343 had it right with MCC. What happened?

Warframe is free to play but excellent i think you can even trade items for the paid currency…

Yeah I thought Waterfall was interesting but it’s a Halo Online map anyway, not even 343’s so yeah

There was ALOT more to customize than this nonsense we have. What are you smoking?

They actually made some things worse. The custom game scene for MCC is walking on a hurt leg right now. You must add the host of a custom game to your friends list (“following” does nothing) or you can’t join someone else’s custom games. Same thing for campaign, firefight, or just grouping up to play matchmaking.

This is a nightmare for getting more PC players into a game. Windows 10 players have to use the clunky Xbox Game Bar, Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 players have to do something entirely different, and it adds such a huge hassle to the host of a match. It used to be you could join on any lobby.

What happened was that 343i fixed the Friends Only setting to no longer function like an Open setting, but they never added an Open setting. It’s been like this since Season 7.

I am sad about it.

Reminds me of Lockout.

you sure? i’d say there’s slightly more, just it seems for every addition, there’s a subtraction. Reach had the most amount of customization, and compared to infinite… i’d say there’s equal if not more customization in infinite
helmets, shoulders, knee, utility, armor effects, chest, wrist, visor, weapon/vehicle skins
FF voices are the spartan voices
additions in infinite include: AI, charms, kill effects, some weapon customization parts, more prosthetics, post game stances
removal of customization: arms, legs
changes: how choosing colors work and the gutting of how emblems worked -v-

What happened was 343 Industries trying to make Halo ESPORTS not more competitive, but more monetizable.

Halo 5 and Halo Infinite are prime examples of this.

the fact that you can’t even mix match armor…already shows that all the other halos 3 and onward have more customization options. You can’t even make you’re own emblem in this game. I’m sure.

What happened was Halo went free to play

That other stuff aside, I don’t understand why things like, your service record that actually shows what you’ve done And that we’ve had in so many past Halo games wasn’t present in this one. It’s ridiculous!!! I don’t want to go check some stupid site for me to see my stats. I want to see them in game!! Not to mention things like player collision. Who the heck wanted this gone?!?! It’s absolutely terrible not to have it in! I really really really hope they get that put back in at least for ranked. Also, why they didn’t have a ranked team Slayer playlist day one as well is beyond If they think people are going to like every ranked playlist to be HCS settings they’re going to have another thing coming. Tons of people are there like there AR pistol starts with radar. Stuff like this that I’m totally perplexed about. So many poor decisions in my opinion were made and I think they would have been better off to just focus on the multiplayer and delay the campaign or vice versa.

I think both would have benefited greatly by doing this. Right now the game just kind of feels very demo-like. Not so much the single player but even that.

… But yeah what happened with this game was really Mircotransactions and making it free to play. Simple as that.

fair point. armor cores, kits, and emblem limitations. for every customization step forth, another back. a darn shame as infinite could’ve been the best… and hopefully can be if 343 actually bothers listening

Making a Triple-A game is a tough and expensive procedure.
You have A LOT of production costs. For example -

  • Pay your employees
  • Pay for their benefits
  • Pay for the facilities they utilize
  • Pay for the hardware that each employee has to use
  • Pay for non-development employees such as janitorial, accounting, marketing, security, facilities/maintenance, etc.
  • Pay for the software that each employee has to use (modeling, sound design, graphic art setups, etc)
  • Pay for the licensing for the second-party systems that support your game and your engine.
  • Pay your voice actors.
  • Pay your foreign language voice actors.
  • Pay for the other properties you own across the world that house the servers used for multiplayer play online with your friends.
  • Pay for the maintainance and upkeep costs of said servers.
  • Keep paying your developers and other staff members an hourly rate after the game is launched so they can keep working on updates for game fixes and new content to be released.
  • Pay for the marketing (which often times DOUBLES the budget of the actual game itself).

Now, that is only a portion of what you have to cover, which when developing a modern Triple-A FPS game that aims for great graphics, sound design, and gameplay.

Now… … … promise your investors that you will see a return on a specified date. And when a worldwide virus comes along and halts production across the world, now you have to make up for lost time and delay your game and find a NEW optimal window to release it in where another Triple-A title will not come out and take away sales because not everyone can buy BOTH cool games that launch within a week from one another.

Your investors seek that return that they were promised PLUS some interest for the delays.

And that is how Halo Infinite went with a business model of a battle pass and shop system directly ripped from Fortnite… … because it is something that will likely guarantee returns and higher profits to satisfy that extra interest your investors want.

Honestly? I wish we went with the battle pass and the REQ system that we had in Halo 5. It was satisfying not getting duplicates ever in a loot-crate system. Sad that it was Halo 5 that was the first and only game I can think of that did this.

Not really sure I haven’t played Warframe in a long time but it is a fun free to play a game it’s a bit weird but it definitely has better methods of free to play than Halo infinite does the thing that sucks the most about Halo infinite is the game has so much potential to do amazing but because they chose this route it’s hindering the game significantly if they would have given us a game without a store or at least with a store that was significantly different than what we have now I doubt there would have been that much backlash if it would have been a fairly priced store and even a store where you could earn in-game currency from playing it just wasn’t a lot of in-game currency like make it to where you earn more from winning a match than if you lose a match but the earnings you do get isn’t a huge amount like you still have to play a lot in order to actually afford anything in the store because there will definitely be people who would rather just buy it then work towards it

Another thing that I wanted to mention the new daily offer that is popped up that is some new shoulder pads that are very similar in appearance to the Halo 3 Mark 6 shoulder pads why can’t the Mark 7 armor pieces be something we get by default players need something to at least change the appearance of their characters even a little bit if the game would have released with the store and with let’s say it released with four helmets the three that you can unlock from the battle pass The aviator trailblazer and obviously the Mark 7 and then the one you have by default players would have been a lot happier with those four options then with literally nothing and the same can go with the chest plates the three chest plates that you can unlock from the battle pass because you would still have four options because you would have the three from the battle pass and then the obvious option of not wearing anything and just having the default chestplate and the same can go for the shoulder pads the three that are in the battle pass being ones that are there by default and then you have the option to unequipped and have no shoulder pads that way there’s four options for the helmet and the shoulders and as well as the chest that would have at least given players something but we have absolutely nothing the battle pass should have only Halo reach gear in it the Mark 7 visors as well as the armor pieces should have been there from day one for the players to wear the only helmets that shouldn’t be able to be worn by the player are obviously the ones that are available in the store but those ones shouldn’t be as highly priced as they are they should be significantly low especially when those armor kits aren’t even a full armor kit it’s a few pieces and then the shoulder pad twice because of course they have to separate them instead of making them one item

MCC didn’t have micro transactions… I think that’s what happened. They have to make goals and meet them differently. It’s a whole different system now :money_mouth_face:
