For once, I don’t want a beta. Because I want the Halo 4 multiplayer to be a surprise. New spartans and weapons and maybe vehicles and game modes. But I hope there aren’t too many glitch’s.
First off, you probably don’t.
Second, chances are if you’re making the game you’ll be able to play it.
Why do we even care of course they have to test the game?
i have posted several time 343 is doing a closed beta this does not mean it is exclusive to 343 only but its still very limited large enough to get the same results but small enough to keep it contained

An office full of people will never have the same reach as a worldwide collection of people.

>Game gets released
>Played worldwide
>There’s your worldwide collection of players
Seriously, any problems that don’t get fixed before release, will get fixed after release as people report them.

and on the plus side, people won’t cancel their preorders based on a beta. I’m looking at you Reach. Didn’t millions of people play the beta, but only a fraction of them actually continued playing after release?

They could’ve been found earlier. Now I know I seem to be in the minority, but I do like playing games with as few bugs as possible at launch. Crazy I know. And I have to wonder how 343 plans to test how well their systems will handle the sheer amount of people on various connections of various quality around the world at any given time with their limited staff.

Which means we wait a year for another title update.

Didn’t take them long after they took over the game though?

The majority of beta release have already fix a large majority of the bugs.
Another thin is we cant say how large a group there actually pulling from statistically speaking Most closed betas get at least enough to fully stress test the netcode and bug caused by network connection.
know im not saying that there wont be minor mistakes but with a closed beta they will fix most of them. Unlike not having a beta at all, which is not the case

Give or take 6 months. 343 took control over playlist management in Feb or 2011. No TU until October of 2011. Granted, the reason most developers even have beta’s isn’t only searching for bugs, its to see if their servers can even handle the population and net-coding on a 24/7 basis.
343 won’t have that. I expect it to not work the first 2-3 days after launch because we will have to wait on servers.
Isnt this obvious? Just because theres no public beta doesnt mean the game is untested. They give (thousands of) employees builds to take home and play all the time, its called Partnernet. They did it for Halo 2.
No beta=More surprise. I personally never played the halo 3 beta if there was one, hell if I know. It’s a good idea in my opinion. At first i was bummed but Im glad they made this choice.

Missed stuff like superbouncing and button glitches. And map boundaries.
