I understand all the Hate with Halo 5. Story is to short and it is emotionless for the player to care about these character exception of Master Chief and Cortana.
What I think what 343i biggest mistake was character development of Locke and his team and also the back story. I’m not sure who 343i was praising this story for? Hardcore Halo fans or the new players? This story isn’t for any of them. Story base isn’t that bad, actually if you think about the story and some plots were good. Example:
There was great story writing. Think about it when Cortana told Chief that what she is doing is for the best of humanity. then chief explains " like what Halsey did to me?" That line, right there was Amazing. The reason why it is Amazing is because the reason why Cortana became the villain in this story is because her AI was the mirror image of the young version of Halsey when she made the Spartan to force other humans into peace under the UNSC. Cortana is doing what she is doing base on her development of her creation mirroring her maker Halsey. She is sending out the Guardian “aka spartans” to force peace for humanity and other life across the galaxy.I believe that example was great story telling for Master Chief and Cortana, two character that are already develop for us to care about this story. Halo 5 story base wasn’t majority base around this story though. Main part of this story was about Locke and his team to bring in Master Chief AWOL. Locke and his team wasn’t really good at making the Player to understand or care about these characters. Whole game was based about these Characters and plot, there was no back story for the new Characters and they never given that feeling for the hardcore player any feeling for these characters either. They didn’t even explain to the new players the deference in the spartans of blue team and red team. Hardcore fans already know about these characters, John is last of his generation type of spartans and the new generation mark 4 spartans are different.
I dislike Halo 5 for other reasons- No local Mulitiplayer or co-ops, story was to short with cliffhanger that doesn’t deserve it. Pros i do give for Halo 5 is some plots in halo 5 story was good. Multiplayer online was also good and fun to play. 343i is moving for the younger generation and try to bring halo into the new generation of players. I have no complaints for that, sprint a lot of old halo fans hate. I understand that argument because I dislike it also. I “PERSONALLY” (I highlight that on purpose to give your rants a hint) can live with those changes and others to help the halo series to survive. If we kept it the same for the hardcore fans, halo will die. I will give the hardcore fans this, some decision 343i made is also going to kill the halo new generations also.
New Generation of players:
- Character development for red team wasn’t there
- Local multiplayer and co-ops ( I know some of you is going to say that local is dead for the new generation (its all about the online). if you think about it the parents that are buying this game for the new generation of halo fans are also halo fans them selfs. If the parents (Halo fans) are P#ssed off. New generation do not have any jobs!! how are they going to buy your product if you are upsetting their parents fan base?) think about it, reading some comments there are many fathers that bought this game for his children and is upset, he can not play with them. Is that parent going to buy this game gain for his son or daughter?
3.Story was way to short and emotionless for players to care about - this might be a “Personal complaint” Gameplay was good in the solo part of the game but there was nothing in it that struck me like a “wow moment”
- repeating boss fight with Warden Eternal (worse boss character) Granted, it was fun fighting him at the beginning but over and over again became a grind and for many other players. Plus “Again” Warden Eternal had no Character development for players to care about. This Boss was annoying then anything else.
I understand some of you feel like 343i lied to us what this story was going to be based around from it advertising to all of us. I understand that argument but this story can work out if they fix it in halo 6 to work for halo 5 favor. Problem is, is there going to be any fan base now going to buy the next halo game from so many let downs in Halo 5.
Finally I want to add, there is going to be alot of comments and rants. Let people know, That is what these forums are for, its for the fans to express there “OWN Opinion” If there are players and fans hating on the game for there own reasons. Give them praise and understanding, That is what these forum are for. Forum isn’t for sugar and rainbow sweethearts for the game. Its about players and fans discussing the “good” and “bad” things they experience in the game and give out “their personal” experience out to the community. SO let the Rants begin.
