343 Going Classic Style with AR

It was already somewhat confirmed what the AR would look like in the Game Informer magazine image of Chief. But we didn’t have solid proof until now. After seeing just a handful of weapons of Halo 4, we can see that 343 is going classic designing with the weapons. I was the happiest when I saw the beloved AR back in it’s glory. The AR just wasn’t the same in Reach. So I hope 343 can revive it and make it a champ once more.

As you can see, they have made very minimal changes. Tiny things like this can even make a difference, because just the design of the AR, you can tell they are trying to go back to the roots of what made Halo, Halo. Those are my thoughts and opinions. Feel free to discuss.

Yeah I was quite pleased when I knew they were going for the original look of the AR from Halo 3 with just some more minor details. It looks sooo much better than the Reach AR.

ODST still had the AR though so I didn’t know what you meant when you said it was “wiped away in ODST” I believe you were getting confused that the BR was not shown in ODST.

How was it ‘somewhat confirmed’? It looked like that since the action figure was revealed.

You do know that bs angel posted a weapon schematic for it when the GI cover was revealed, right?

Yeah for some reason I liked how you saw more of the butt of the AR in ODST than in Halo 3. I don’t know why that was. Maybe it was the increase of FOV for the player but all the weapons being held in ODST looked a lot better than Halo 3.

Seriously though, I’m glad they are getting rid of Reach’s AR design. One of the ugliest Halo weapons ever. It’s a shame Halo 4’s BR inherited that yellow stripe.

Yeah, no it wasnt. It was nerfed in odst with a firepower equivelant or lower than reach.

I beleive to was done to make the sm7 more apealing

Grunts werent heavily designed around arthropods till halo 3. They had toes and claws back in 1 and 2.

Meaning bungie was already inconsistant with their design between 2 and 3

It looks like the H3 AR, I sure hopes it plays even better :slight_smile: Great decision on 343’s part.

I’m glad it looks like the Halo 3 assault rifle. That one looked the best in my opinion.

this is the logical choice for the AR since Halo 4 is a sequel to Halo 3. It wouldn’t make sense to use something similar to the Reach AR.

ODST’s AR has been my personal favourite so far :slight_smile: Theres just something about it…

It makes more sense for them to use a more “classic” design than model everything after Reach…after all Reach was designed to be a precursor to the others, so it would make sense to assume that Reach’s weapons were designed to be older models than the Halo 3 weapons instead of assuming the opposite just 'cause it’s the newer game with better graphics & details.

The CEA AR looks best imo.

I may be the only one to have realized this, but I’m fairly certain they increased the range on it.

All human weapons were nerfed against shields. I think it just felt more powerful against unshielded in comparison to the shields. It kind of felt more like CE in a way just with a lower mag capacity.

I dunno for some reason I just like the ODST AR for some reason. Maybe it was the FOV or the maybe its all in our heads but we like in none the less

Its hard to tell, obviously it has the standard shape but the model quality was so much lower in Halo 3 so we need to see what kind of details they have on it.
