343 - I think releasing a roadmap would help with a lot of the anger some people have

Roadmaps just create more problems and outrage.
they don’t want to put more deadlines on themselves, potentially not meet them, and get cyberpunked or anthem’d, did you see those roadmaps? jokes.

That’s why I used the foggy window analogy. They are being more transparent than most companies, but their transparency is like looking through a foggy window. You can’t really make out what’s going on unless its up close.

Yeah it’s like I said. They are being transparent, but not really telling us exactly what’s going on. Just that stuff is being worked on.

I agree with this partially because it’s a double edged sword.

  • It’s pretty damn clear that most of the toxic posting in Waypoint/Reddit is by people with little understanding of development/little workplace or life experience, so a road map to them is like “we promise X by Y date” which road maps change and anything posted will be over-analyzed by this group, thus turned into 1,000 posts a day about it.
  • You really don’t want to post everything you’re doing, it slows down development and creates catch-22 situations.
  • Squad/OWI and Rust/Facepunch have these things, but they’re metered out + they’re indie studios. Facepunch even wound down from weekly to biweekly to monthly updates with a suggested feature election/denial system. Squad’s roadmap hasn’t been maintained as much, nor have deadlines been met, but it’s something.
  • Using the 1 month example, a lot of the squeaky wheels on here freak out if you don’t write them a personal handwritten letter within 48-72 hours of their complaint (that they didn’t even proof read) being posted.
  • I’m not sure a mega title from a major studio/ Microsoft 1st party is going to have the ability to post granular data to the public. It’s one of those IYKYK things.

I’m a real fan of Halo and not 343 as far as I have seen have ruined halo…

I disagree with you.

I’m pretty sure a roadmap is a great way to communicate what will be done and encourage patience instead of asinine comments and responses that don’t define any of the actions being taken by them at all. It would definitely, ah… I don’t know how the refrain goes, "chill the waters"?

Isn’t the HCS skin free? I got one free from the store a while back…

maybe, maybe not.But it helps to know when people will actually get to enjoy a “REAL HALO GAME” rather than something aimed at emptying our wallets

Only the Red White and Blue one the official team ones aren’t free.

That was my thinking as well

If they were to release a roadmap it would have to Be transparent that is pasted on all platforms waypoint, Twitter, Reddit. So no one would miss it secondly it wouldn’t need timelines, but could provide estimates to goals they have for the game, for example Forge so on the roadmap it could say

-Forge: (progress XX%) (estimated date)

Something simple like that listing goeals and maybe progress would definitely help.

Yeah I was thinking like have a map for the whole year and then give rough estimates on when new stuff like events and maps would be released, but not necessarily spoil what they are then for bug fixes have a list of what is being worked on first, what’s been completed and on the way, what’s almost done and so on.

I don’t think they can give exact timelines for everything though.

No that’s why I was saying a rough estimate. Like we expect it to be done and released around this time. Don’t have to give an exact date just a rough estimate on when we might see it. That way we have a timeline of when we’ll see new content and also know that the specific stuff the community is complaining about is being worked on. Because right now all they are saying is that it’s being worked on, but not giving any details on what exactly is being worked on and if it’s even being touched right now or just on a list to be done.

But I put 'estimate" in my example… honestly it kinda feels like you kinda ignored my example, sorry.

I read it. I wasn’t responding to that one, but the one where you said they couldn’t give an exact date. I agreed with you and said that’s why I said estimate because they can’t give an exact date until stuff is closer to being done and that they could at least give a rough estimate like for example we are expecting to be releasing a new map some time in February or like you brought up Forge. They could say it should be ready around March/April. That way it we have a rough timeline on when to expect it instead if just sitting here wondering when we might see some new content or just know what’s being worked on and what to expect first.

A roadmap would help a lot, but tbh I assume that, if they are taking criticism into account (which isn’t really granted, but I hope so), any roadmap that they put, say, today, might change in the next few hours, and again, and again, etc.

But yeah please, roadmap whenever you can guys.
Allow me to see a “fixing coatings because they bad” at some point, even if it’s in months, and I swear I will stop complaining about this. Easy as that.

Good to see some Youtubers are saying the same thing

They chose to make the game a live service so they need to do something in the way of letting us know what’s going to be coming and what’s being worked on. Because as is the game itself is great, but there’s plenty of issues and lack of content that is just going to make people play something else if they don’t know what’s coming or what’s going to be fixed.

Curious: What do you consider Core Features that are missing, (preemptively) as opposed to past features of different games that you want? Core Features, to be clear, as elements to the game that directly impact it’s ability to be played.

Forge for one, a stable multiplayer, seperate slayer and objective play list.
