currently 343 are the only people who can change bloom, and such. i’d like to see a thread made for all of the different gametype possibilities. i’d like to see the following all in one place, ready to be downloaded:
0% bloom SLAYER and 0% bloom FLAG
5% bloom SLAYER and 5% bloom FLAG
10% bloom SLAYER and 10% bloom FLAG
[omitted the obvious]
then ending at something like 350% bloom for SLAYER and FLAG.
at the VERY LEAST i’d like to see
115% bloom SLAYER and FLAG
125% bloom SLAYER and FLAG
135% bloom SLAYER and FLAG
145% bloom SLAYER and FLAG
shishka has stated the following things are true regarding bloom:
1.) the goal of bloom was to enforce a cadence
2.) shooting to cadence is really only a valid tactic at range (fail, see #1)
3.) the closer you get to your opponent, the less cadence applies (more fail the closer 2 people are together)
4.) players both casual and competitive can attest to how spamming the trigger actually becomes the more reliable option here.
5.) So, ultimately while the goal was to make the weapons feel more sophisticated and add a layer of skill required to use them, the net result has been that medium range weapons such as the DMR feel unreliable at their intended range.
6.) and trigger spam has not been discouraged. (but, as implied, it was meant to be)
LESS BLOOM DOES THE OPPOSITE of #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, AND 6.
85% bloom is the exact opposite of what we need. no bloom works because the person who shoots better wins 100% of the time, and ‘bloom’ is removed as a concept. leave that alone.
in order for bloom to function properly we need to PUNISH SPAMMING MORE, not make it MORE RELIABLE by shrinking the cone so your full auto spammed shots dont stray off as much.
You must have saw the last thread I made! I remember a couple months ago me and you butted heads on a lot, but I’m glad we agree on this.
I’m in full support of MORE bloom. I’d say 150% would be great. However I think the equation for how fast bloom expands in relation to speed of shots should be tweaked some. I’m willing to bet Megalo can do this also.
And yeah, 343i totally needs to pack their fileshare full of a whole bunch of bloom variants, or one setting of the TU is turned off, maybe ONLY bloom is edited in one gametype, etc…
I was suggesting increased bloom for the same reasons a while back.
I support, but with these settings:
120 Damage, 150 Resistence, 120 movement speed, 200% gravity, and bleedthrough. This will make strafing possible, as well as making the DMR a 4 shot kill. This will make kill times about the same speed even with the increased bloom, but get rid of randomness and add skill to the mix. I think actually just increasing the bloom to 120% is enough because it wouldnt slow the game to drastically, but the way 343 handles bloom makes it so the MAX SIZE of the reticule gets bigger too. This means you wont have teh semi accuracy currently found in reach.

If changing the bloom hinders with reset rate, making it bigger is out of the question. I can only imagine having to wait two seconds after every shot. But if it only hinders with the amount the reticle blooms after each shot, I’d say we could at least try.
