343 Industries Considering Iron Sights *Interview Link*

Well its not like there going to do it like COD, it says here that they want to do and might do it without harming the core aspect of the game.

AKA, testing will be done or else -Yoink-.

It worked in Gears Of War 3 with the Hammerburst, Iron Sights for Halo? Seems very viable.

There’s already a thread discussing this in Multiplayer, I believe…

If iron sights are implemented in Halo, not buying. Ok I probably will but I won’t be happy about it :stuck_out_tongue:

> If iron sights are implemented in Halo, not buying.

There is another article with the full interview that is more understandable and less confusing than this one. Trust me they won’t do iron sights, even if they do it won’t be like COD.

Hell, COD shouldn’t even be compared to a better game like Halo. KEEP OUT COD!!

So disappointed to hear they’re even considering this. Aside from the fact that looking down sights makes me nauseous, it would ruin the energetic strafe/jump longer fights that make halo special and different. If anything make it an option so us real Halo fans dont have to deal with it. Either way I dont get whats with all the changes. They lost a huge part of their community to loadouts etc, why add more stuff people dont want in the dang game.

So, in an article titled “Why Halo doesn’t have iron-sights.” and the following

> “I think we could add iron-sights and we could make the encounters shorter and all of that stuff, but the soul of what makes Halo and the soul of what keeps people coming back to it year after year is what’s at its heart and it’s that kind of encounter and that kind of sandbox experience and the sci-fi universe that it exists in.
>
> Chad Armstrong added that putting in iron-sights would be checking a “bullet-point,” but it would “require a lot of testing and a lot of user-research to figure it out.” All the same, Armstrong says it’s important to occasionally look at the project with fresh eyes and consider new things.

And from that, you thought you’d make a topic titled “343i considering iron sights” and state they want to test it???

That’s some pretty shady translating there.

I highly doubt they would add this. I have no idea why people are freaking out.

If you read Frankie’s comment he said “they could add iron sights, but that is not Halo.”
Basically he’s saying what Halo is now is the reason people keep coming back to play the game.
You can’t just change the soul of a game. I would still but the game if they added it. I have no issues with the way either Halo or COD plays.

For weapons that actually have sights on them like the SMG the idea could be cool, but otherwise it makes absolutely no sense.

If they did add it, I wouldn’t see the problem. As long as the core gameplay is and feels like a Halo game should, then I’m all for it. Iron sights are very helpful, but the fact that people automatically have COD embedded in their minds, should get their heads checked.

I think it would irritate the people like me who have been playing Halo since CE came out. I dont play CoD or alot of other FPS games cuz I don’t like looking down the guns I like Halo’s style. I don’t have COD embedded in my mind but a good portion of other FPS games seem to use ADS.

I just wouldn’t see the point in iron sights when we have a 100% accurate reticule built into our HUD already anyways since ADS serves the same purpose pretty much, and when half the weapons in Halo’s sandbox as of right now don’t even have sights that would be a little hard to accomplish, as well as not make sense moving backwards in time to where the UNSC starts using weapons with sights and lose the function of the reticule built in on all of their spartans somehow.

I will say a form of iron-sighting is butting the weapon harder to limit spread/bloom. At no time would we loose our constant neural-link added sights. Nor would we loose how the monocle works for the Marines. Nor would the weapon come right up to our faces like iron-sighting does.
What we would have is something similar to iron sighting where a player slows in movement, butts their weapon tighter and increases their precision because of it. The weapon would be larger and tighter to the screen, but nowhere near as much as CoD or BF.

In honesty… meh. I would rather an always Evade button rather than a spread/bloom reducer button.

Why would we have iron sights? A spartan’s HUD practically aims for them.

This was in the video interview… and I think some people are looking way too into this. Sure it’s a possibility, everything is a possibility as they have to keep Halo fresh. But it’s highly doubtful as it’s not core to Halo.

Ironsights?

Good. Halo’s scope system bothers me a bit, because it seems to instantly teleport the camera forward a foot or two before zooming in. When you change scope state, your camera no longer reflects your actual location, and anything you may have been aiming at before scoping in or out will just “jump” to a different part of the screen due to the instant camera movement. A lot of people don’t have a problem with this, but it’s kinda jarring for me.

In the games I’ve played, ADS doesn’t move the camera; it only zooms, so the camera is still in your head and the gun is still on-screen. If a target is on a particular spot on your screen, it’s usually still gonna be in that spot when you start or stop ironsighting (or, at least, you’ll see it move as the zoom changes, instead of it just “teleporting” because the camera did).

[/opinion]

I don’t see how this wont -Yoink- up the core gameplay. They would have to keep bloom wouldn’t they? Nobody wants that.

Now we will have people that sound like COD players trying to pull off 360 no scopes.

Just read the article and now I’m scared for H4. They want to add iron sights and shorten in game encounters. This does not sound good. I hope they at least have a playlist for non iron sights game types.
