343 has forgotten about Assassinations

There hasnt been ANY mention of assassination since the multiplayer trailer release and an interview back over a year ago. With the recent roadmap looking terrible as well, assassinations seem like they are never coming back since 343 cant get a grip on their own game. Hell, BF2042 seems to be in a better place than Infinite is at the moment.

RIP my favorite feature added to halo. Wish 5 was on pc at this point.

Honestly, as cool as assassinations are, I don’t personally feel it’s that big an issue not having them in Infinite. (And it’d definitely be way down the list of things this game needs done to it) I can’t tell you how many times I’ve died or had my kill stolen because the game put me into an assassination animation when all I was trying to get was a quick backsmack.

It’s not a priority, there’s far more important things they need to address first

They were just gonna monetize them anyway. Shame too, because I really liked them.

Another example of a minor detail that is missing in this game that diminishes the overall fun factor… back smacks simply don’t cut it… assassinations we’re fun when somebody was up high and they went flying off into an abyss…

I liked them.

And I would definitely buy them… or go hard for them as a weekly reward.

But the sad truth is that most people turned them off.

And if they did use them, there was nothing more frustrating than seeing your team mate go for an assassination in the middle of a dog fight - give up the trade - and cost the team access to a power weapon etc.

They did make the point in the video that the cool extras that people want have to go on the back burner while they address the basics. I imagine assassinations are Exhibit A in this scenario.

In my experience, your teammate more than likely fat fingered the melee button and did it by accident. Also that’s why yoinks exist. That said, don’t yoink your friends.

Idk how many people actually turned them off H5, but I’d wager it was just the tryhards who don’t know how to have a bit of light hearted fun.

But they’re the best yoinks.

If and when we get them back I’m going to script an assassination game. Something along the lines of extra points for an assassination and even more for saving a team mate from one.

Not so much tryhards.

Just people who were sick of pressing the button for a moment too long and triggering the assasination when they didn’t mean to.

You only had to do it once or twice to become fed up with it.

And then you had team mates trying to yoink your kills - often inflicting friendly fire to you as well.

Sure, it was a lot of fun in Social / customs. But I can see why people just switched it off for ranked. And I guess it wasn’t worth the effort to keep switching it back and forth.

343 has forgotten a lot of things

You monster =P

I guess I just had a much higher tolerance for it than most. Misclicks happen.

That’s a teammate issue, but I know what you mean.

Either way, I think we both agree it was a fun addition to the game that was removed. Hopefully they come back, but I’m not paying for them lol.

TBH - the only item in H5 that I was grinding for were the assasinations.

I loved the one where stick them and then swing / throw them by their feet.

I would definitely open my wallet to that type of content.

It’s because they aren’t important compared to basically every other thing that is wrong with infinite. I responded to another guy telling him split screen was the least important pending thing - I take that back - assassinations are the least important pending thing for halo infinite.

Really I’m surprised they haven’t added them in for moarrr money yet. So either 343 can prioritize and realize there are far bigger fish to fry or they are incompetent and forgot assassinations existed - take your pick.

I wish that with the roadmap we could get a heat map of other content, considering how slow things are…

Like if they are fully cutting splitscreen co-op… are they cutting assassinations, and basically everythign else previously discussed?

If something explicitly promised has been cut, nothing is safe lol.

They haven’t forgotten about assassinations. They just hope WE have forgotten about assassinations, along with a mountain of other stuff.

Low priority but it’s yet another thing on the long list of “should have been there on release”
