343 I Love Halo infinite

How about Halo Infinite? First impression bots are only as good as real players
Oms ¿?

Infinite was great but using bots was a mistake.

I think that this was actually a pretty good strategy. They were able to showcase some of the new tech that will be in the game and get people excited for the implications of Bots in MP while being able to test and improve them for launch. It also allowed the community to really focus on what the devs wanted feedback on (UI, Customization, Weapon Balancing, Map Design, and any issues with getting the game running on different hardware) without the community having the games be all sweaty. At least for me, it’s harder to focus and give feedback in such a short period of time if I’m already focused on winning matches.

Elaborate. They had a specific technical reason for doing so hence tech preview. It most likely was to monitor and see how the netcode was on the client server side to ensure lower latency and more connection stability. Of course they wanted to get feedback for gameplay too. After everything was good they opened up PvP to test further.

The reason I play a multiplayer beta is to get a feel for the multiplayer. I can’t get a feel for the multiplayer if I’m not actually playing multiplayer. Bots make me feel like I’m playing firefight. I want players that can actually out smart me, not brainless robots. I want to test the servers and gameplay against real people!

It’s wasn’t a beta though. They stated this multiple times and I believe had a prompt telling you such when you opened the game. Wait for the game to actually release of you feel like the experience isn’t for you. They are doing what needs to be done for them.

The bots were far from brainless, for one thing. Sure, they really couldn’t beat us, but they certainly aren’t campaign AI, and frankly they’re better than a lot of players in certain areas. For another thing, there’s still plenty you can get from matches against bots. Movement feel, maps, weapon balancing, visuals, physics, etc.

This wasn’t a beta, it was a technical preview. It was specifically not called a beta so that people wouldn’t expect a full multiplayer playtesting experience, because that wasn’t what this was.

For AI I thought they were pretty good

343 has made it clear that bots will be a consistent feature in the multiplayer to keep lobbies full and for training purposes, and that this preview was to test bots and the stability of the game. It’s true that the bots did some silly things during the TECHNICAL PREVIEW, but they were pretty interesting and could put up a serious fight at times. I’m sure their difficulty will be tweaked in time, and I don’t doubt that 343 is collecting some kind of user input data for the bots, a la machine learning. There also was a 2 hour pvp window during the end of the preview, but I doubt you were aware of that. You can just wait for the next flight which will likely be pvp and stop complaining. How embarrassing.

I liked them but they would improve more on them

I agree with you because playing against the boys did allow you to focus on the smaller details and explore the maps more. The two hours I played against others was sweaty especially for someone who stopped playing a lot since Reach.

don’t worry my friend i think 343 is going to hit really hard with not much missing for these bots to be perfect so i think 343 will do their best to make them even better before the end of the game.

Exactly. This was a general test of the core mechanics and technology, as well as a large scale test of bots, so 343 can make changes before the game releases. Sweaty PvP matches would heavily distract from that goal, because PvP leaves little to no room for exploration and experimentation.

Perhaps, but first the sandbox must be calibrated and bugs within it squashed. I think starting with bots was a very smart move.
