So been watching the “flight” and I am so disappointed… the trailer looked so good and the gameplay looks more on the classic side of things. Watching all of these streams the last day and this game seriously is Halo 5 without thrusters. Very disappointed and Halo in my opinion will never return to its former glory. Thank God we have MCC and the trilogy. Seriously though 6 years for this? Everyone from Bungie must have gone to destiny because 343 has no idea what the community wants.

Trust me, the game is much better when played. it feels a lot different than halo 5 (of course, retaining some halo 5 because it’s the most recent Halo game), and the gunplay feels so much cleaner. same with movement. genuinely think this game tops Halo 4 and 5 by a long shot. can’t say anything about Halo 1, 2 or 3 though coz the game is still in flight stage. but regardless, it’s a huge step up
Dawg the beta is sick and if you don’t like it just consider the fact that this is just a beta and a shell of what the game will be. Almost all fans on this game are pleased except you. Don’t say “Oh 343 has no idea what the community wants” 343 has no idea what you want.
It actually resembles the classic Halo experience for me but we all have different points of view/opinions.
yeah no. Its 1000 times better than Halo 5. You would have to actually “play” the game to understand though

If you don’t like it don’t play it. I feel like a majority of people liked Halo 5’s multiplayer but not the plot. So they’re changing and optimizing the multiplayer too make this game appeal too the next generation of Halo fans and trying too also make enough appeal too be played by original fans. Obviously it hasn’t made enough appeal for you in this early beta, get your own hands on it with the free-too-play multiplayer before you say that you hate it. If you do hate it you can uninstall the multiplayer, no money lost, and if you love it you can purchase the Campaign and come back too it in some of your free time.

Obviously being the first flight there are tonnes of issues that need to be addressed.
That said, I actually think its a soild foundation here to build from and tweak into what could be the best halo game since H3

I agree. This flight has felt like a return to the classic Halo feel in a modern game. 343 was never going to go back to the slow pace of the original trilogy, but removing the thrusters and the gunplay has made this flight a lot of fun to play. I’m excited to see the finished product now, more than ever.
I disagree,
after playing the flight myself I feel like it’s a blend of Halo 3 & 5 in the best way possible, sprint doesn’t feel too evasive like it has in prior titles, clamber & slide don’t impact confrontations as much as I thought they would & equipment (which have oddly slow windup times in my opinion) feel impactful but not overpowered.
I’m genuinely pleased with what they’ve done.

They’ve been such garbage for so many years that people will take anything they can get and they will defend anything. It blows my mind that people don’t want more of a classic style even though Halo 3 is still the most popular Halo. I believe what will make or break this game are the maps and so far we have seen the flight map which is mediocre, the modern warfare map which looks like trash and the one that actually looks good is the btb map. Oh and that other one from the trailer.

I can promise you they didn’t go to Destiny. Bungie is definitely not the model company when it comes to listening to their community. That is so far from the truth that it’s unreal.
I’m having a great time. This is the first flight. Future flights will test more content overtime before launch. Bots run server side so it’s a great stress test for them to run as a starting point. They were very transparent of what this would be in the tech preview stream they did as well. I knew what I was getting and what to expect. And for one map and the same gameplay loop I’m hooked, bad. Flashbacks to Halo 3 multi for me.
I’m sympathetic to your post, as I’ve been mildly underwhelmed with it myself. I do loath the H5 influence that I see in this game.
That being said, I do have to agree with others that this is a million times better than Halo 5. Despite what the community narrative is, Halo 5 is legitimately unplayable and just thinking about thrusting during combat gives me a headache.
Not making any excuses for 343i here, just saying it’s some degree of an improvement, even if it isn’t enough of one.
This flight feels like a perfect combination of classic and modern. This is just an evolution of the franchise as a whole and is really fun. Bugs aside, if the rest of the game feels this good then we have a lot to look forward to. Give it another chance with a different set of expectations.
If the maps are good and they slow the gameplay down a little bit more I would be perfectly happy. I’m having a hard time because in the trailer the gameplay looked a lot slower, seriously go back and watch Sprint compared to the flight…

Game is nothing like Halo 5, you will understand it when you put your hands on it.
As someone who hasn’t played the game yet, it looks like a mix of 3, 5, and dash of 4 and reach. It looks like a nice blend of everything. It looks great to me.

Everything you just said is mind numbingly stupid. 343 is not going to make a clone of halo 3. What they did with infinite was perfect. They combined modern and classic elements of halo into to appease new players and old. The first map is not to special but the “modern warfare” one is literally based off a halo 2 map, this shows how much you know about halo and that you’re a newer player. Please think before you post
