ODST was one of the strongest Halo games I’ve played. I feel that it amounted more than Reach.
If 343 Industries could make an ODST 2, and make it as long as a usual game, people would love it. I love it anyway, but there are people who just say: “NO IT’S 5 HOURS AND IT’S LIKE COD SO IT SUCKZ”.
I think it would be best if 343 used the same Engine, but this may upset others. If they are going to make a new engine, it would probably be best for it to be very similair to ODST’s engine.
ODST had something inside it that was the strongest thing that ever pulled me into a video game. Sadies Story. I remember how much I wanted to find the next audiolog. If they make ODST 2, they should include another Story accessible the same way as in ODST.
If anyone disagrees with me, feel free to post. This is not B.net, so we should be able to have a nice debate. Let’s not have any insults here.
If anyone wants to read a couple things I wrote about why I feel ODST is better then reach, view these:
In what does Reach excel in? Firefight was much better in ODST. The waves were better, sets and ect. It actually required teamwork, in Reach all you see is people lone wolfing. ODST’s firefight felt more like a squad, Reach is the opposite. You can’t really say Reach firefight is better here.
Campaign: ODST wins this by far. Sure, Reach was longer, but what matters is the quality, not the quantity. Reach’s story: Predictable outcome, boring (except for LNoS), and terrible personality. Carter tries to be the big guy. But no one gives a -blam!- about carter! Same with the others. The only people that share emotion in this game are Jorge and Halsey.
I really did not care when Emile, Kat, 6, and Carter died.
ODST’s another story, though. You can feel the tension between the team, between Buck and Romeo, Buck and Dare. You can see how Dutch just tries to satisfy everyone. Mickey is unsure about his missions. It’s all there. Personality. Reach lacked this.
ODST had emotion. Reach did not. Which game touched me more? ODST. Which game will I remember? ODST.
Next:
I’d have to go with ODST.
First, ODST had the most brilliant campaign maps I have ever seen. The city was beautiful, and it has many secrets locked away inside it. NMPD? Fighting on Skyscrapers while an amazing skybox looms ahead? Awesome.
Second, Gameplay. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I feel that the AI in ODST is better then Reach’s. And ODST wasn’t just run and gun. You had to think about who you attack. I liked that better.
Third, Story. Great personalities, tension between the team, it all adds up. This story is neck and neck with CE in my opinion. Amazing story.
Fourth, Sadies Story. Best thing that’s ever happened to Halo.
This is the most I’ve ever been interested in a video game. I wanted to find those audiologs SOOOO much. I wanted to know how the story played out.
Fifth, graphics. Turn off Visr for a bit in the city. THe lighting is just amazing.
These are in no order of significance, just the order I chose to write them in.
In my opinion, ODST wins by far.
Note: The context of the other post is not here, so the posts may seem odd.
Well, post whether you think 343 should make ODST 2.
