343 Industries isn't killing Halo. It's the fans.

343 Industries is ruining (insert hissy fit here). I respect the ability to criticize here what we want in a Halo game. It’s interesting to see what ideas other players come up with as well as how other players like to play. Before Halo Waypoint I didn’t know their were so many people who liked to have multiplayer play out exactly like it did in the older Halos. I’m fine with people criticizing Halo like this, “I didn’t enjoy the Halo 5 beta. I think the pace is too fast, aiming down sights feels weird, and climbing up things doesn’t flow like everything else”. Then there’s the people who say, “343 Industries is ruining my childhood”, “343 Industries is ruining competitive gameplay”, “343 Industries is ruining multiplayer”, “343 Industries is ruining Halo”. That’s always the one word that links these people together: ruining. These are the same people who call themselves Halo purists because they started playing during the original trilogy. Because they started playing during the original trilogy they’re all high and mighty and they know what a Halo game is (which doesn’t make them special until more than half of the Halo fans joined Halo during Halo 3). 343 Industries isn’t ruining Halo. It’s the fans. Half the fans on this site are hostile to 343 Industries. It’s one thing to criticize 343 Industries, but it’s another to say that they’re ruining Halo. Don’t mind the fact that 343 Industries doesn’t just have to cater to their needs as well as the needs of new players. Call of Duty is dead now and its last game, Advanced Warfare, had a lot to offer when it came to groundbreaking gameplay in its franchise. Call of Duty players are going to be looking for a shooter now. Why not Halo? In order for Halo to sell they can’t offer anything less than what Call of Duty Advanced Warfare offered. And if you think Halo’s becoming like Call of Duty Get Over It. Don’t you think Call of Duty borrowed from Halo with invisibility, thruster packs, and exo-suits (which are like Spartan armor)? 343 Industries is moving forward. If you don’t like how it plays out like Halo 2 or Halo 3 then play those games! They still have a lot to offer even 8-10 years later. Criticize 343 Industries all you want, but don’t you ever dare say they’re ruining Halo. At least half the fans of Halo still support it and Halo 5 may draw in new fans into Halo. But why would they want to play Halo 5 or any Halo for that matter when they have such a rotten community, hostile fans, and half the people who play the Halo series says it sucks? 343 Industries won’t kill Halo. The fans will. Game over.

damn! i hate those fans

Well you just proved OP’s point.

‘Oh no, people don’t like something i like! I must make an angry thread about this issue!’

Please enlighten us all on what a Halo game to you then is.

A game that tries to stay true to itself?
Hell, even Reach stayed true to itself, even though it had multiple things in it that weren’t needed at all.

Criticism comes with the turf; can’t take the heat stay out of the kitchen. Although I like playing Halo 4, Halo CE and Reach are my favourites. 343 needs to listen to the people that buy their games; “Consumer demand” folks. It’s all about the player’s perspective. And I’m not saying “just because one person doesn’t like it, it should be changed”. No, I’m saying 343 needs to take a step back and really look at what made Halo, Halo. In Halo 2 multiplayer was amazing because everybody was evenly matched - Everyone started with the same gear, everyone had an equally fair chance to kill someone as the next. Halo 4 brought a dinner plate that people nibbled at, but didn’t necessarily think of a full 4 course meal; ya feel me? Let me elaborate; the new tactical packages and all that werent needed - it makes for an unfair advantage between atleast two players on opposing teams. And with that; the dominating player feels more comfortable going after the one who has no chance. Leading to games that end with scores of 600 to 120? That is neither fair nor is it fun for the team being -Yoink- on. I think we can all agree on that. Players are not ruining the game; negative feedback is what pushes the company to fix things, to correct what they have mistaken. Without anyone giving them that little push, who’s to say Halo 4 would’ve came out better then it had? Absolutely nobody.
