343 Industries should make an ODST 2.

ODST was one of the strongest Halo games I’ve played. I feel that it amounted more than Reach.
If 343 Industries could make an ODST 2, and make it as long as a usual game, people would love it. I love it anyway, but there are people who just say: “NO IT’S 5 HOURS AND IT’S LIKE COD SO IT SUCKZ”.

I think it would be best if 343 used the same Engine, but this may upset others. If they are going to make a new engine, it would probably be best for it to be very similair to ODST’s engine.

ODST had something inside it that was the strongest thing that ever pulled me into a video game. Sadies Story. I remember how much I wanted to find the next audiolog. If they make ODST 2, they should include another Story accessible the same way as in ODST.

If anyone disagrees with me, feel free to post. This is not B.net, so we should be able to have a nice debate. Let’s not have any insults here.

If anyone wants to read a couple things I wrote about why I feel ODST is better then reach, view these:

In what does Reach excel in? Firefight was much better in ODST. The waves were better, sets and ect. It actually required teamwork, in Reach all you see is people lone wolfing. ODST’s firefight felt more like a squad, Reach is the opposite. You can’t really say Reach firefight is better here.

Campaign: ODST wins this by far. Sure, Reach was longer, but what matters is the quality, not the quantity. Reach’s story: Predictable outcome, boring (except for LNoS), and terrible personality. Carter tries to be the big guy. But no one gives a -blam!- about carter! Same with the others. The only people that share emotion in this game are Jorge and Halsey.

I really did not care when Emile, Kat, 6, and Carter died.
ODST’s another story, though. You can feel the tension between the team, between Buck and Romeo, Buck and Dare. You can see how Dutch just tries to satisfy everyone. Mickey is unsure about his missions. It’s all there. Personality. Reach lacked this.

ODST had emotion. Reach did not. Which game touched me more? ODST. Which game will I remember? ODST.

Next:
I’d have to go with ODST.

First, ODST had the most brilliant campaign maps I have ever seen. The city was beautiful, and it has many secrets locked away inside it. NMPD? Fighting on Skyscrapers while an amazing skybox looms ahead? Awesome.

Second, Gameplay. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I feel that the AI in ODST is better then Reach’s. And ODST wasn’t just run and gun. You had to think about who you attack. I liked that better.

Third, Story. Great personalities, tension between the team, it all adds up. This story is neck and neck with CE in my opinion. Amazing story.

Fourth, Sadies Story. Best thing that’s ever happened to Halo.
This is the most I’ve ever been interested in a video game. I wanted to find those audiologs SOOOO much. I wanted to know how the story played out.

Fifth, graphics. Turn off Visr for a bit in the city. THe lighting is just amazing.

These are in no order of significance, just the order I chose to write them in.

In my opinion, ODST wins by far.

Note: The context of the other post is not here, so the posts may seem odd.

Well, post whether you think 343 should make ODST 2.

I’ll say ya I want another ODST game but I want to be less Spartan-like.

I agree, but only a bit less spartan like. The stamina needs to be reduced just a little bit.

I’d love a second installment of ODST. Even if it follows a different squad I’d be completely okay with that. ODST is a beautiful game. I was playing it the other day and I completely forgot how awesome the soundtrack alone is.

I had a thread in the Fiction forum about ODST 2 being in Reach. Unfortunately the thread went poof. Everyone was agreeing on having it center around Buck. I would definitely love to play as him again. He is my firefight voice in Reach.

I’drather like Halo 4.
Reach, ODST, Wars are good games (or bad, depending on your opinion) but either way they feel like distractions, side-dishes to the juicy Campagin steak of the main story arc. There are so many possibilities for a huge, epic, new and original Halo game, I’d hate to see 343 bogged down in another ODST or Reach.

What sort of things do you have in mind?

I wrote a (very early) idea, the thread is called “Halo 4 campaign sketch,” google it if you want. I’m working on a more complete version, it’s not finished yet, I’ll post it when done. I think - well, hope - it would make a good Campaign.

I will be sure to do that. =)

I would be alright with it… as long as -Yoink!- doesn’t pull out the “full-price” card, again.

As long as it has the multi-player for another game that’s cool. ODST’s prize was justified.

Its definitely the most unique soundtrack. And in the respect of the music feeling dark and desperate I think ODST again was more successful than Reach. I just have to agree with DustiestLeech6. ODST was a great game and the characters were good. You’re right, I didn’t care about Noble Team… sometimes not even Jorge. But the Rookie… I had to survive… like something depended on it… and succeed.

Firefight was definitely better. Even with customisation, Reach’s firefight can’t progressively become harder as ODST’s did. I think the Chieftains were better and I miss those Jumppack brutes. The final round drums were amazing to listen to as well. xD And the locations were very cool. Their geometry was brilliant in terms of gameplay, while visually they looked sweet. I could go on and on… xP

I would definitely love a second ODST. The only thing I would have changed is the 50% reduction in shield damage in all human, and brute projectile weaponry. Other than that I loved ODST.

And things like that could easily be addressed in a sequel.

All I would want from a sequel is.
*Projectile weapons doing normal shield damage, Brute and Human.
*Minor damage buff to pistol
*Tighter carbine spread
*Rare BRs with minor spread and recoil(like the Carbine)
*Buffed Plasma Pistol.
*Larger sandbox area with safehouses.
*No dates and time given for flashbacks, more of a mystery.

Most of the gameplay alteration wouldn’t take much comparatively and pretty much every other aspect of ODSTs design was spot on.

HALO REACH: ODST…

Seriously though, Reach’s campaign felt like it was lacking something… oh yeah, it was SPARTANS!!.

Seriously, if Noble Team were a squad of ODSTs instead of SPARTANs then the campaign would have made a lot more sense…

OT though: After escorting Buck, I wanted to know what his mission was and what he was doing before and after “New Alexandra” fell. Dutch and Romeo were on Reach too so I wonder what they were doing.

Yes, I like the mystery part. This may just be my Film Noir style of things, but I’d love it if you had to piece things together. Especially in a raining city. I think it would really be nice if the Rain kept getting more heavy and heavier, until it became morning and it layed up a little, sunshine shone.

> I agree, but only a bit less spartan like. The stamina needs to be reduced just a little bit.

When you play ODST on Legendary, the stamina is low enough

90% of the missions were not dark nor unique except LNOS, but I did feel something for every Noble characters death. ODST 2? Heck yes! However if it delays Halo 4, nono!

You can’t really judge odst along the lines of firefight though, the firefight we play on matchmaking now is all just fun.
If however we were to recreate the aspects of odst such as the unlimited rounds, the wave properties, the lives system, the skulls and maybe the player preferences, you can make firefight almost the same experience, except with jetpacks

I just hope Frankie wasn’t lying when he says we have only just started with Halo. I’d love Halo Wars 2, another installment of ODST.

I would like lower stamina as long as projectile weapons did not have that 50% shield reduction ODST had.
