Well, easy is relative but I have an idea to have more maps, Time of day changes.
Imagine Haven with a bright full moon instead of a cloudy day, or Adrift with a Blue Star. Imagine Complex with it slightly snowing or Ragnarok at dusk.
If we had several variations of the same maps it would give them a new life and make maps playable for longer. Opinions?
Or maybe we can get newer and better maps? Or even some well-designed forge maps.
Some environmental controls would be nice in forge however.
this would have worked in reach, but no.
There is a mission in episode 6 of spartan ops that is exactly what I’m talking about. In the campaign the level is in the day but in spartan ops it is at night. It totally changes the feel of the level without having to make a new level. Of course I want new maps but this would be a great way to add more variety to MM.
They recycle maps enough as they do, no need to keep it going.
We have all these new spartan ops maps downloaded to our hard drives so i don’t see why those can’t be used for war games
Nothing wrong with recycling maps…look at the forge playlist, shutout is the best map in that list.
I see the potential. Haven-day, Haven-night, Complex-sun, Complex-rain.
> 1) People who obsess with their stats on a map would get pissed off
> 2) More disc space used (everything has to be created multiple times)
> 3) The sky is cool and all… but it doesn’t really add anything by Halo immersion terms. And besides, the skyboxes arn’t works of art like they were in earlier halo games
> 4) Waste of dev time
> 5) Nobody really wants new skies.
i would. stop acting like a know-it-all
I would love to see environmental controls in the next iteration of Forge! As-is, I think it would all just create too much lag/framerate issues or some such as has been mentioned already…
There are lots of multiplayer games and maps that utilize weather and they don’t have lag issues. In the end it’s up to the developers to figure out the logistics. I just think it would be cool to have variations of the same maps to keep them fresh.

It would be cool to see multiplayer maps go through climate change, or from day to night but it just seems like a waste of space or time to the devs.

This is right on the mark. It would be cool to see small variations on our War Games maps, but the space it would take up on our hard drives would be increased to much for anyone to really want it. eventually maybe with the next Xbox game devs will be able to do this small yet fun things without eating up 2 GB for minor variations on virtual terran
