343 Industres, please make a CEA playlist with Stanard Reach gametypes

First off 343i, I’d like to say thanks for putting your time into this game. I’ve played a level and a half of campaign and the graphics look great and it plays just like CE. The firefight map was also enjoyable and visually pleasing.

I like the new multiplayer maps. I don’t, however, like the anniversary gametypes, or the Title Update gametypes. I have a couple of requests that would make me and I think, many other people happy.

  1. Can you make a playlist that has the new maps, but without the Anniversary gametypes?

While I realize that some people like the Anniversary gametypes, I do not.
I’ve played the new playlists for a couple of hours now and I find it very hard to switch between Anniversary gametypes and the TU gametypes. The Anniversary gametypes have a melee damage modifier, a different pistol, and different speed and shield regen rate. The jumping also seems a little off: it feels like you jump not very high and then fall more quickly than in normal Reach.

Switching between pistol dominated matches to “normal” (TU) games is jarring. I feel like I’m switching between levels of Super Mario Bros 1 for the NES and Super Mario Sunshine for the GameCube. It throws my game out of rhythm. For the first half of a match playing Anniversary Slayer after playing “normal” slayer, I miscalculate jumps, try to beatdown like normal, and get confused by the different map configuration.

I think that a playlist without Anniversary gametypes would be great and would produce a much more fluid, regulated experience. Playing games with the same settings in succession would allow a chance to “get into the groove,” whilst the current playlist arrangements does not allow this.

  1. Could you make a playlist with Classic Reach Gametypes and the “reimagined” Anniversary maps? (I.e. Solitary and Battle Canyon, not Prisoner and Beaver Creek)

From the first few hours of having the game, I can honestly say that I really like the new maps. CEA possibly contains some of my favorite of all of the Reach maps. After playing the same maps for a year+, it’s nice to have some new spaces to explore and fight in.

I personally don’t like the settings in the Title Update. I know there is a lot of debate among the community on whether or not the update is good or whether or not there should be bloom, but personally, I like the Reach multiplayer that was shipped on the Reach Disk. I know that you guys are doing your best and trying to do what the community wants, and I aknowledge that and thank you guys at 343i for continuing the Halo Franchise to the best of you ability. Personally though, I like having bloom. After months and months of perfecting my play style on Reach, I have gotten used to bloom and use it to my advantage.

I don’t like the Halo 3 style of shields in the TU. This makes it so that a punch or DMR shot can take you out even though you still have some shields left. I have played Reach since launch night and I don’t like how the game that I have gotten to know and love is being changed. It’s the same game, but it just has several subtle changes. It’s kinda like giving Lebron a basketball that’s half an inch smaller in diameter or a slightly smaller pair of shorts. He can’t necessarily figure out what’s wrong, but something’s bothering him and his game is off. The same is true for me. I can’t properly judge when to take cover like I used to be able to. It used to be whenever my shields were out 'cause I could get hit by a DMR headshot, but now you can be killed by headshots even with a bit of shields. There are numerous other examples of why I don’t like the TU and how the changed settings affect my skill, but you guys get the idea. I just want to be able to play the game I’m used to with the new maps you guys made, but currently I can’t do that.

So these new playlists put me in a hard spot. I love the new maps and want to play on them as much as possible, but my experience and enjoyment of the new maps are hindered by the gametypes available. I find myself fed up by the systematic switching of base settings, and I frequently have to repress the urge to throw my 360 out the window when I get killed by a headshot or melee when I still have shields like happens in the Title Update gametypes. I realize that you guys have implemented the Title Update to please the community, but I think that those of us who want to enjoy the new maps (and all of your hard work) should be able to do so in a 4v4 slayer and objective playlist that utilizes the standard settings and gametypes from Halo: Reach.

Again, I just want to say that I am thankful for you guys and the work you are doing. I know you care about the community and I hope that you’ll change some playlists around and make one where your new maps can be enjoyed with the original settings. Thanks guys.

The new maps are in regular playlists, although, only the Reach Versions, not the Anniversary ones.

The new maps will be adopted into MM later today as part of the second matchmaking update for November.

If you don’t like the settings, then stick to social Reach. Your experience will be that much better if do so.

Yea, they are. I don’t want to have to just go search in normal playlists and hope that they randomly hook me up with 7 other people that happen to have CEA though. The ratio of people who have CEA to people who have Reach is probably quite small. Thus, you won’t get matched with them very often. And even when you do get matched with people who have DLC, very rarely is the DLC gametype picked (nor is it going to be more than one or maybe two of your three options and probably has an undesirable gametype attached to the map).

I don’t really feel like it’s too unreasonable to ask for there to be one playlist for the entire Anniversary edition that has just classic reach settings with the new maps. As it is now, people who have only Anniversary edition (I have Reach) can’t play normal Reach online, they can only play the Title Update. I think that’s pretty limiting. CEA wasn’t shipped with Halo: Reach multiplayer, it was shipped with Halo: Reach Title Update multiplayer.

I’d also like to note that my main point in writing this is not to complain. I like the game. I like the maps. I like the campaign. I like the graphics. I just don’t like the playlists and I’m just asking if they can make one playlist that has normal gametypes.

Bone, let the game sell first, it just barely came out just three hours ago and the population will increase (thus increase the chances of playing DLC maps on regular Reach). I forgot to mention that today, they readjusted the weightings of all DLC maps so now you’ll be paired up with those with the maps more frequently, more so than in the past actually.

Then you have Premium Battle, which focuses on DLC maps only. So when it has a stable population again, you can go there for your DLC fix too.

Therefore since you have the DLC maps (with appropriate population with the CE:A maps), there is no further reason to have a default gametype within Anniversary.

Default needs to die.

Nah, man. It doesn’t need to die. I’m not saying Anniversary is bad, I just don’t like it. It’s all about personal preference.

Wow… this new site is -Yoink!-…

shakes head Anyway, the maps will be available in default Reach for all later. Of course you won’t see it alot in the “Reach” playlists, but you have to give it time to sell, first. Most people won’t get it until the stores are open. I won’t be getting mine until later today.

I don’t really like default Reach either (i think it is are awful), i have many good reasons why but you are right. It’s a matter of preference and i am not going to dissuade you.

The most i can say is that you should try out the new settings more and get practice with them but by all means if you enjoy social Reach, than keep playing.
