I have spent 2-3 hours over several phone calls to Xbox support.
I have uninstalled, removed from list, unplugged my xbox one and plugged it back in after several minutes, and reinstalled the halo channel, both with headset connected and disconnected.
I have made doubly sure that my scan code for the app was used properly and that all other accounts on my xbox one were signed out when trying to play videos.
I have spent hours doing these steps, time after time, day after day.
some people have been disconnecting video capture devices and getting Nightfall videos to play. I do not own one of these devices.
The only thing I can surmise is that for people like me who are having problems playing the Nightfall episodes and the terminal videos found in game, are pretty much stuck with what they have until either the Halo Channel app gets a heavy duty update, or they rebuild the app entirely.
This isn’t p*****g and moaning, this is the fact that content a great many of us players paid for are not getting. Aside from the steps to take 343 put out in their blog about getting these vids to play, ive seen nothing about a future update for the halo channel, or any kind of fix for this. I know they have their hands full with the broken MM for Halo MCC, but isnt there a different group that handles this broken app?

Can you provide info on what the problem is presenting as? Are you able to see the Play buttons for Nightfall and Terminals, or do you see Buy Halo? If you see Play, and select play, where does the video go wrong for you? Does it play the Ad/Bumper video then show black before swapping to another video? Does it start to play a Terminal or Nightfall episode for a few seconds, then switch?

Okay, when I start up the halo channel everything is fine. I click on Originals in the header, then view episodes for Halo Nightfall. For each episode, there is a play button.(not the “buy Halo” button)
clicking on the Play now button on the episode, the video will show just the coming up next bumper, then stop loading altogether, black out and skip to a bumper for a news video like halofest or a forge instructional video.
when trying to watch the terminal videos for halo or halo 2, when actually playing the game and finding a terminal and activating it, the halo channel app will start to load by the buffering indicator (spinning circle icon) after a second, i will be bumped back into the game. When trying to watch terminal vids from the halo channel app, they will not play at all.
when uninstalling the halo channel, I am shown deleting the halo channel and Nightfall as two seperate apps. Ive tried reinstalling both seperately, and one before the other and vice versa.

noticed there was an update, now instead of skipping to the next free video, i just get the full screen error message.
I have the same issue it would just skip the video before the update and now I just get an error message sure it’s nice to get an several MB large update just for an error message and I can look over the fact that I have to log in with my brothers account to see the play button and be disappointing when it fails because we used his account to install nightfall and the app can’t tell it’s the same box when I log in with mine. What pisses me off is that all the other videos I couldn’t care less about watching are playing just fine meaning that the issues are all about DRM which is useless anyway because the episodes are ALREADY ON TORRENT SITES for everyone to watch.
I have this exact same issue. I just assumed it was broke the same for everyone like the rest of halo is.

We continue to investigate this issue, and know that in some instances, having multiple accounts actively logged can cause issues, as well as having any capture devices (DVR, etc) will cause the videos to be inaccessible. We have also found that some HDMI splitters (3-1 splitter, etc) can cause the videos to fail as well. If you have any capture devices inline to your monitor/TV, or an HDMI splitter, or other device that is inline between the Xbox One and the TV, please try to bypass those devices and see if it works.
Additionally, as a sanity check, you can try to watch on any Windows 8.1 device, using the Halo Channel for Windows app.
Okay I removed the kinekt because sometime it would log me in while trying to view nightfall with my brothers account. I logged in with my brothers account still I get the same error. I don’t have anything connected to the xbox I have an STB and a raspberry pie connected to the TV which I disconnected leaving the xbox as the only thing connected to the TV still nothing. tried a few different HDMI cables just in case again nothing. Unfortunately I don’t own any widows 8 device.
I have a question, I have a physical copy of the MMC collection which included the code for nightfall, if I remove the nightfall app that appears next to the halo channel will I be able to reinstall it using the same redeem code???

I have no capture devices or anything like that on my xbox one. If I had a device that ran Windows 8.1 I would try that. But as it stands, I am still getting the same error message that the update to the Halo Channel now provides. I know you guys are working hard and I’m very appreciative.
I am really becoming disappointed with Halo Channel. Due to my brother and I downloading the MCC to his account I cannot watch it on mine. worst of all, theirs no fix! I can’t even unlock the nightfall armor now no matter what! At least some of you have a chance to. but I can’t get at all.
I appreciate all the work you guys are doing and I just hope something can be done for those who can’t watch nightfall or even get the armor before the beta is over like some special armor code for it similar to the recon one from reach or something.

A couple things that could potentially be tried:
a) completely power down your Xbox One, either by removing the power cord for a couple minutes, or using the long power off (Hold the power button for 12+ seconds so it powers down completely instead of just going into sleep mode) and letting it sit for a couple minutes. Either of these would clear any local cache that could have an issue.
b) Reset the router your Xbox One is connected to. On some routers, it may cache recent connections… And if the end point you were targeting has changed, it would potentially cause a problem.
Let me know if these don’t resolve the issue and we can look at other trouble shooting steps!

Is Nightfall and Terminal videos the only content that won’t play? Do shows like The Sprint or The Bulletin work as expected?
When you attempt to watch Nightfall, does the button say ‘Play’ or ‘Buy Nightfall’?
Today I tried accessing multiple terminals in Halo 2 Anniversary. while i did get the achievements for activating them none of the videos played. and now the channel isnt working PERIOD. idk what 343 is doing but they need to get there -Yoink- together. this is ridiculous.

Need more info on what is happening in order to be able to help or figure out what is happening!

Do you use any Firewall software or DNS monitoring software on your network, stuff that may include Kapersky or Norton?

We have Norton in our network on all our PCs but i dont know if thats the issue. the terminals worked for Halo CA Anniversary even if there was a little trouble with those too. and the first few Halo 2 terminals also worked but those did give me a ton of trouble.

Is it possible to set exclusions on Norton to allow specific servers to be accessed, or to deactivate any ‘parental’ blocks for a short period of time to determine if that lets you past the blockage?
I don’t use the apps, but have had multiple users inform me that they are blocked by Norton and Kapersky (sp?) DNS/Parental/Firewall controls.
