343 Hates Scorpion Lovers?

Why does 343i seem to hate Scorpion lovers?
In Halo 4, they made the tank shell really slow with lots of drop, and gave the tank an appalling top speed.
In MCC, they straight up removed the Scorpion from mostly all of the BTB maps.

In Halo 5 the Scorpion is more of a self-propelled gun than a Main Battle Tank.
Maneuverability is awkwardly difficult, it’s still slow af, and the only defensive/secondary weapon is an overly vulnerable MG which requires a second gunner to operate.
This is simply pathetic.
The increased speed & maneuverability of Spartans in Halo 5 along with the small a*s motion tracker are already fatal for a Scorpion.
So instead of mounting the coaxial MG back on the Scorpion, you implement an open-hatch MG that doesn’t even traverse the whole 360 degrees?!
WTF! Where’s the logic???

R.I.P Scorpion tank

I think a scorpion is still good though, I mean scorpion vs wraith, scorpion wins…

The point of this post is about Scorpion vs Infantry(especially on being boarded with no way to defend itself).

both the tanks were nerfed hard and kinda suck

reach’s scorpion was brokenly OP

Yeah I wish they’d increase the speed a tad at least. Nothing like spawning your ultra rare scorpion tank only to have it boarded and destroyed within 30 seconds! Radar boost in warzone/btb would help a lot.

IKR! it’s like 343 doesn’t care about vehicle play.

Before you get boarded, jump out

  • Spawn Scorpion - Get boarded - ??? - No profit

I agree that the Scorpion’s top speed needs to be drastically increased - I’ve OUTRUN tanks trying to get away from me on foot so I could board them - but honestly I think the bigger problem is one of terrain. Under ideal circumstances you would never take a tank into an enclosed area or a place where maneuverability was otherwise limited - look at the old Halo maps, then compare them to what’s in Warzone. Most of the new maps are fairly cramped by comparison, and while the varied terrain offers plenty of cover for infantry it removes the long sightlines that tanks really need to be used properly. They can’t avoid enemy fire from heavy weapons, and between the slow speed and lack of anywhere to go they’re amazingly vulnerable to boarding action. Their durability and the machine gun aren’t the issues - that set up has worked very well since Halo 3 where the thing was still a monster. The problem is lack of suitable terrain.

I’d rather die in my tank, then jump out and have it get stolen lol.

But if they go to board and end up in it, you board and kill them… All a matter of luck and timing…

Try camping with a tank. Now before you go AH CAMPER BLAH BLAH BLAH just realize that if you sit back and play a support role instead of an offensive role, it will work much better for you.

This is also true

“WTF! Where’s the logic???” Thats exactly what i said after reading your post.

That’s why you don’t go it solo. Have either someone in the turret or nearby to shoot off infantry. Plus, the person has to get on top of you, so you usually have plenty of chance to stop them. If you can’t, that’s why you should have backup.
If your backup can’t help you, then maybe you went too far forward. The tank has plenty of range after all.

The logic is in the post. Perhaps if you played the Scorpion in 343 games, you would understand.

The MG gunner can be easily shot out, and the spread on the MG is crazy. Plus there is absolutely nothing he can do if you’re getting boarded from behind, since the turret can’t traverse 360 degrees. Maybe 343 should actually make a tank that can actually fight as a tank.

It puts in more work than H4’s. I’ll say that much. As for the speed? It’s always been slow so I’m not bothered too much by it. I believe the H5 Tank’s top speed matches a Spartan’s sprinting speed. But I think a larger radar for large vehicles like the Mantis/Wraith/Scorpion is a reasonable request. But I’ll tell you one thing they buffed. The amount of punches needed to kill it once you board. If you don’t have a nade and need to punch it to death, man that takes a while.

The turret could go 360 degrees in Halo 2. You’d shoot your own tank doing that.

The Scorpion isn’t supposed to be something that can steamroll. It HAS to have checks and balances to keep it from becoming incredibly overpowered. It’s fine the way it is. There are counters to it.

Don’t want to get boarded? Don’t drive right up to the enemy’s base with it. Have someone watching your rear while you drive around. It’s a team game, not the Scorpion Show.

This is pretty much how I play with most of the vehicles. Not sure that it is right in all cases, but it seems to work for me. Would love to see some maneuverability improvements to the Scorpion though.
