One of my main problems with 343 Industries, is that they do not really listen to their fanbase. They don’t listen to our criticism, and therefore, produce the opposite of what we want. For example, many people hated Halo 4, so then 343 decides to make, in my opinion, the worst Halo game of them all. They even added micro transactions. 343 didn’t listen to us and produced a game that many of us didn’t like. Admittedly, there are some people, possibly more people than I realize, that actually like Halos 4 and 5. And this rant isn’t against you in any way. Going back to my argument, 343 has done a great job with MCC, and has given us what we want. And, after years of people wanting more Sangheili content, 343 finally leaks Season 7’s content. I myself do not really care about Sangheili content. But many of us Halo fans have been longing for Sangheili content. This is much appreciated, 343. I hope that 343 has learned from the majority’s reactions from their last few games, and actually listens to us in the future.
Thank you for listening to my argument, have a good day,

- You offended Thel Vadam4201 by saying you don’t care about the Sangheili >:( - While I do miss the Bungie form of Halo, it is nice to have a change sometimes. I enjoy Halo 5 multiplayer more than any other. The campaigns had good graphics and they were fun to play. - Most people do think that 343 listens to the community. 343 hasn’t released a lot of first person shooters yet so I suggested we wait and see what Infinite gives us. - 343 may have decided most Halo players didn’t like Halo 5 and you may be pleasantly surprised. - 343 released action sack to provide a way for community created modes to be put out there. In this way they are listening to the community. - Not everything the community wants will be presented in a game. people have different opinions and whatever makes the most people happy will probably be the ideal choice

Fair point
But I still believe, that if they spent more time with their community, they’d have a better idea on what to add to their games

They do listen more than you think but I think a lot of people hate REQ’S and hopefully we can get only permanent one’s in Infinite
You’re making the assumption that the Halo community speaks with one voice. There are millions of Halo fans with entirely unique opinions on what they want Halo to look like. 343 has the unenviable task of finding a compromise between all these different preferences. I don’t like many things 343 has done, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t listening to the fans. They’re just not gonna do exactly what I want them to do.
You’re also making the assumption that 343 is entirely in control of development. They have to answer to Microsoft, who is ultimately the one footing the bill. So not only do they have to balance all the ideas they get from the community, they also have to navigate corporate preferences.
I’m really not sure what more 343 can do to show they listen to the fans… I can’t think of another game developer that interacts with its community as much as 343 does. I’m not a 343 fanboy by any means, but I can appreciate the position they’re in.

By no means am I intentionally making the assumption that we are all one voice. In retrospect, it does kind of sound that way the way I wrote it. I know we are constantly divided.
As for your second point, do you mind elaborating?
I know 343 isn’t entirely in charge of development, but they still make the story, and the gameplay/movement/art style.
And as for your 3rd point, I know they are active in the community. But come to think of it, it would be harder than we can imagine to make the perfect game. I guess I’m taking for granted what 343 has done
Listening to the fans doesn’t mean doing everything the fans say. Many fan requests contradict each other, it’d be impossible to implement them all. And while fans have many ideas of what they want in a game, the dev’s job is to figure out what is best for the game. Sometimes what’s best for the game isn’t always clear to the fans, because as fans we’re really only concerned with our personal enjoyment, but devs have to consider the enjoyment of the entire player base. That’s not easy. Granted, sometimes devs implement things that don’t work out, and they should learn from those things. But that doesn’t mean they should let fans dictate how a game is made.
Although Halo 4 and 5 where my least favorite Halos in the franchise I do have hope that 343 nails Infinite.

I’m starting to realize this. I guess I was just taking for granted what 343 has done.
When you say the fanbase do you mean the people on the forums or the people that play the games? Reason I ask is because while I busy playing Halo Reach back in the day people were complaining on the forums about it. What happened was bungie made changes I didn’t like so I went to the forums to see what was up. When I voiced my displeasure on their forums a community member replied with “the forums have been filled with complaints about that issue.” I simply replied how was I supposed to know when I was enjoying the game and it was a non issue? Needless to say when Bungie listened to the forum population vs the people that played the game and didn’t complain I stopped playing Reach because they broke it in my opinion. I guess the point I am trying to make is how do you determine who’s voice is to be heard and do they speak for the majority of the player base.
Ok
The reason I posted this was to discuss opinions and learn from others. You all have made me realize that my opinion and argument is flawed. Thank you all for discussing this with me.

You are correct, how can we figure out what every Halo player thinks, when only a few actually come on this site? I have been going off stereotypes, and taking for granted what 343 has done.

I wouldn’t say your argument is flawed. My guess is you are like I was back when Bungie made changes to reach and you want the game to be enjoyable and don’t want to stop playing it. I didn’t want to stop playing Reach but when I felt my voice didn’t matter that’s what happened so I get it.

At this point I think our fanbase is so divided in what we want. Competitive team drama where the pro team by 343 Industries was getting shot down idea, after idea and then community outreach just not getting the message across until big YouTubers highlight an issue (and even then some goes unchanged like heavy aim) casual players want to be John-117 login and go 0-30 in Big Team Battle than blame 343.
Just so many moving parts to it.

Probably so
They have many times done the opposite to what the majority of fans have wanted, I agree with that.

That’s what I said
i think 343 defintily listened to the community after halo 5.
I would wanna point out that there are people who enjoy these seasons. Heck, there’s an actual FEEDBACK FORUM POST FOR EACH SEASON… you can’t say they don’t listen to the community when they clearly are in some points.
