343 failed with CSR and the ranking system.

CSR:
What used to actually mean something now means nothing. On the first day CSR came out people were already getting their 50s. And no it’s not because they’re really good it’s because the system is completely flawed and anyone can get a 50. How do I know this? I played two games of Rumble Pit and won one game and then lost the other and somehow I’m a 5 in that playlist. Really? You can’t even see your rank in the game. Something so simple and somehow you messed it up.

SR:
Same deal. It’s a total beta ranking system. People were already getting their 130’s after not a year, but a month after the game came out. The ranks are just a joke. No symbols or names for your rank, it’s literally a number on your player card. CoD’s ranking system lasts longer than this and they come out with a new game every year.

All in all nothing lasted long in Halo 4. Not even the game itself lasted long. It was basically designed for the casual player who buys a game that looks appealing, plays it for a month, and then moves on to the next game. Either that or they were so focused on campaign and Spartan Ops that multilayer was something they were going to do if they had the time to do it. I guess that’s why they have to keep updating the game almost every week. Even though they had 4+ years to make the game.

Hey look, another rank bashing thread.

Maybe this one will be different and the poster will bring up new points and/or new material in which to shed new light on old points.

Reads thread.

Nope.

Guess not.

8 man FFA can take as little as 3 games to converge under ideal conditions. Going from a CSR of 1 to 5 in 2 games is not surprising. I went from 1-26 in 5 games of BTB because it’s effectively 16-man FFA.

Play the Team-ranked 6v6 lists or Team Throwdown if you want to play more games before finding your skill level.

I could give a million good points and you guys wouldn’t care. 343i could have put out ‘Halo Karts’ and you guys still would’ve bashed me for not liking it.

Rumble Pit is not a Team Based CSR. It does not rely on Win/Loss.

Its an individual one. So if you won a single match and then lost two more, so long as you scored higher in the game than people in the match with a higher rank than you, your rank goes up.

Maybe since something new is implemented people are not playing their skill level people so it is easy to level up?

BUT CSR MAKES THE GAME SO COMPETITIVE.

for those that havent realized yet, this game is still the SAME EXACT GAME, it just has a meaningless and poorly executed 1-50 topped on it to appease the people who wanted ranks. you still match the same kids, you willl still get top rank just by playing a lot since it seems like its going to be impossible to not get a 50.

Did you actually read any of threads where people were saying they got a 50 already? It was all pretty much in playlists that uses individual scoring to rank up, not W/L. 343i has already said those will be easy to rank up in as they are what amounts to Halo 4’s Social playlists.

No one has a 50 yet in playlists that are tied to your Trueskill like Team Throwdown or CTF. The system works fine. Also the system is brand new so its like when a game first comes out, it’ll take a little time for the population to settle into where they truely belong in terms of rank.

We know.

We’ve read about the same threads similar to this about 100 times. There is no need to post more threads about this.

No because back in Halo 3 if you lost one game and won another you would probably go up a level or stay the same.

the more you do the better the chance of something being done -__-

what gets dont if we all sit around with our thumb up our butts??? NOTHING

Well, if you/343i know than how come NOTHING is being done? The population is going down and down every day and 343i is saying the same stuff over and over again. Nothing interesting and nothing surprising. We knew that CSR was going to be in the game even before the game came out. We thought it was going to come out in January but instead it came in April.

Plz in halo 3 if u lost it took like 3 wins just to get back on track

Oh, you mean like this guy at the top of the score board with a 50 in infinity slayer?

Ok how about this.

Stupid example I know but I dont have time to think of a real good example.

You friend needs to borrow a pencil, but the one you are using is the only one you have so you tell him to wait and that you’ll give it to him once you’re done. But he’s impatient and he’s like:

“Are you done with it yet?”
“Can I use it now”?
“You finished yet?”
“Hurry up!”

and so would you give it to him? I’m not sure what you’d do, but I’d just take my time.

Now on the other hand…if he just asked ONCE and wouldnt be an annoying pest, then would you give him it? Again, not sure what you’d do but I’d do whatever I’m doing with it as fast as possible so I could give it to him.

Just be PATIENT. Who knows they could be fixing it right now as I type this.

LOL 50 in infinity slayer. Unless they have a 50 in one of the team based playlist they are effectively a 1 to me. I also couldnt care less how well you get matched in infinity slayer.

IS needs to be struck from this earth and forever banished to gaming hell.

Exactly! He’s complaining because he got an easy 50 and his teammates suck even though it was in a social and non-competitive playlist.

There is a need to keep posting it. Its not all rainbows and butterflies 343 needs to know how poor of a game this is. It is so unfinished its unbelievable. Like OP said CSR literally did not change the game what so ever. Its so frustrating seeing how good this game could be if they cared and polished it up. People stop playing H4 because they are done with the BS. H3 wasnt perfect when it was released, but people stuck with it because Bungie was known for producing great games (H2+CE). People now are fed up, Reach was junk and not changed and now it looks like H4 is the same.

I’m glad to see we could find some middle ground.

Course that middle ground being “I hate you and I want you and your influence out of MY game” might be a problem.

The system is so new, you’re forgetting so many good aspects.

  1. CSR 1-50 is calculated differently than TrueSkill.
  2. CSR has the potential to be able to decay over time. So just because you’re a 50 today, doesn’t mean you get to keep the 50. CSR is compared against the entire pool of players and if a group of players have better stats than you, your rank will go down as theirs goes up. This forces you to “defend” your CSR continuously if you want to keep it. It was the reason for the divorce from TrueSkill.
  3. When a pool of players initially start out, it’s expected that high level players will hit 50 quickly as they dominate. Then they will “bounce back” as even better players outplay them later on. See 2.
  4. 343 collected months of data prior to CSR introduction. You don’t think that was for their health do you? They built a database of player skill based on CSR so they could reliably predict how CSR would play out. How do I know this? It’s what I would do. And I assume 343 is relatively smart. So your performance in your first couple of games would tell them if their prediction about where you should end on the CSR spectrum is accurate or not. If your true CSR is 50, then you SHOULD expect to rank up quickly as you play inferior opponents in your first 10-25 games of a playlist. Then as you begin getting matched against increasingly even competition, your CSR will slow down and eventually halt at your actual CSR, be it 20, 42, or 50.
  5. Not everyone is a 50. But you can bet that many of the people who are active on the boards are probably the better Halo players than average.

In sum: Chill out.
