Halo Infinite is definitely improved over time, and I like the direction its going, but here are some ideas I think would make the game just that much better down that road.
I would like to see better animations. For example when you disintegrate someone the Halo 4/5 animation was significantly better way more satisfying to watch someone slowing turn to ash.
I’m not a fan of the vehicle “critical” mode. Vehicle destruction should work the same as previous versions of halo more anything from halo 2-5 vehicle gameplay was better.
The player highlighting is still an issue, even with the ability to dim its still strange and doesn’t feel like halo. Shields damage appearance is really distracting. I play a lot of Halo MCC, and the shield coloring and outline in Infinite is the first thing you notice and really needs to go. It’s a really bad addition to the franchise.
Particle effects in general need improved. Explosions look flat and way to red. Lack of smoke and dirt. I personally think Halo 2A has the best particle effects, and graphics. Plasma grenades in particular look amazing in H2A. As well as vehicle explosions and animations.
Weapons fire from vehicles looks and sounds need improved. Past halo’s the turret felt beefier and bullets looked more realistic. Now turret rounds look like eggs shooting out the end. Sound effects sound weaker as well on vehicles. Plasma blast from wraith is pretty sad looking as well. Its faster than before but not as exciting. Rocket Hog sound and animation was better in Halo 5.
I miss the zoom in effect from Halo 5. I thought that was a really cool addition when that showed in 5. It made the game feel more immersive. It would be nice if at least the rockets still zoomed like they used to as well. I also miss the promethean grenades from Halo 5. Those were amazing.
So hot take, eliminate the armor cores all together. So if 100% cross-core happens we don’t need cores. Its kinda of a silly idea anyway. I think people would be more inclined to purchase cosmetics if they all worked together.
I’m still not a fan of Infinite HUD. I’ve gotten used to it, but like I said I play a lot of Halo MCC, and they are all better imo. They are defiantly more consistent.
As far as cosmetics go, I know there was a controversy about armor in halo 4/5, but I think it would be cool if you added it as armor customization options. It would be cool to see a team of spartans that look like 4 different versions of the Chief one team. Personally I’ve liked all the armor designs from H3, Reach, 4,5. Obviously more content is better and looks like you guys are working hard on it.
Finally I think if 343 hasn’t you really need to play a lot more old halo to determine what we as a community like about halo in order to make the game better. Bungie and 343 has done some great halo work in past don’t ignore it re-use it. Also play more Fortnite, apex, COD. Look at what makes their free to play model work, get ideas for events, UI, store, and gamepass. Epic has basically perfected this model learn from them and don’t be afraid to copy ideas, everyone else has.
I’m sure there are more things that I’m missing, and other people might have better ideas than me. I Just wanted to share. So 343 keep up the good work.
PS. Lets just cancel the Halo tv series now. It’s not good. I say this out of love.
you make some pretty good points but honestly this game feels like it’s hardly changed since launch, yeah they added coop and forge but that should’ve been here from the start. imo they screwed up royally and i don’t think there’s any fixing it.
So you like the player outlines and the brightly colored shields? I just feel like its a very jarring experience visually considering it doesn’t exist in any previous game prior. Also it feels a little cheater-y. I mean you can spot an enemy clear across a map with just a glance, try to do that on halo 3 on large map.
Personally I really agree on 2 and 3.
An option to switch from “player highlighting” to just Red and Blue colored armor with traditional yellow shields is one of my top wants from Infinite.
I’d also love to see an option to disable weapon customization or at very least let my weapon customization override anything I pick up off the ground. Picking up a lime green BR with stickers and toys gangling off of it kinda kills it for me.
And the ability to disable the kill effects. If other’s like them that’s cool, they are just too obnoxious in my opinion. As 343 said before, “more options for players is a win”
outlines are an intentional gameplay decision designed to punish camping while enabling customization. If you don’t believe me, check out halo 5- they do something similar. The spartans are always brighter than their environments in multiplayer.
Outlines have ONE simple reason: monitizing coatings. No Halo title ever had a real problem with campers, there is absolutely no need to adress a non existing issue. Outlines are way more of carrying wheels than aim assist.
In age where in 99% of online shooter you can’t tell if that thing there on the right is a player, a bush, a trash bin etc., I really find Halo’s player visibility a real blessing.
honestly, i can understand the perspective. It does seem really weird, but… well, the halo infinite weapon sandbox feels less rounded, the level design feels worse (in general), big team battle is… in a very weird spot right now, IDK. It’s not that I think they haven’t played halo. That’s silly. But I do feel like there’s something they’ve only recently been able to begin to recapture.
I do remember Microsoft xbox saying some older Bungie team members were ask for help with the games code to deal with the bigger bugs . But I was not tocking about Bungie in my last post just Saber Interactive.
