Then - get this - next match, all members are Platinum to Platinum 6… except one team has a Champion. Champion?! You do realize that that is THREE divisions above Platinum, correct? You do realize that you just put the 50th best player in the world in that playlist against people of all statistically average skill levels?
So, anyway, of course we lose the game… by tying the score 50 to 50. WHAT.
343 is beyond incompetent, and this is no abnormality. The ranking system needs complete restructuring, as does 343.
Supplement story: Earlier I was on a great losing spree in FFA, consistently facing Champions and high Onyx players. I was Diamond of course because, you know, the entire point of the ranking system is to judge how good someone is and then purposefully match them against statistically better (and the best) players. Why is this even possible? Even if your game has such a low population that it can’t sustain even, ranked matches you shouldn’t be matching the respective double-digit top players in the world against average to slightly above average ranks.
I seriously don’t understand why 343 has this giant trouble with creating a good ranking experience. They couldn’t fix Reach Arena until no one played it, they couldn’t make a ranking system for Halo 4, they couldn’t copy and paste a ranking system that worked in MCC, and now we’re back to Reach Arena+ - and 343 has pro players at their disposal. WHAT.

Ugh but why are they making us face them in qualifier ranks though?
I assumed it works the same way it has before, first the system tries to pair you with players of similar rank, then it will slowly expand it’s search to other ranks until the lobby fills. Ive played against/with players who were entire tiers above/below me. My win/loss csr seems to reflect that game fairly well, with minimal impact for losing a game against someone who is supposed to be better than me. While your post qualifier ranking is calculated with the previouse seasons scr, I feel while in MM it still treats you as a clean slate, bouncing you between different skilled players/teams until it has finetuned your placement. The first 5 matches seem to determine your tier, and the last five seem to determine your rank within that tier.
What if the ranking system was made up and there is no program in place to determine what rank you truly are and this is all a hoax in order to get you to play more?.. If it is it totally worked because I have not stopped playing
