. yes, but one with less skill for the bad kids. This rifle will allow you to hit the player in the foot and kill them in shot… that’s fracking brilliant.
Why do weapons despawn so quickly when you die? The dam bodies stay longer than weapons do. Change this. 12 seconds is way to quick
Make more maps. Smaller maps. Not big pieces of turd like complex. Look at how many people play on haven. Its because it is the only semi small, decent playable map. Every other halo game has had smaller, area style maps. Why cant halo 4? Why cant we player forge maps in mm?
Please make classic playlists, where there are no AA’s or sprint. Please make weapons spawn on maps. It is so god dam annoying when you run out br or dmr ammo in the game. It forces you to do a suicide charge to go find new ammo which is not what I want to do when I have a 20 kill streak going.
Why doesn’t the announcer guy say PERFECTION at the end of the game when you get one. WTF. It takes away from it.
Reach was down right terrible. I do not understand why 343 decided to build their game after this. They should have realized that the other halo games were amazing. Don’t fix it if it aint broken. COD has had the same game recipe for years, and guess what, it is doing great. People know what to expect when they buy a COD game, and that is why they buy it year after year. Why cant halo? Why was there no Beta? Had there been a beta, I wouldn’t of bought halo 4 untill they fixed a lot of -Yoink-. But im guesing 343 new that already and just wanted to make the most money possible while at the same time as sacrificing key gameplay elements. 343 is not worthy of the halo franchise and I sure a hell will not be buying halo 5 unitll I can play it at someone who owns it house or a beta.
Halo 4 could be a great game, but there are many different fixes that need to be implemented. And if they don’t, I will sadly stop playing; halo 2 and 3 took away years of my life.
